I've never played an ARG, but from the way everyone's talking, I'm guessing that password protected sites are not common in these things. Is that true?

And, really stupid question, but, just to be clear: if we try to guess the password, is that hacking? Illegal?

I'm new to the ARG world as well, but from what I can gather- this "game" isn't even that in depth. YET.

Mentioned above, the PB account used to be an open account until a couple of kids on here found it and were checking it out. My guess is that it's password protected now because they're hosting the pics that'll go up on MySpace for our enjoyment. If we hack the PW it'll spoil the fun, imo.

I don't think it's illegal (not a stupid question) but if a bunch of rabid fans kept leaking your shit early, you'd probably pull the brakes too.

--- the "laws" I refered to are the ARG commandments (in the link)---

I agree with that, maybe the only clue we could get from that is the word sarahnettluete, which probably means be nice people and don't hack this site

Thanks for the info. As they say in Raising Arizona: "Okay, then."

So, no hacking photobucket - for all the reasons you mentioned, Dr. Panda.

As to the deleted myspace page - recall that we did find those myspace pages very quickly - the pics were set to private at first, etc., as if they were still putting it all together. I know SQUAT about myspace, but could our too-quick-discovery have something to do with the deleted myspace page - I mean, is there any reason to have a myspace page just for photo distribution purposes, amongst the other pages? [did that make any sense? Confused ].

Has there been ARG precedent for a company essentially asking the public to hack its sites to gain clues to play a game?

Look, if we find the password in game, its ok. But if you take actual steps to HACK the page, you've gone overboard. If its not easily guessed and doesn't fit the fiction, leave it be, just to be safe. I hate to see any of us in orange jump suits.

As for the missing Sarah Myspace page, no. There is No reason you need one myspace to set up others, thus my questioning this Sarah-nice-people

I've been wondering this, too, for a while. But I don't think getting into the account is what they want us to do, if it even plays any significance. If just anyone could get into the account, anyone could edit it, adding or deleting this as they see fit. If anything, we'd have to find the pics that are in the album. For example, the picture that Jaime posted on, I think, Robs comments, if you take the address and tweak it so that it only says jamboxinthevolvowindshield.jpg on the end, you get a larger picture of it.

One thing you can get from an anagram of Sarah Nettleute is: Teen Turtles Aha. Or, Turtle Teens Aha. I only mention this because Hud just added a new blog today and, in it, he mentions that Leonardo was always his favorite Turtle; obviously, a ref. to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

So, w/some punctuation thrown in, Sarah Nettleute becomes:
"Turtle Teens... Aha!" or "Teen Turtles... Aha!"

Just a wild shot in the dark.

So you think your solution ot this game is HACKING A PHOTOBUCKET SITE?!?

As I said before, if you guys want to hack it, go for it.

I'll be kicking back drinking some beers and eating some nachos while you guys enjoy like sleeping with one eye open in PMITA prison.

Have fun! Say hi to your cell mate, Romper Stomper.

I don't think finding a password to a photobucket file is going to land you in Alcatraz...

nice. raising arizona is by far one of the greatest films of all time.. I have my folks to thank for that one... stay on topic...

the myspace page that was deleted is either:
A) a character not ready to be revealed
B) a test run of the pages, checking to see everything worked
C) one of the PM screwing around

...mel- the last line makes some sense. Myspace is just an electronic networking tool. For the movie though, it's giving us fans a way to get pumped for the flick (which is working in some ways and not in others [why'd I get added by three of them, and not the others?])

way off topic (in the wrong thread.. i know) ... but lets not hack the PB. Lets make peace and hold hands. If anything this "sarah" is someone we should be on the look out for. has anyone tried searching for her on myspace?

AND HELO - whats with the nachos? why not switch it up a little? how bout a sandwich? lol

Nachos are the perfect food! They have every food group in them. But if you insist, I can find something else to fill the bill... such as a shrimp cocktail or something like that.

As long as it goes with beer, we should be okay. You're more than welcome to join in the festivities.

(My plan: All of the hot gals over the age of 21 who frequent this forum can join me for beer + nachos on 1-17-08 right before we go see the movie)

Edited to add my plan.

Alright so in her photobucket we got two of the same pictures. However, why is one of them look like it was put into photoshop and the ocean ripple effect was used.

You can look at her photobucket I hadn't changed the photos in anyway. You can tell their the same because of the baby's head being turned at the exact same angle. Does anyone else find it strange that there is a doll randomly floating in the picture?

What I meant, sorry been up all night just lookin at stuff trying to catch up with everything. Still thats a little odd for a photobucket picture. Might wanna try and identify the drink that is sitting on top of the car. She says she's a jack daniel's person yet its not jack daniel's.

I know this is WAY!!! Out there, but let me have a little fun for a second. Say the monster/creature or whatever u wanna call it can do some type of sonic blast which causes everything to fly back hence the jam box (called a jam box in the picture) that flew into the window with a ripple like a type of sonic wave.

The bottle of alcohol on top of the car is a bottle of Captain Morgan. Also, there is half of a baby doll stuck to the tree in the picture...kinda creepy. And upon checking out the cached version of the photobucket, I'm gonna go ahead and say that it isn't significant to the ARG/viral marketing campaign. It's just there to host pictures.
