do you know a lot of 20-somethings? aren't they like this? the ones I know are.

i also agree that it's not really an ARG yet, but it does seem to be heading that way. we just use ARG terminology because it's convenient, right? Wink

That's because when you create a myspace page, Tom steals your soul and replaces it with a sandwich baggie filled with chocolate pudding.

I do think the pages are going to be more interactive they are probably organizing all the info that comes in from us stalkers, and summarizing it for JJ, so he can make a decision on how to proceed with this game.

Re: David Byrne

I found it interesting that 2 of the profiles have David Byrne involved in them. One in the music playing and another has one of the Talking Heads albums as music they're currently listeneing to.

That's not the only Talking Heads reference

Jamie hails from the town of Weymouth... as in Tina Weymouth, geddit?

Furthermore, in response to the atlas talent agency stuff, it's OOG (legit number and address comes up in a websearch) but if you do a quick googling, the PDR talent agency comes up, with this name prominently displayed:

JJ Adler, Abrams Artists Agency

Bears a bit of a resemblance to a certain film producer, eh?

So, I think we can safely assume a number of things on these myspaces are little inside jokes. Red herrrings. Fun as they are to figure out, they're not necessarily IG.

Don't get me wrong - I def. think this is a game of some kind. I guess I'm just disappointed at how cliche these characters seem. Then again, if they all die, why bother going into more detail? And, I suppose if the people seemed too real, then we might've thought they were OOG. The real point is - could this be for a reason other than sloth on the part of the makers of these myspace pages? For example, it could mean that the info. on these myspace pages wasn't designed to really "flesh out" the characters, but to conceal coded information (somehow), under the guise of a standard profile page. But, then, coded info. for WHAT?! Hurm... I guess I'm just pissed b/c I can't identify that DAMN butterfly on Rob's shirt, and I'm tired of scrolling through lists of butterflies/moths. ARG (heh, no pun intended).

Anyone...? Help...?

well, two things.

One, i think that they're just 'Living thier lives' for us to see and y'kno get to know them. I really doubt that anything is hidden in thier clothes or musics or w/e.

Two, most of his shirts are just retail shirts that anyone could buy... i believe that's from abercrombie... it said somewhere what brand it was, but its just a name brand. Nothing hidden in what kind of butterfly it is.

Thats my take...

Okay, a search on this yielded nothing. I suspect it's because I'm clutching at straws, and nobody actually thinks there's anything in it... But just wondering if there's anything in Rob's comment on Beth's page?

"A dude on the subway told me I look like Spike Jonze. I guess you aren't the only one."

Now that I type that, it looks ridiculous. Guess I really am clutching at straws Confused

Sarah Nettleute

This is my first time posting here, so please do let me know if I'm doing something... um... inappropriate.

Concerning "Sarah," the name of the photobucket account in which Jamie keeps her images, I have two thoughts:

1) "Nettleute" has been translated to something like "nice folks", but Nett also translates (literally at least) to "kind." "Kind" in English has an archaic meaning of like-minded, or kin. So- could the German be similar? Could this mean something like Kinfolk, or family? It fits in with the "Are you one of us?" question asked by the Happy Talk.

2) As mentioned elsewhere, every friend (except Jamie) is missing two friends (i.e. 8, 9, or 10 are listed and 6, 7, or 8 are present.) Someone also pointed out that if you look at the friends alphabetically, you can determine that the missing friends' names begin with J and S. And Jamie, for some reason, is not missing friends.

So- it could be that Sarah was everyone's missing "S" friend. Further, if that's the case, it's interesting that Jamie--who shares her Photobucket account with Sarah--is the only one who was not friends with her.

[The missing friend thing, I've read, is a bug in Myspace-- deleted accounts show up as "invisible friends" until the friended account owner deletes them. However, I don't see how that necessarily makes the invisible friends a dead end.]

Wikipedia shows hes a director and Producer. He also played a character in the movie "Three Kings". Significant? I dunno?! Shocked

Edit: On a side note, Michel Gondry (One of Robs top 5 to meet) is also a director.

Spike Jonze also has ties to Johnny Knoxville and the jackass crew. Maybe JJA & crew are laughing at us?

Spike Jonez is a famous music video director, who also did some camera work and is one of the producers of Jackass. His videos include some seminal work with the Beastie Boys, The Black Eyed Peas (before they went all crap), and Fat Boy Slim.

Michel Gondry is also a music video director who did the crossover into movies. His videos include the award winning "Tonight Tonight" for the Smashing Pumpkins. His movies include "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "Science of Sleep".

OOG. Just wanted you to know. Smile

Spike Jonze is also directing a new movie coming out, based on the classic children's book: Where the Wild Things Are. Here's a link to an article about it:

http://www.slashfilm.com/2007/06/22/first-photo-spike-jonzes-where-the-wild-things-are/

But, why would people think that Beth and Rob look like Spike Jonze? Sounds like an inside joke between them (in fictionland, of course), so it probably doesn't mean anything.

I agree - that these photos are just there to show them living their lives, etc. But, the fact that this shirt shows up so often and we can only see different parts of it clearly in different photos made me think it was something to be 'solved' - to put it all together to get a clear look at the image. I'm skeptical about it, but it seemed like a possibility.

You say it's a retail shirt? From where? Have you found any other copies of that shirt or image anywhere? If so, please: do tell.

Also, can someone tell me where someone says that it's Rob's "favorite shirt" - I know that's on a myspace page somewhere, but I can't remember and can't find it. Many thanks.

Jonezing on the subways

The only significance I can think of concerning the Spike Jonze comment is that it came from a guy on the subway. Here's the comment from Lil's blog about the subways:

Quote:
Subway Snippets
Current mood: giggly

Anyone who rides the subways as much as I do in this city knows full well you're going to overhear some wild conversations. The things that pour out of people's mouths in this public place are simply marvelous. I've taken to jotting them down. Here are a few of my favorite snippets:

So, NYC crowd, start your eavesdropping?
