Well now, let's not get carried away that easily Wink

There was indeed some talk about the symbols depicting dates and predictions on how they might change accordingly, pretty much started by this post by degravedi and carried on for a few more pages after that.

It's all pretty much spec until now though, so please do join in and hold off the sepuku for a while Very Happy

Will do. Very Happy

BTW - As I said before, that site I provided has a nifty date converter, so you can check and see what glyphs we can expect in the following days. The ones with ocular potential show up on August 10th, 15th, and 16th.

Yes. The glyphs on the right will change daily. The one on the left will also change daily, just at a smaller level. The one on the left should only change majorly every 20 days, if I have this Mayan calendar thing down, with Mayan months being 20 days long. The minor change will be the Mayan formatted number to the left of the left glyph, currently -| where the - is a . Tomorrow the left symbol will be : |.

Het will correct me if I'm wrong. Smile

EDIT: Dang smileys and their glass candy.

My question is...do we really have anything to solve with the map? It is mysterious, but we've tried pretty much everything that could possibly done in an image...nothing seems to be hidden. We can keep trying but...lets take have this one thought still in the back of our heads:

"Maybe it's just a map"

It may be EXTREMELY unlikely, and I probably sound like a complete noob for saying it, but still....everything is possible in ARGS...

Ok... I've been teaching myself Wiki Markup this morning... after many a muckup.. (thankfully, I think i fixed everything back that i mucked up...i hope)...

I've added some stuff to the trailhead package that was posted by SpaceBass and ScarpeGrosse.

Please be kind.. like I said.. I was learning it as I went, so it may not be as good as what someone else could do... but that's the good thing about wiki's ... if someone can fix it.. they can!!

Did anyone happen to get a screen shot of the mayan calendar graphics for Aug 4-7?

Contrasted Image Analysis
Caution - Slightly Meta

DeadbyDawn wrote:

Thanks for posting that, DeadbyDawn. There is a lot that is interesting about that image that you can see now thanks to your contrasting that helps interpret its meaning less ambiguously, albeit in a slightly meta fashion:

For one thing, from the extent shown, we know this was a subset of a larger GOES image (the data collections themselves typically cover pretty large extents, bigger than just the Mid-West), but look at the edges of your contrasted image: This isn't just cropped out of an original image ... it looks like someone worked on the edges. (Note, I'm not sure what filtering you used there, just playing with contrast and brightness I cannot get the same result)

The next thing that stands out is how there are slightly brighter regions in the middle parts of the states that stay well away from the outline borders. It suggests cloud cover that was on the original and scrubbed out, while avoiding the border overlay.

This makes the clouds/smoke plumes that are positioned more or less over major centers as others have noted stand out all the more strongly.

Now I wouldn't go down this road if I could see another way to get a sense of certainty about the interpretation of this image, but to me seems to be the best way to get a sense of what this image actually says / means / what it is trying to tell us: We are supposed to be seeing towns on fire or some such. I know this has been suggested previously in the topic. But it helps me to be sure that this is what this image is trying to convey by seeing the ways it was processed to give this impression.

Thanks man. I do my best.

And regarding the glyph changes - note that the numbers will change every day. The left calendar will reset every 13 days (0 to 12), and the right one will reset every 20 days (0 to 19).

Mayan numbers are easy. Circle = 1, Line = 5. The size doesn't matter.
So basically the left calendar will be a glyph with 2 lines and 2 circles before the number beside it resets to zero. The right calendar will be a glyph with 3 lines and 4 circles before it resets to zero.

There is a Mayan Calendar converter. The glyphs you want are the bottom one (the one that has no pair), and the right glyph in the line above it. Those are the "day" glyphs. The other 5 are for the year.

Spiffy! Somehow I missed that there would be one on the 10th Shocked which is much sooner than the 15th! Very Happy

The 10th is 8 Yaxk'in 7 Ajaw (the Ajaw glyph has eyes on it). Actually, the glyphs that appear on the 15th and 16th have little circles that could or could not be eyes. in Ajaw they are pretty obviously eyes (like in Yaxk'in).

For SpaceBass's graphics, you'll need to click on the link just below the picture for an even larger picture.
