I agree about going back to the pictures - I think that if there is any bona-fide puzzles to be found in those myspace pages, the pictures are the place to look. My guess is that the blogs and profiles are there to give us topics of conversation, for messaging them. The pictures, though, could contain some sort of code/puzzle.

And, Jamie might be the 'outcast' only because she's the youngest and she likes to party a lot more than the rest of them. So, she's just off doing her own thing.

The problem is that we don't have anything to look for - with the messaging, we can content ourselves that we're at least getting some interaction out of them, and so, the movie will mean more to those of us who've communicated with the characters. I mean, just watching the Trailer again takes on a whole new meaning when I recognize Hawk and Lily, etc. It's kinda' cool, actually.

In terms of codes & puzzles, though - without ANY kind of goal, it's just crazy to look for things to 'decipher.' It's not even like looking for a needle in a haystack, because we don't even have a "needle" in mind to look for; instead, we're looking for hay in a haystack. And, that's just stoopid.

We need a needle. Confused

Finally, we're assuming he's put a lot of time into the non-movie parts of this, but that's not necessarily true.

Being that Lily's supposed to be from Toronto, I couldn't resist this one:

Quote:
Man: Is she serious? Is this broad serious?
Hipster chick who bumped into him: You talkin' to me?
Man: Yeah, lady, I am talkin' to you!
Hipster chick: Hey, buddy, as if your fat ass doesn't bump into people everywhere you go.
Man: Well, actually, if my ass was half as big as yours, I bet it would!
Hipster chick: You only wish you had my ass.
Man: Yeah, you're right. [Pauses, then gets noticeably calmer] Good thing you're from New York or I'd have to kick you in the face.
Hipster chick: I'm not from New York. I'm from Toronto.
Man: Where is that, Antarctica?! Get outta my face!

I suspect I'd be giving the PMs too much credit, but I wonder if we're supposed to be checking up at that site, since that's where Lily drew her "overheard" comments from.

OK so heres a few things Ide like to mention. You say where looking for a haystack that may or may not even exist. This may be so... but doesnt that kinda make you think of a lateral riddle, you know the ending and now you have to work your way back. We have the needle(maybe only part, but whatever.), now where is that haystack that it goes in.

Also we have some people trying to ask and answer random riddles and some poeple trying to figure out what some pictures mean. Is it possible that the "Im glad if I dont see you" is a riddle? Or another picture?

If its not, maybe its not an anagram. How about trying to mouth the words to someone and see if they know what your saying or if they come up with something else. Or what if its a mad gab (ie: "Yore Luke Ink Hood" is really "You're Looking Good") or something like that.

Just some random thoughts..

jamie's song

Nevermind the lyrics, have you seen the video version of that song? About a creature from the deep Sargasso Sea? Tentacles growing out of a man?

video link and stills here:
http://monstrous-movie.blogspot.com/2007/07/modest-mouse-video-on-jamies-myspace.html

As for looking for clues:

Has anyone looked into the repetive use of words across the sites? I know from a casual look, there are multiples of:
mouse
dinosaur
hot (lots of these)

and many words that make sense on their own, but seem to stand out across the blogs: behemoth, blood, demon.

Prolly just JJ jerking everyone's chain, giggling to the bank. Good for him. It's a Cthulu eat dog world.

So it's a giant, flaming ratosaurus. Got it.

I still don't think there are clues to be found, and maybe this will be a "game" eventually but it certainly isn't one now.

Nighthawk, it reminds me of the Heroes 360 experience somewhat. There doesn't appear to be a "game" exactly, just a bunch of different web sites (Yamagato Fellowship, Claire Bennet's MySpace, etc.). Sure, there are some hidden easter eggs to be found, but no real "game" there, as far as I know.

I'm laughing at myself as I type this, but I'm typing it nonetheless:

The I'M GLAD IF I DON'T SEE YOU sign anagrams to:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
(are you ready for this?)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
IDENTIFY MOUSE DIALOG

...and that's a wrap. Another Friday, another eight hours of doing surprisingly little work. Embarassed

yeah, its in rob's blog, i forget which.

update on hud and my comic-con thread:

Me: Were you at the CC, or just saw some footage of it? I really wanted to go, but I'm in Toronto, and couldn't take off work to go down there. If you went, what did you see? Fill me in here, dude.

Hud: No, I think they only showed the iron man footage in San Diego. I went to the NYC con. I saw the footage on youtube or wherever before they took it all down.

Lost Experience

tinag222 wrote:
I do agree about keeping within bounds but with respect to the Lost/Abrams avenue, it would be hysterical if you engaged Hud in a chat and asked if he played the Lost ARG....and then eventually inviting him to play one!

That would be just too awesome....Hud shows up at UF to play in an ARG on here! lmao.

That's funny, I was talking to Rob back and forth about Lost and then asked him if he'd heard of the Lost Experience. I thought maybe he wouldn't reply because it hit too close to home, but he replied with something to the effect of "No, what's that?". Need to respond to him now, but will try to post if anything pertinent comes out of it...

Haven't read the entire thread and I know it has been stated before, but everything they post on those accounts are grammar and spell checked. No doubt.

Also, some people say it could be the actual actors behind the accounts on Myspace for character building or whatever, but that'd be a little late since shooting is almost done already.

Also, this whole ARG is probably designed by some marketing agency geniuses who have this entire thing planned out so nothing gets revealed too late or too early. This requires teamwork and people who work on this full-time.

Just imagine you have to reply to and make friends with all of these nut heads trying to figure out some clues about the movie. I mean, if dozens of people on this website get (multiple) responses, imagine how many people actually communicate with these characters.

The real purpose of this whole Myspace thing still isn't very clear. Is it clues? Is it involvement so you will feel a connection with the characters once you watch the movie? Or is it just an interactive ad campaign? Though, this we will probably figure out the upcoming weeks and months.

BTW, I noticed someone in Rob's comments with the official movie poster. I'm not too familiar with ARG's, but I guess that breaks some AR rule.

couple things

1. August 9 - yesterday, Hud leaves comment for JJ about the snickers, and then asks what he did all day the day before, lay around as usual, etc. Meaning: JJ should reply so there is possibly a dialogue between characters in the making that we should probably pay attention to but not necessarily butt into - play it by ear.

2. JJ's got a new blog post...

3. It was:

Fantasy advice...

And I got all giddy thinking hell yeah! My boy! Fanatsy advice. I'm so on it. Until I got this crap...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I have the second pick in my upcoming fantasy football draft

WTF JJ....guy stuff? You give us guy stuff? Football?? What the hell is wrong with you? These are the prime (last few) months of your life.

That's it. That's my sign we're incompatible (wet shirt photo notwithstanding). He says fantasy, I think porn! He says football. What happened to the good old days when that's all they thought about was porn? I don't get my slusho tshirt or ball cap. Don't have any 7 friends on my ms page....no JJ porn....no JJ no shirt and wet pics....

Pitiful aint it....like those chicks who wait for the phone to ring. Mr. Green

But still, that's just wrong to do that to a girl. The Slusho monster will make you pay. Jay.

Beth's new surfing vid.

Just so you all know: there's a new video on Beth's myspace page that's from Youtube and it's called "Struck in Tsunami." Before anyone gets overly excited about this, please know that I SENT IT TO HER!

I put that in Caps b/c: (1) I'm giddy about it; and, (2) I felt you all should know the source, so no time is wasted thinking it's some significant clue to anything.

I posed a lat. riddle to Beth a while back and she's been playing along by asking questions - I've only been sending simple "Yes" or "No" replies. In my last reply, though, I also sent her a link to the youtube video, and I asked her if she thought it was a real video, or "cleverly doctored footage."

This morning, she sent me another question for the lat. riddle, and she also wrote:

"That vid is incredible! I'm pretty gullible, but I'd have to say it is real. That may be the biggest wave I've ever seen someone conquer."

I didn't want to say anything about my messaging with Beth b/c it was just a lat. riddle (so nothing to tell) and also b/c I didn't want to jinx anything (they surely check these posts). I felt I had to say something now, though, to keep everyone from wasting time and energy trying to decipher this new addition to her myspace page.

Btw, do you think it's the stunningly beautiful Odette Yustman answering my messages?? ...Nah, neither did I. It's a nice thought, though.

Oh, and one last thing - how surreal is this getting? She/They are offering her/their opinion about whether a video is real or not... Screwy
