Mama Petrelli is still around and she had some sort of arrangement with Linderman to get her son elected and blow up the city. It seemed kind of obvious that Linderman had some other business involving people with powers. Perhaps she takes over (or was in charge all along) and that's the Linderman Group 2.0 for this season?

This may be nit picky, but Chiribiqete National Park is in Colombia. As I understood it, Colombia is in South America, not Central America.

Edit : also any guesses on who the American couple were that found the village?

Columbia is the northern most country in South America and so it's conceivable that the story could show up in a Central American newspaper.

Negative. The last one that was there was the "I'm in China" post.

Yes, when the text message first went out, the site hadn't quite updated yet, as the I'm in China post was the most recent.

Took them a little while to update the site, apparently.

Now I'm almost certain that post has been seen before, after all websites have appeared early, only to be taken down later, so who knows.

After using the fabled search option for the first time, I found this
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=323891

"The Death of Hana" webcomic might be the source of the confusion, but I had a severe case of deja-vu reading that post Shocked

Thought I'd post a full translation. Some of this might be a little off, but the main ideas are there.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Mysterious Deaths Ignite Rumors That Involve Cartel
San Jose of the Guaviare

All the inhabitants of a remote town located to the south of the Vaupes River were found dead by hikers who explored the mountainous zones of Chiribiqete National Park. The hikers, a man and a woman from the western United States discovered the macabre scene when they arrived at the town. They described it as "something that only the Devil could have done". The couple prefers to remain anonymous.

Exploring the scene in detail, they discovered dozens of corpses, which showed a film-like substance around the eyes.

"We saw the town from a mountain and as our water was running out, we decided to go down to refill". When we entered the place there were no signs of life. It was as if life had stopped and the world had followed its course".

Medical equipment was sent to the place, but has not yet determined the cause of the tragedy.

The area, that has for a long time been thought to serve as a hiding place to the Borjas Cartel, is well-known to be rich in natural resources.

Many of the natives who inhabit these regions speculate that residents of the town was used as laborers in the dispute between the Borjas and a group of constructors who tried to take control of the remote region.

As of publication of this article, no survivors have been found.

wild guess here but in the episode 5 years later wasnt there a kid you could either manipulate either air or oxygen, could of been caused by him, cant remember where the location of the kid was but if it is in hte same area might be on to something.(the kid in question is the one hrg is talking to with the parents)

Well NBC has confirmed that one of the new heroes for season 2 is a latina woman on the run towards America with her twin brother, so I think this is her introduction. They haven't said what her power is yet but it looks to be pretty badass.

There are a lot of spoilers around for the new season and who some of the new characters will be. I'm not sure how much of this you guys have already, and it doesn't deal with the arg at all, just the show. I'll link to my main source in a second.

But first, a warning. Some of the stuff they get can be very spoily. Detailed descriptions of episodes, The major twists that are supposed to take place. Who dies, who isn't really dead, all that stuff. It's usually very accurate. So if you don't want to know, don't click.

Something important to the article might be this:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The powers of new Heroes Maya (Dania Ramirez) and Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) are connected. Dania told us this about her brother, "We need each other." We also hear that despite reports the fraternal twins are from the Dominican Republic, they're actually from Central America and will either be leaving from or at least passing through San Cristobal, Honduras.

Yup, couple of updates.

First, a translation of the first article.

Quote:
TRANSLATION RECEIVED
Julián A. from Costa Rica sent me this translation to the article I posted last week. Not sure how much light it sheds on things. Read for yourself and let me know what you think.

Hi Wireless,

The translation goes as follows:

Martin Del Olmo

San José del Guaviare – All inhabitants from a small village located south of the Vaupes River were found dead by excursionists as they explored the mountainous areas of the Chiribiquete National Park. The excursionists –a couple hailing from the West of the U.S. – discovered the macabre scene and succinctly described it as "the work of the devil". The couple has preferred not to disclose personal information.

Taking a closer look at the scene, dozens more of corpses were found. All of which were found with a foil-like substance in their eyes.

"We spotted the village from the mountains. As we had no more water we decided to come down to re-supply ourselves." No life-signs were to be seen as they entered the village. It was as if life had stopped and the world had continued its course.

A medical team was dispatched to the village, but there have been no announcements regarding the cause of the tragedy, but there have been no announcements regarding the cause of the tragedy.

This area long believed to serve as a hide out for the Borja Cartel is known for its wealth in natural resources. Many of the native inhabitants suggest that the inhabitants of the village were often used as pawns in the struggle between the Borjas and a group of investors that have been trying to claim part of this remote region.

So far no survivors have been found.

Greetings from Central America,
Julián A.
San José, Costa Rica.

HG

Then the Panama article.

Quote:
PANAMA CANAL
A reader from Central America emailed me this clipping. It's a story from the Panama Canal Zone. From what I can tell, it could be related to the earlier story. It sounds like someone... or something... is on a rampage in South America. I only hope whatever it is doesn't strike again. No witnesses appear to survive whatever it is that is happening. If someone can translate this, you can email it to me at wirelessSPLATsamantha48616e61.com.

Edit to add: This morning the following appeared in my email:
Quote:
Subject: Connect the dots
Okay, at first it was just my natural curiosity but now it's time to play connect the dots. I'm convinced we are onto something. New deadly disease?
Twisted killer on the loose? Help me search for the answer here:

Hey I am new to the Heroes 360 but I loved the show and want to get involved this season... I saw that someone posted a translation of the second article on the HeroesARG website. Here it is:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Translated from Spanish, the article reads:
Canal Authorities Investigate the Death of a Contractor
Ricardo Miñyaman

Panama Canal, August 1st—Two officials of the Panama National Guard, during a routine daily round, found the bodies of five civil engineers who were found studying a forest region to the south of the Gatun locks, as part of the expansion project of the Canal, whose construction is planned to start at the end of the present month.

Officials Andenio Núñez and Martín Gulza found the bodies yesterday morning at approximately 8:30. The eyes of each one of the dead dripped an oily, black substance. Up to this moment, the cause of the death is unknown.

The official Núñez, who was the official of the Canal Zone Police before the Panamanian government took control of it in 1999, related local legends over the original intent the construction of the Canal by the French at the beginning of the 1880s, "20,000 people died. Another 5,000 more died when the Americans arrived to construct. The farmers say that the canal is haunted. They think that the deaths are a warning sent by the dead to stop the construction of the third lock.

Malaria was a common cause of death in the area 100 years ago, but it has not been a serious problem in the last decades. Dr. Petronila Álvarez, the medical adviser for the Canal's authority, has said firmly that there is no indication that these deaths have been caused by malaria or any other tropical sickness.

Local farmers, who were already worried about the expropriations and environmental impact of the new lock's construction, said they are not very certain. "There are many strange things in the forest," a farmer said. "They are asking destiny for bad things with this new lock. I fear for my family."

When a spokesman for the Canal's authority was asked, he said, "We are analyzing each possible cause of death and we will give a report when we have more information."

Cheers

Unfortunately, the side column is stuff left over from the very beginning of this extended experience. They've left it up there all year long. It's fun reading (and listening to the voice mail messages further down on the site are funny).
