Also, the word Suffe means "drowsy" in dutch.
Meaning, Let me count the ways, 1 2 3 zzz.
Just popping in, read all of this...I find it interesting that this is in SL. i would take part, but I have no idea how to do all the fancy teleporting and stuff. So, I'll do my best to help with the puzzles on this side when I can.

Putting it together: So @ 5:30 PM ET on 8/26/07 there should be events at an unknown city, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles in Second Life?

Hi mortality, the fourth city is Dublin in second life. I think chicago, new york and the los angeles events are going to be in the actual cities themselves unless i've missed something.
The location of the postcard pictures make sense as this is where the nines are making their premiere a week later (although haven't seen any for chicago.) Hopefully they are going to be a bit more specific over where exactly the gatherings are going to be on august 26th as it might not be the same exact location as the buildings in the picture but nearby.
What does everything think is going to happen at that time? Is anyone nearby planning to go along and find out?

Found a schedule for it
http://www.slconvention.org/schedule/SLCC2007-SCHEDULE.pdf
However you have to pay to get in and its nearly sold out so maybe you don't actually have to go in the building/convention?

It appears the convention ends at 4pm on the 26th, so I suppose it will be after the convention is over and not actually part pf the convention itself.
There is a bunch of new stuff upstairs in the house. Couldn't really find anything worth mentioning though.
There is a "pixel humping for dummies" book.

Isn't 17.30 GMT about 11:30 AM Chicago time? If it is that would mean it would be during the convention?
I'll be on second life after work in about 2 hours to have a look around, what is your SL name Klaudio? Mine is Nine9Nine Gabe.

Your right! What am I thinking. It would actually be 12:30pm there. They are Central Daylight Time.
So that would be during their lunch hour.
I am Klaudio Dragonash on SL.

The Nines Chicago Yes, the license plate specifically said GMT1730 ... and we are currently on British Summer Time in the UK which is 1 hour ahead of GMT. Chicago is on Central Daylight Time (CDT) which is GMT-5.
I suspect that something may be updated or broadcast live 'in-world' to co-incide with the date and time.
