Re: Is there
a power plant

near 401 Broadway, or anywhere between it and the SoL?

Oh okay, all of lower manhattan.

If it's near 401 broadway. I work near there and I have a pretty large noggin.

It's me.

I can eat a ridiculous amount of sushi in one sitting, so maybe I would qualify as a daikaiju.

RE:RE: Is there

Sorry for my skepticism. I'm not from Manhattan, so I don't know the locations of things like power plants. I doubted there was one in such a populated area.

It was a nice anagram though, you have to admit.... Cool

JJ Abram's myspace page has a blog on July 16 that is titled: What is your favorite anagram?

On the same day, on Beth McIntyre's myspace page she sent Rob a very odd message/'riddle' ... "The lights go out, the man cries, what happened?"

I worked on it as an anagram (and I'm not saying this is definative or anything... just what I worked out in my spare time at work): Something hit the powerplant, cast huge head.

How does that grab you... coincidence? maybe... maybe not...

Again, probably a cooincidence, however it is interesting because the response to Beth was something about the power going out.

I don't think the current discussion here has much to do with the Slusho site and it's updates at all...
But I did do some research about power stations in NYC.
Yes, there are some around town. Closest to the location of the trailer shoot is one of the Power Now! plants, across the East River. It's the North 1st and Grand plant, 3rd up from the bottom of the map on this page:
http://www.nypa.gov/facilities/powernow.htm
I'm not sure if that small plant has much influence on the grid near where the events seem to be happening.

Note that the power did not go out in the trailer, it only flickered during the party. If the power outage reference have importance, I guess there's not much evidence of how in the trailer.

Thanks, Euchre! I wonder if a monster at the power plant could throw the SoL head and hit 401 Broadway....

That power plant is to the Southeast of Manhattan and the SOL is to the Southwest...

Doubtful it is involved unless it was a bumper shot

Yeah, I'm just trying to see a possible path. Maybe the monster goes to the power plant, then goes to Liberty Island?

That is definitely interesting... how long did it take you to figure that out??
Nice job, though! If that's a coincidence, it's a weird one.

He would have a couple of bridges (including the one that did in Godzilla) in the way...

Answer From Rob

Rob Hawkins

Jul 16 2007 6:36P

I heard this one. There was a power outage and his wife was on life support. Right?

*In response to Bruce

It took me about two hours... inbetween lag times work. There are some other things that I suspect are anagrams too...all from the myspace pages:

DUDE I JUST TOOK A GAMBLE AT WORK AND LOST IM HEADED HOME
(also done on the same day as JJ Abram's Anagram blog - Comment from HUD to Rob)

HEY BABE COULD YOU PICK UP SOME MILK AND PB ON YOUR WAY HOME FROM WORK (From Hawk to Lil...same day...)

FORBODING TALE FROM LINDS: EVIL ABOUNDS DEMON BORN EAT TWO SANDWICHES (part of Jamie's Blog on Random Surveys - May 17th)

Two of those are on the same day as the JJ Abrams blog on anagrams... and the last one just struck me as odd... odd placement, odd wording/phrasing... odd.

But the first one tickled my fancy - since power going out and a man crying both seemed likely in a monster movie...

Slusho cups again

Had some ideas I haven't seen mentioned about the Slusho cups, both that are based on the "top view" that someone posted a while back but I couldn't find (i.e. looking down on the slusho cups so that they're a series of black and white dots, representing full and empty cups):

1. Could it be in braille? Braille is based on SIX possible "holes", see this pic for example:
http://www.quido.cz/objevy/Braille.gif
Problem is that there are 17 cups, so not sure how to divide them up. Anyone more familiar with this?

2. Could it be a NY subway line? There are black stops and white stops and they're not all exactly in a straight line. This looks similar to the map that was the wall in the trailer too...
http://subway.umka.org/maps/new-york.gif
Just throwin' some ideas out there...

OK that one screams anagram.
