for example, the budapest post with the (20.02)-- when the pointer is held over the time of the post (6:26am) and the date of 2 september 2007 comes up, doesn't that mean that that was the date of the post?

Video Challenge

emhamm,

I loved your video! I'm going to do one I'm just not sure when I'll get to it. Smile I want to use a song in it but I know everyone is worried about the whole copyright thing. I think the one I want to use is part of public domain though because it's been in a few commercials. Well I hope it is!

JB's Blog

I have to say I'm getting a little tired of this whole star calendar thing! I also can't seem to get any additional information on JB on linkedin without signing up (paying) for an upgraded account. I'm not about to start paying for things to play this game! Mad What is Covet trying to do get us to spend our $$$$ now?

You can get a free account with Linked in. As far as the "extra" info on the linked in profile...I *think* that's it (what you see is what you get), unless he adds you as a contact...I requested a contact add, but haven't gotten any response....yet.

As far as the Islamic Moon calendar/constellation thing...I don't know what that has to do with the price of rice in China, only time will tell if we're even on the path. It could be a nice diversion from the whole trail. But it's interesting to note that on the blog it's an Islamic Lunar Calendar image and the first crescent moon...that realization was a headdesk/face palm/DUH! moment for me.

That said:

The thing is, the *First* number is the Day of the date, but I haven't found anything to indicate what the *second* number is.

I think it's more the Islamic/Lunar Calendar rather than the constellations, at this point, I've found a Ramadan calendar where they use the decimal point to indicate the date. Let me explain the history, and maybe that will shed some light on the subject:

Muslims use the first crescent moon to determine the beginning of the month, which means their months run roughly 29-30 days, depending on the moon cycle. The problem they started running into rather quickly was if it was cloudy, or the moon didn't rise/set at the same time for whatever reason, it was difficult to start the next month, so they came up with mathematical equations to chart the moon. A lot of our instruments for observing the sky came from the Middle East/Islamic tradition, in large part due to Christianity's influence over Europe during the Middle Ages, and Christianity's use of a solar calendar. So words like "Azimuth" and "zenith" are Arabic in origin, and some stars have Arabic names (Betelgeuse, for example).

We could be putting our cart before the horse, or we could be right on track, who knows?

JB's Blog & linkedin

Hi Aprilapril,

Thank you!! Wow, I'm impressed with your knowledge. I read some of that info. on wikipedia but I will admit my head starts to spin! I think we will need to use this blog info. again. This reminds me of last week with the reading material m. szglas gave us. We got that ahead of time to look at and they gave us this jb blog ahead of time to look at. They don't seem to do anything for no reason.

As far as the linkedin site I tried to make a connection with jb and it keeps telling me I have to sign up for the pay account. I don't know how you were able to do it without paying. oh well. I'll try again tomorrow with a fresh head. Thanks!!! Smile

check p. 52. It outlines how I was finally able to find JB public page. It was not something I was familiar with.

REALLY!?! I signed up a while back and it was free...well, I say that, there was an option to have a paid account (I can assure you, I didn't pay a *cent* for my account)...have they changed it, I wonder? If so...*lame*!! Rolling Eyes

I feel so important

Mr. Barnesworth himself has added me as a connection on linkedin!!

Also, I've made another connection, one Dr. Martin from Montgomery Alabama, with whom I apparently worked with while at Barnes K.

Interestingly enough, I also see I have several almost connections at my other job, a Researcher for Unfiction. (heh heh heh)

edited to add: no, you do not have to pay for the basic account at linkedin. you DO have to pay for an upgraded account if you want to contact people though linked in, but no... no payment required for a basic account. What y ou want to do after you get the basic free account is click on "make 'so-n-so' a connection. It will initiate an invitation only if you have something in common (like listing Barnes K. in your faux work history) and the user has set him/her self up to get connection invitations.

dont get "contacting" confused with "connecting".. two different things.

I just sent a reconnect to the four people on there that have Barnes K as a company.

April MacMillian, so if you get something from me, that's um...me.

I went to Macy's website to see about getting ahold of some of this amazing perfume. $70 a bottle! Maybe I'll just hope to win the gift bag. Or order more free samples. Anyone smelled it yet?
