Perfumes I Love

I really do wear Lovely. I got a Lovely gift box and absolutely love the "purse roll on". It rolls on like old-fashioned lip gloss...too cool.

I also wear Goddess by Kimora Lee Simmons of Baby Phat. It's hilarious to all of my friends that I wear it...because she and I are not alike AT ALL! But I can't get over the sweetly pink smell...plus the bottle looks like a cut diamond and the perfume is pink and there are little crystals all around the stopper. Love it sitting out on my vanity. Very girly. She has a Gold Goddess perfume out now I am spying.

If you all haven't smelled Covet, get your butt to a department store! It's awesome! I looooove "green-smelling" scents: you know, grassy, citrusy stuff...and this is the best one I've smelled yet...because it's got that fresh/ clean smell but added chocolate notes and tuberrose I think...so my husband likes it too, and I get compliments all of the time...I feel really sophisticated when I wear it because it's so different, but "pretty", too.

I also really like Lancome's Mille & Uno, Bvlgari's Green Tea, Perscriptives' Calyx and, of course, Chanel No. 5...

Whew!!! I'm tired!!!

ncfriend,
patiently waiting on her Covet sample!!

Surprisingly, since this is a contest about a perfume (I got suckered into this, swear!) I don't wear a lot of perfumes...

That said, I tend to use a spray from Calgon called "Hawaiian Ginger", my best friend got me stuck on using it. She'd wear it when we'd go out for our girls' nights out, and left the bathroom smelling all good, so I wanted to smell like that too!

I did wear Tommy Girl for a while, it smelled really clean, and it was the first "grown-up" perfume I wanted to wear.

Let's see...I also have Dream Angels from Victoria Secret, a friend gave it to me as a joke for "bathroom freshener". You'd kind of have to know her to get it (people think she's really materialistic, but she's one of the most generous/amazing/funny/sweet people I know).

Perfume

Good recap Aprilapril. I can't believe I still haven't smelled Covet yet! I've been visiting my sister and haven't gone to the department store to check it out. I can't wait to see how it smells. I usually like lighter scents, heavy ones give me a headache. I like Anais Anais and its my main perfume. My new favorite for the Summer is Rio by Escada. I wonder if any men are here at unfiction playing the game and what they wear as far as cologne?

Thanks Katygmorris! I agree wholeheartedly. Congrats to all the unfiction winners! Although it would be nice for everyone to win something if this is how it is and its not going to change, I'm happy for those that won multiple gifts. Life is never fair but we've got lots more loot to look forward to! Smile (And Emhamm I know how you feel but don't despair I have a feeling you'll win a prize for your great video Wink )

My two cents. . . a little late

Hello all,

I have been a lurker up to this point (mostly because every time I try to post the site tells me there is an error or I'm not allowed to do that). I'd like to express thanks for everyone's honesty and help. There truly are some amazing minds on this site.

My two cents on the prizes is that those of us who aren't winning should just be patient. Maybe if we cross our fingers hard enough we will win. Like many of you. . .I never win anything either. But I keep hopin!

I know most of this has already been said so I apologize for being repetitive.

Oh, and like aprilpapril. . .I'm not really a perfume gal either (maybe it's not that weird if there are two of us?) I like Sweet Pea from Bath and Body. I also like Tommy Girl and the Clinique smells

degravedi
and others from the beginning of the game...

hey, degravedi...you still around? haven't seen you post in a while...just wondering. there are a lot of people from the beginning who i haven't "heard from" lately...

my husband doesn't wear cologne any more (darn it). he used to wear Burberry for men (it's awesome), but my favorite of his was Carolina Herrera...wow...just thinking about it makes me remember "back when"! Laughing

do you all have "scent memories" like that? my grandma used to wear pressed powder by coty and if i walk by it in the drug store i'm instantly taken back to her vanity, putting makeup on with her as a little (like 6-8 yr old) girl.

my mom always wore Chanel No. 5. i wear it now, but as a teenager i hated it!!! (just like i thought i didn't like her!) now i really like it and think of it as sweet and comforting, and i feel like an "adult" when i wear it.

i'll also never forget drakkar noir on all the boys in 7th-9th grade! i'm 31...does anyone else remember that??? Laughing

just like the game is trying to get us to believe, perfume is really powerful stuff. i don't know of another sense that can recall such emotion in me.

and i think after playing this game and looking back on this as such a fun time, i'll have a good connection with covet (and lovely) just like they want us to...it's okay, though...i don't mind. a good memory is never bad!

DRakaar Noir

I remember the boys wearing it (I'm 32)! When I was in middle school and high school I LOVED that smell. Now it makes me gag a little. Same with Polo!

My mom wears Opium. Any time I smell it on someone else or in the store I think of her. When I really miss her (she lives in another state) I go to the department store and sniff samples of it. . .takes me home to Mama for just a little while.

It is weird how our memories can be connected to smells isn't it?

I do remember that! And then when CK One came out, everybody wore it. A guy at work recently got "obsession" from his kids, I sprayed it on a piece of paper and walked around the office with it all day. Laughing I haven't smelled it on him yet, but it reminded me of a high school crush.

Do any of you remember Electric Youth by Debbie Gibson? I think one of Britney Spears' scents smells exactly like that (it may not even be Britney Spears, I do know I was in Target laughing about it though), it immediately took me back to the Junior High locker room after gym class.

I was in a wine class at one point, and we had to get the "bouquet" of the wine, and I blurted out "My GRANDMA'S HOUSE" before the brain filter had a chance to kick on. I swear, it smelled *exactly* like the purple grape juice she forced me to drink. And it, of course, was one of those moments where the whole room is completely quiet. Embarassed

They say that the sense of smell is the closest linked to memory, because it goes directly into your brain. Which is why we associate certain smells with certain events, places and people, and the associations we make with them (positive, negative, neutral).

I also heard that you can't smell more than 3 scents at a time without "ruining" your nose, but coffee beans "reset" your nose, which is why at Ulta they have little containers of beans. Geek

Wow!

I remember Polo and Electric Youth by D. Gibson, too!

What about Exclamation? I wore it around 8th grade and you could buy it at the drug store...(not as expensive)...it was a white, black and hot pink plastic bottle that looked like a circle with a big black excamation point on it! Ooooh, I used to drown myself in that! Embarassed 8th grade prom, baby!

In high school I wore Poison. I looooved the bottle and I thought it was exactly about what I wanted to be: cool, sexy, adult, forbidden, naughty and gorgeous (not cute). My friend Laura and I wore it. It was our "trademark". Now everyone at work (all guys...I work at a materials science lab) vote on my perfume...and the guys' favorite is "Lovely". Interesting, huh?

My husband prefers the "Goddess", though. Go figure!

OMG! you guys are bringing back such memories! Exclamation, Electric Youth, CK1, Drakkar! Such memories! My boyfriend in hs used to wear drakkar and I remember I asked my aunt if she'd help me buy him a bottle because "he's he one!" ironically I am still married to the guy!! I should buy him a bottle for xmas or something. I remember this wasnt a fad or anything but a wierd time in my youth-life was sun moon and stars with a tiny little blue bottle with a sun, moon and stars on it Really cool bottle and it smelled real nice too!

i too am one of those who used to love drakkar-- i thought it was so sexy, and i thought myself so saucy for thinking men's cologne was sexy. now when i see a bottle, i just giggle at youthful silliness. my boyfriend wears black by ralph lauren, and i always bury my face in his neck when he wears it. estee lauder beautiful reminds me of my mother, shalamar reminds me of my one grandmother and chantilly lace of my other grandmother. certain smells have very strong connections, especially food! funny how the same scent takes us all back to the same time period. are we all 30-somethings here?

Scents and music. . .the soundtrack to our lives.
