sorry, but, where in sam hell are you getting your information exactly?

Where ever it is, I recommend Halo.bungie.org and rampancy.net instead. You've been getting a LOT of bad information.

Or, ya know, bungie.net as that's the official source and all Smile

marathon symbol on halo cover

idk if this is old news, but if you look closely on the cover of a copy of Halo: Combat Evolved, you can see the marathon symbol in between the "a" and the "l" of Halo...

There's split screen co-op, it's just between 2 players. You'd have to get someone else to bring over a system to do 4 players on system link or XBL.

how is gravemind able to teleport MC & Arbiter around like that? Could he teleport himself elsewhere (like to safety when the first halo detonated)?

If memory serves, the Halos do NOT kill the Flood, they merely wipe out all life that the Flood feeds on. This is supposed to starve the Flood and kill them in a roundabout way.
Maybe the Forerunner didn't anticipate the Flood having a "hibernation" state where they could stay alive for long periods of time without food, hence when Master Chief and the Covenant show up there are Flood waiting for them.
Also, I recall it being mentioned somewhere that 343 GS stated in the first game that some Flood specimens were kept in stasis for study. That would explain the current outbreak.
Finally, the Gravemind is not a unique entity! If you read the first story in the Halo Graphic Novel you see that if there is enough infected mass the Flood can assemble a Gravemind. This specific Gravemind may not have survived the first firing, but has some memory of it from the beings that he has infected (the infected Forerunner kept in stasis for study).

Yeah. But there are more...robust discussions there that aren't just press releases, but analysis. I think he could use that kind of coverage.

He clearly ain't hitting any of the above if he said straight-up that there's no split-screen co-op. That was mentioned at least on Bungie.net and HBO.

To get back on topic, we have all the info from the 5 servers, and now we need to get some Spec and theories going.

The Forerunners found us on Earth and it was a mystery to them. We are probably like cousins, sharing similar genetic code, but they have no idea how we got here. They built the Ark, at great risk in presumably Flood territory, to protect us from the firing of the Halo's, which means we must have been inside it before.

Also I believe that Prof. Volman's castaway theory fits nicely into this, that he has somehow discovered something in our evolution. Also the castaway gap - that would be the gap in the genetic code between us and the Forerunners. But how would he know this unless he has something Forerunner to compare it to???

Who exactly is waiting in the ark, abiding in the dark? If we are to take this as present day it doesn't make sense seeing as we won't go to the ark until 2552/3. Unless he speaking to humanity as a whole, and will still be waiting for us in 545 years? Or maybe Iris isn't yet over and there is still more to discover.

What does everyone else think?

I believe the Halo Master Chief blew up was the one near the Covenant Home world, but im not sure. Anyways, (from what I know) the Halos cover hundreds of light years of space. Maybe even thousands. I think too many people are looking at Halos as only wiping out a small area. Halos wipe out most of the Universe and getting beyond their reach would probably be impossible.
But it is a good theory. What would happen if the Halos fired again? Would they not kill everything, or just be missing a chunk
There Is A Picture On the internet showing The Blast Raidios Of All 7 halos and there are areas which if 1 halo was destroyed would be fine and dandy from the rest of the halos if fired!

My theory: We'll be going to the ARK in Halo 3. Also, one of the images in Server 5 is called Terminal. Referencing Marathons terminals which were stations that explained some of the back story. In the achievement list for H3, we know there are terminals to go to.

I think at these terminals, it will wrap up the birth of the flood story that was started in Iris. I think there will be videos similar to what we've seen in the servers in the terminals.

Leads to the question: Does this mean Iris is over?

the ark

what if, through some weird time travel or alternate universes or something, the ark is actually marathon?

Bungie has already said Halo and Marathon's stories do not cross. The ark is simply a place where the Forerunners made the Reclaimers safe when they were going to fire the weapon.

i apologize

i didnt make myself clear when i said that there was no coop, i meant no one console, 4 player coop. my bad. i thought it would be better to have 4 player coop on one console as well as live

as for the topic at hand:

the ark is the safe haven for the reclaimers, as posted above, but if cheif is returning to earth, from the ending of H2, who is the reclaimer? unless they go back and explain reach, which i doubt, jhonson and keyes will have to do with using the ark and the halos. but how could they make it to onyx, i assume that is where it is since it was there in the books, and use it as well as the halos since they are on standby ready to fire?

again i apologize for my previous comment. hope i cleared that up.

The ark is the safe haven for all species inside it. Not specifically for the humans. Also, there is no reclaimer, its us, the humans. And the Ark isnt on Onyx, its on Earth
Forgive me if i read wrong, but i think thats what you saying...

true but ow do we know its on earth, i read the book and im just going by it, but if its on earth then why are the covenant trying to destroy it? and the human race?

since the ark is a safe haven period, how do we get to it, i dont think it is that big machine under the serface of whatever planet chief is on in the trailer. we can't assume its earth unless confirmed by bungie. has it been confirmed?

Yes, Bungie has said the big device in the E3 announcement trailer is the Ark, on Earth. The Covenant are trying to kill the humans (not Earth) so that they may take the place of them as the reclaimers. Ever wondered why the Covenant never offered humans a place in the Covenant?
