[Spec] Victim or Accomplice?
People in Videos

Since looking into the characters in more detail, and going over all the videos, I've started to wonder exactly how many of the people shown in the videos are potential victims, and how many are potential accomplices. I haven't seen this discussed in any other place, though once again it may be simply me missing information in past posts I've gone over (wouldn't be the first time).

Obviously Nora would be placed as a victim, as we've already witnessed her demise at the hands of an unseen assailant. Ru-Mi's roomie (sorry...had to) would be placed as one as well, though from current evidence she wasn't in contact with anybody over the internet via IM or Videochat. The mental state that Ru-Mi is found in during video6 would place her as a potential victim, though the fact that her room mate was first killed is a bit unsettling. If Ru-Mi ends up as a murder victim then the mental break down of the victim can be considered a potential pattern in these murders.

The more I see of the football player the more I think he's not in danger, though whoever he's chatting with seems to have an unhealthy interest in certain aspects of his college life. However, his apparent lack of understanding would keep him from being placed as a current accomplice (though possibly a future one) The Magician, having actually given clues at points in the videos seems more likely to be an accomplice of the murderer. If we go by the idea that Eddie is on the other end of these conversations he could be placed as a fellow soldier glad to see a friend again outside of battle. edit: After a further look around I've found a bit more evidence to actually link Eddie and the Magician. In the Magician's monologue in video 5 he says this:

Magician wrote:
A meeting of minds. What's left of yours and right of mine.

On the timeline page of bristelgoodman.com Eddie says this:

Eddie wrote:
we're beginning to hook up into a single mind capable of understanding things we can't comprehend as individuals – sort of a collective consciousness. Maybe that's what this is or how it could be thought of: one mind trying to find its way.

It's possible that they were in contact about some of these ideas... as far as what's left of Eddie's mind... well, off topic, but you can see his degredation on the timeline and notes page in his posts.

I can't tell for sure whether the singing girl is being recorded from a webcam or not, the angle of the camera is a bit different, as well as the quality of video footage, though that's probably irrelevant. Regardless, the singing girl, DarkAlly, the snide woman, and the religious girl can't be placed by my estimation as of yet, more information needs to be found as to their relation to the webcam chatter, or murderer to be sure. Those talking via webcam match the profiles of the early Nora and Ru-Mi. Unsuspecting, friendly, trusting of whoever they're talking to.

As a hunch, the religious girl cites passages from The Book of Revelation possibly related to the murderer's 'game'. While it's suspicious, it's not solid proof that she's an accomplice or that she's at the very least knowledgeable of what's going on, the murderer could easily have taken part of his clues from things cited in chat.

I think that's all the characters, if not let me know, I've taken it upon myself to know who they all are, so don't hold back on me if I'm off track or forgot anybody. Anybody else have any opinion or thoughts on this subject?[/quote]

Did anyone notice that the magician turned his head during his speech, from looking besides the cam and into the cam? maybe he was just looking at the person on his screen and turned to look the other person "in the eye"?

Went back to look at it, and no, I hadn't really noticed it before. However, I don't think that he'd turn and change his tone so dramatically if what was saying wasn't important. It's a bit cryptic, from the sound of it something on the "inside" just with these two people. If you just read the words he said, "a picture is worth a thousand words, but if you could get fifteen hundred I'd take it, I'd take it and run." It just sounds like a joke, but with his expression and intonation, it seems much more serious.

However, from what I've read, nothing ever really came from studying that particular line. It doesn't seem to tie into any other clue very well, or lead us very directly to anything else...
