Reading is fundimental
message from HUD

I have pending friend requests for the Slusho 7 and I noticed that I can see when they are online via my "pending request" page. I saw that HUD was on and I shot him a book recommendation (corny I know...but it got a response)

Hey HUD I have been meaning to read Life of PI just haven't had a chance to pick it up. I am fininshing Water for Elephants and was thinking of the next book to make the list. You seemed to like Yann Martel's work. I guess if you dug it then I might give it a shot.

Thanks !!!

RE: book reccomendations

Sorry its not by the same author its by Sara Gruen. Its about a young man who was recently orphaned, jumps a circus train and finds himself engulfed in the world of freaks and misfits set during the great depression. Its one of those books that grabs you right away and you find that you just can't put it down. I highly recommend it !!!

I shot you a friend request I hope its cool.

Cheers,

El~

Question:

I just ran across this while looking for a hint on the 2nd trailer, and wondered which guy this is and has there been a myspace page located for him so far?

good luck charm

As far as I'm aware that's all we know about Grunberg's role in the film - that it may or may not be small. I'd bet on it being a minor part since he's probably busy on Heroes - so doubtful that his character would have a Myspace page - but he's got two other films in post production right now so I suppose its not beyond the realm of possiblity that his role might be larger.

 Response from Beth

Beth finally responded to my message about the Kylie Minogue video on her page. I told her I thought it was cool and, to dig for clues, I asked if she had it up for the song or the video itself. She said she liked the video after seeing it on "her friend Rob's Michael Gondry dvd". Awesome!

Now, I'm starting to think that the vid concept, and the Who I'd Like To Meet answer of "Myself from the future", seems to be leading us somewhere. Incidently, I gave her the moving to NY lead as well before I readtmerch's post. Oh well, guess we'll see...

Also, my comment was posted on Jamie's blog...I'm pretty awesome today Wink

Hey everyone. I've been reading the threads since the trailer began, and havent had anything to include until now. It's probably nothing, but I have beenn talking to HUD today. Him and Jamie were the only two that accepted my friendship, but those are the only two i have tried so far.

Anyways, I left a comment on HUD's page, and he accepted it. It reads:

"HUD! you have a fine taste in television sir. just add rescue me and subtract how i met ur mother and you'll be all set."

And then I messaged him this:

yo hudson. why arent you friends with lena? i think if you turned up your game, you could tap that ass! hell yea son, get at it. bring her to the naked foyer, if you catch my drift. OF COURSE YOU DO!

And he replied back:

"haha, i've been trying, man"

Then 2 minutes later, he sends this to me in a new reply.

"Dude, have you watched How I Met Your Mother? Its the best sitcom in years, no lie. Funny, clever, heartwarming, hot chicks. The ones written by the creators, Bays and Thomas, I think, are the best. Look into the episode called Swarley, then come talk to me."

So yes, I guess the trick is, talk about something other than 1-18-08 and they might reply. Any suggestions on anything else I should say to him?

Hey Rob,

I see you are a fan of the Coen's films. I don't know if you heard about the new project NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN but its gonna be awesome. It rocked at Cannes. I just finished the book its by Cormac McCarthy and its freakin great...another book by Cormac just won the Pulitzer its called THE ROAD. I highly recommend both if you haven't already filled your summer reading list.

Cheers,

El~

I sent Hud a message saying "Large jungle cats...hallelujah to the brother." (among other things) and he replied "I want to die and be reincarnated as a leopard."
You know what this means...

Either Hud hates his nickname, or Lena has crazy eyes....and is crazy.
Or maybe the next teaser poster will have the Cheers font to it.

I am lost on that one but did visit one of the links off the above one and got this....

Quote:
Swarley, a shortened form of the name Swarles, is of Germanic origin. Its meaning can be translated as "man who wears suits." Derived from the Old English, "Swar" meaning "handsome man" and the German "Les" meaning "well-cut tunic;" it has been a favorite of royal houses as far back as the seventh century.

if that has anything to do with anything.

Wow, that makes the episode even funnier. Barney always has to 'suit up.' Anyway, he gets the nickname because the girl at the counter of a coffee shop writes 'Swarley' instead of 'Barney' on his cup and it sticks for the rest of the episode. "This would never happen in a bar!"

And perhaps the funniest (at least IMO) email message from the MySpace accounts so far:

I sent Hawk the following (note that I use my MySpace page as a 'fictional' character that allows me to say things without it clearly being the real me. That 'fictional' version of myself is a SuperHero with no face (and came about from the Lost Experience and a different message forum)):

-----
Hawk--

As a Super Hero myself, I'm always interested in what makes someone become someone else's hero.

So why is your girl your hero?

I know, such a girlie thing to ask--but I think it'd be cool to know.

UnseenPresence
Faceless Super Hero of the Masses.
-----

His reply:

-----

um... cuz she's hot?

-----

I just find this response really, really funny.

Ha!

Unseen, that is funny!

So I replied to Lil about the wedding:

Quote:
No way! Hahaha...that's awesome, nothing like getting a group of old friends together to celebrate! What's in Vermont, is someone from there, or was it just a scenic spot for a wedding?

That's one thing I love about the northeast - here in Texas you have to drive three or four hours to reach a border, but you guys can just pop over to a different state to shop one afternoon. Awesome. In fact, my boyfriend and I have been thinking of moving up there lately, to NYC or maybe Boston.

You know...if you don't mind my asking - do you usually hang out with a close circle of friends, or is it pretty easy to meet people up there? See, I would hate to move up there with my boyfriend just to become that couple that's in sitting around in PJs by 9pm...you know, just because we can't break into a "group".

Then I received a response from Beth. My original message:

Quote:
Just browsing through mySpace pages - I'm a recent convert, myself - and thought I'd say hi to a fellow Office fan. That show is one of the best on TV right now, I friggin love it!

Have you ever taken any of the "Which Office Character Are You" quizzes? Usually I show up a combo of Jim and Ryan, but this one caught me by surprise:

http://www.okcupid.com/tests/take?testid=6187678706462058863

It said I was Angela. Angela!? Please tell me I'm not crazy and that this quiz is completely hosed!!

Her response:

Quote:
I'm a Beesley...

And mine:

Quote:
See, now that doesn't sound accurate to me, either, unless of course you're Fancy New Beesley. Then all bets are off. I mean, I don't know what a Program Trader does, but it sounds like something you'd have to be pretty fearless and secure to do.

Plus it looks like you've got a ton of friends, at least on this MySpace thing anyway. Are they all people you've met in NYC? I'm thinking of moving there but I was wondering how easy it is to meet people. I'm pretty shy, but I keep telling myself all it takes is making just one friend to get your "in"...

Hopefully one of them bites!

Something that stood out to my eyes from the first link:
"But it was all LILLY, trying to scope out Marshall's date and make him feel a little guilty in the process. Again, FLASHBACKS and SELECTIVE EDITING are used very well here. When Lilly popped out from behind the couch and yelled, "STOOOOPPP!" I was truly surprised. Nice job with that.

Odette Yustman as Beth?

I searched the forum for mention of "Odette" and didn't find anything, so here goes...

FWIW, I just saw an episode of Monk, from Season 5 (episode 5 "Mr. Monk, Private Eye") and a character named "Courtney" (a waitress at a club/bar) looks a lot like Beth. The actress' name is Odette Yustman - her imdb link is below. Notice her most recent role: "Socialite #3" in Transformers.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0951148/

The imdb cast list for the Untitled J.J. Abrams Project doesn't list the whole cast, so maybe this is Beth?
