There is a Mayan Calendar converter. The glyphs you want are the bottom one (the one that has no pair), and the right glyph in the line above it. Those are the "day" glyphs. The other 5 are for the year.

i meant screenshots from our IP address. I have the links to the Maya Calendar and the glyph dictionary. Thanks.

nah.. that's ok DbD... i guess i dont need a million megs of mayan calendar glyphs...

But.. here's something interesting:

I printed out the GOES map and was just looking at it.
I was thinking... when I print out a map from google, I , most of the time, put the place of most interest in the very center... so I decided to fold it in half each way to see what was the "center"... The center, from what I can tell, (when I compared it to Google Maps of that part of Nebraska) is the Winnebago Indian Reservation.

One of the more famous Ho-Chunk tribe members was Mitchel Red Cloud, Jr http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitchell_Red_Cloud%2C_Jr.

Weird...

Okay, so I've just spent my entire 8-hour shift (with the exception of putting out some small fires here) reading back-posts. I have nothing new to add, except

GREAT WORK, EVERYONE!

Seriously! And I think I was meant to play this ARG... I was in Mexico, in the Yucatan, at Tulum AND Coba, two weeks ago on holiday! I've got some great pictures of Coba, and some minor points...

True authentic Mayans (Pre-Classic period, before Chichen Itza and Tulum) had 13 gods- 9 above and 4 below, neither good nor bad. Also, the Serpent Gods and the squared-off pyramids are Maya, but with heavy Toltec and Itza influence- they're not *true* Maya. Neither is the concept of virgin sacrifice, in case that comes up. If I remember anything else, I'll mention it.

And now, since I've spent so much time catching up, I'm exhausted. Goodnight, until tomorrow. Wink

It seems that we're either missing something obvious (probably related to the stars and the map), or the PM hasn't finished the next section of the game.

I've been lurking here for a while. Since I'm around at the start of this one, I decided to jump in. I live in Omaha NE, which is pretty near the center of that satellite map, so it's got my interest peaked.

I've been through North Platte (the postmark) a couple times on the way to Denver. There is absolutely nothing there that someone with a pulse would find interesting. Unless you're really into Buffalo Bill Cody; he lived there and had some kind of ranch thing. I was eating at a Village Inn resturaunt there and saw A buffalo. There's a Buffalo Bill statue thing, the kind that has the arm that waves back and forth. Also, a friend of mine from college graduated high school around there...in a class of about 20 people. I've seen his senior year "book"...it's generous to call it a pamphlet even. It's probably one of the larger towns out in central/western Nebraska, so maybe it's some kind of mail hub, I don't know.

As for the Winnebago reservation...I know nothing. I'm guessing it's about 90-100 miles north of me. Every now and then there's a news story about Native American stuff, but I don't remember hearing anything remotely important recently. Casino gambling is illegal in Nebraska, but I'm pretty sure Native Americans can have casinos. I know that they have a good bit of land in Iowa too, but that's about it.

So...that's what I know. Here's what I'm spec'ing. So we got barcodes with stars and mayan numerals. Everybody is trying to match the stars with constellations that we know of...but doesn't it make sense to try and match them to Mayan constellations? I believe it was mentioned briefly about 30 pages ago, but no one seemed to pick up on it. Someone posted the website:
http://www.mayantimes.com/zpages/13%20animal%20moon.htm

It's kind of difficult to tell what's going on in the constellation maps, but it seems like it makes more sense to try it this way. But I'm new, so that might be a stupid idea. Flame away

Star charts revisited...

OK, so I took another long hard look at the barcodes. I noticed that the left series had smaller white dots in addition to the bigger stars.
I've heard that these dots were ruled out as being printer flecks, but I wish to disprove this theory.
First - If they were printer flecks, they wouldn't have been identical on all three barcodes.
Second - In several places, a black star was used to create a black space so a white dot could appear on a white surface. What I mean is that if you look at the barcodes, you can see several instances where there is a black star in a space between bars, and there is a little white dot in it's dead center, as though the black star was put there so that they could place a white dot there.
To me this implies the necessity of specifically locating these small dots.
I took the liberty of creating a map of sorts of these stars, along with a faded version of the background, so you can compare it with the originals.
Maybe the larger stars are used to get our attention (hello! I'm a big star shape. What could I imply?). In constellation maps, the stars are always marked as little dots, as opposed to star-shaped objects.
Anyway, here's the picture I made. Maybe worth a look to you astronomy fans?

This has been discussed intensely in the chat- #tomtooman- and has to mean something. Unfortunately, the images on mayantimes.com are so low res, we can't try to match them up very well. If you can find hi-res images, I'm sure GCDOA would be more than happy to take that torch and run. Any information that could pertain to the subject(s) at hand, and make sense, are always welcome. Thanks TFontaine, and welcome aboard. Smile

Phew...I finally caught up, and feel that I can now participate. I am curious to see if there will be an update tomorrow. I am not totally convinced there will be, but it will be cool if there is.

I am going to try and play around with the star patterns a little bit. I know that it has been mentioned that maybe they are Mayan constellations, but has anyone checked to see if the pattern matches any of the Mayan symbols?

Another string of thought regarding the stars, on this forum, is that maybe they lay over a map and the stars a cities. If I recall correctly it has been tried over US cities, but maybe they are Mayan cities? Don't know, just a thought.

The only maps of mayan cities I can find only show as many as 14 mayan cities, and as few as seven.
http://www.adishakti.org/images_foreign/mayamap_L.gif

I'm currently searching for a map containing native american cities, and/or reservations to see if the stars match up there.

In the third star picture from earlier in the thread, the stars look to me like a man pouring out water, which could be Aquarius the water bearer, note I did not say the constellation Aquarius but a representation. See this link for Aquarius depicted artistically.

Well, it's the 10th, and the glyph with potential eyes has shown up on the website - but it doesn't look like any new eyes are clickable.

yeah I was excited to see what would happen and nothing. Worse case scenario: we'll have to wait until the 22nd to get a new left hand glyph. Until then I will keep digging and digging.

edited because late at night I think left and type right.
