It also sounds like Transformers and at least that does have an actual IG tie, two if you also count the fact this trailer airs immediately before Transformers movie begins....but the IG connection right off the bat is that the WHOIS info for 1-18 website is the same WHOIS info for the sectorseven.org site - Transformers ARG.

There's T2 in the works, and while the rights to that probably won't allow it, there is always more of the thin sliver of potential that Abrams monster is an organic robot (like Transformers were, mindya), and one of the Dbots, considering in the end, some of them remained on earth since they screwed up their way back home.

Sure there's a Voltron movie in the works...but it's animated, so that is one major strike against voltron having anything to do with 1-18 - why make two movies back to back, one publicised, one secret and nameless, or maybe Abrams decided to do his version of Roger Robot Rabbit? There might be a similarity to a lot of monsters and likely will be considering it's a genre and they're never truly original - these similarities you pick up on can just be little more than inspirations Abrams and co had, as a base itself. A giant monster tearing up NY has been done to death. Not original. See?

So if you're gonna reach for associations, then you are humbly obliged to stick Transformers up top of that associations list since Transformers has two specific IG references. Meaning, it'll be a Transformers monster before it'll be Voltron.

If you've followed, there's not been any "official" confirmation on anything other than what Abrams has specifically stated - but the earlier, credible references have released the information that this is being done Blair Witch style (which we can see by the trailer anyway), from hand held cameras (which has been verified by a few people on the shoot locations), and that the cameras are discovered after the events themselves, which, the closest we got to an official confirmation from behind the scenes is probably the entire content and timestamps on the 1-18 site photos themselves....kinda right there plain as day it's being told in flashback, which validates the released info that it's being told in flashback at the point of aftermath. See photos 1, 3 and 4 for strong supportive evidence of this fact.

Who specifically discovers them, who knows.

But given the shoot vids put up on the other thread, we know it's not gonna be Rob/Beth (if that's that chick) who turn in any cameras.

Some things clarify and validate themselves by just connecting the dots as they've been presented IG.
