[PRESS] Slashfilm: Slusho Unrelated to Cloverfield?!
Possible JJ Abrams Side Project?

I was really schocked, reading this article. What do you think about it?

My opinion I've written as Merzmensch...

I very hope, it's pure speculation.

Its as ive said all along. Slusho is a branding item. JJ uses it to tie together all his shows, in his "universe". Thats why its had bit parts in all his shows. I said months ago that i doubt it would have that much if anything to do with the movie.

You're forgetting that Slusho! leads to Tagruato.jp, which WE KNOW is deeply involved in this movie. So who cares about Slusho? It leads to Tagruato, something much more important.

Judging by this info, the deep sea nectar has nothing to do with the people exploding.

thought so...kinda

Former poster, long time reader here.....

This is what I've personally thought all along. Slusho! is a JJ Abrams thing...not exclusively for Cloverfield.
*thanks god!!!*

Peace.

Not really, I think all it suggests is that the back story is not in the film.

We already know that Slusho is 'related' to the film, in terms of the websites, but the movie may contain nothing more than a t-shirt in terms of Slusho references.

I think unrelated is going a bit far - I think he's looking for 'backstory' instead. I think there's a lot of stuff that has been uncovered that will completely pass by most viewers of the film that will be cool little easter eggs for those of us that know a lot more of the background.

With the first-person style of the film I think it would be bad for the plot if the bloke with the camera begins wandering around off-shore platforms. Much more fun to occasionally have a character who used to work for Tagruato or wears Slusho! stuff. Abrams allows that section of his audience that have been responsible for generating the word of mouth the smugness of getting more out of the movie than your casual film-goer. Mmmm smugness, the greatest gift anyone can ever give, it's on my Christmas list.

Completely agree with MikeyJ

This will be a nod to those of us paying attention, and may ultimately be expanded on if this takes off as a franchise. The movie is just the Introduction to Grumpypants. How many godzila movies are there?? If he wants that kind of action for this monster, there will be plenty of time for the mainstream audience to learn the Grumpypants lore. We just have a head start.

OK, I agree, it was in Alias and (according some rumors) also in Lost. But in the article it's said, Slusho were unrelated to Cloverfield. I hope, it's only bad formulation (I'd say, Slusho is also related to Cloverfield - if it'd be so).

Anyway, really interesting project. It gives me hopeness, also after premiere of Cloverfield the story won't be over.

Perhaps Unfiction forums will open new board, "Slusho!" Wink

Anyone seen the article at CHUD?

http://www.chud.com/index.php?type=news&id=12857

It says we're all a bunch of dorks or nerds or something. I think my feelings might be hurt.

Bah, I'm a proud nerd, and a film rumour blogger calling someone sad is itself somewhat... sad.

I think that's about all that most people here expect. I don't really expect it to have a great part in the movies storyline.

Oh, he's just upset 'cause his report got picked to pieces. Laughing Not his fault that he can't tell the difference between a HAZMAT and a small monster. Rolling Eyes

The fact is, he saw it and CHUD, AintItCool, and most of the other movie sites have a lot more pull and respect in the industry than UnFiction, which as I've said before, has become more and more of a joke since Cloverfield made its appearance on July 4th. This subforum has embarrassed an entire website. It's a real shame.

And here's the money shot:

Quote:
The best thing about Slusho was watching nerds on the internet piece it into their constructed plotline for Cloverfield, claiming in all seriousness that the monster originates from a deep-sea drilling effort for the secret ingredient for a soft drink, not at all aware that this is a retarded idea for a story that would never make it into a movie, because their dramatic sensibilities have been stunted by countless years of JRPGs.

So true, so true...
