Great find! I never thought of looking for the trademark.

What about Copyright?

Instead of trademark what about copyright? I could see that occurring more so than a trademark...

lists of websites registered to the same people

Is there maybe a list of websites registered under the same names as the information we have for say slusho and 1-18-08 ?

The thing is that in the Slusho website you can clearly see the Trademark symbol.. letters.. whatever!

 "Overnight"
Timing is EVERYTHING

What IS INCREDIBLY interesting is the timing of the registrations. Group One Productions LLC was set up (NOV of 06) right about the time pre-production would have been starting on Cloverfield.

The final title wouldn't have been ready until much later in the process....so the patent registration at such late a date. It adds to the secrecy and while movie title's can't be copywritten their lawyers would file the cp to have it registered first in case there is a dispute over some item or marketing tie-in or something. Plus its not like they had to worry about someone copying "overnight". There's already a really good and fairly well known docu of the same name that only a tent pole could realy not be confused with.

...Or overnight could be another project.

NICE WORK!!!!

You can get "oven" out of "overnight".

Remember, that blue oven mitt on Slusho! ?

That then leaves "right".

So, "overnight" must be "right"! Laughing

No wait... perhaps it's a "right" handed oven mitt???

Wait... wait... do they even make such a thing? Shocked

Wink

Found information further connecting Jackoway and Cloverfield here, comment #458.

Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer were the original registrants for Slusho.jp, but it was changed to Satoshi before the trailer was released. The guy who wrote the comment had the wits to run a whois 21-day search history, and they turned up (the search now shows Satoshi because its been more than 21 days ago since the change was made).

I don't know anything about movie production, but it seems strange that everything would be done in a lawyer's name, rather than the studio's.

Normally, I don't like to look for "hidden codes" because they solicit wild speculation, but I about crapped my pants over this:

O-V-E-R-N-I-G-H-T

Translating letters into numbers:

15-22-05-18-14-09-07-08-20

Sum of the above numbers = 118 ( 1-18 )

If Cloverfield isn't "Overnight," that's one hell of a coincidence.

I'll admit it's interesting, but it only works if you ignore the -08. It can also be read as 118 or 11-8, neither one of which has anything to do with the movie.

surely thats too much of a coincidence though. nice find
it may not be the title of the film though but another tie in, as this all happens overnight, maybe we should be looking for another word for overnight. the only entry i have found so far of any interest on that tack though is this

Roget's New Millennium™ Thesaurus - Cite This Source
Main Entry: meteoric
Part of Speech: adjective
Definition: sudden
Synonyms: brief, brilliant, dazzling, ephemeral, flashing, fleeting, momentary, overnight, rapid, spectacular, speedy, swift, transient
Antonyms: gradual, slow

Wasn't "Cloverfield" green-lighted in Feburary?

yeah but pre prod would be before that to get the green light
based on my experience in advertising we work on stuff before we get the full go ahead on the final idea, so it is feasable (but also convinient) to those dates.

i also then looked up meteoric which looks even more interesting.

Roget's New Millennium™ Thesaurus - Cite This Source
Main Entry: explosive
Part of Speech: adjective
Definition: volatile
Synonyms: atomic, bursting, charged, consequential, convulsive, dangerous, detonating, detonative, ebullient, eruptive, fiery, forceful, frenzied, fulminant, fulminating, hazardous, impetuous, meteoric, overwrought, perilous, raging, rampant, stormy, tense, touchy, ugly, uncontrollable, unstable, vehement, violent, wild
Antonyms: calm, peaceful, relaxed, stable

"Meteoric" and "overnight" both mean "short-lived." That's the only connection they have.
