Johnny Got His Gun was made into a retro-styled movie in the 70s and was eventually included in a Metallica music video for a song they wrote inspired by it. Can't remember the song name.

 		Has anyone noticed the emoticon by Samuel's email address? (you can see it when you open up the email) If you hover over it with your mouse it prompts you to send an instant message. Has anybody tried to do this?

hmm... that synopsis kind of reminds me of the English Patient.... but anyway. This is seeming more and more like Jacob's ladder.
Especially with an anti-war book.
What was the other one about?

UPDATE: I queried R.F. about what he wrote in his little notebook.
I don't think he wrote the note being that the paper was old and yellowed, like it was written a long time ago.
I've also dropped him the theory that the tape and the books may ALSO have appeared in the house.
Even if it's his imagination, I suspect that if he does find the video, it may provide an clue.... even an answer.

I don't think that Samuel is any less intelligent than R.F. I copied all of the emails in this thread and just read through them. Sammy said he was sick too, but had gotten treatment and was a lot better but he also said this....

I think he is still having problems and hallucinations and the meds that repress them can mess up a lot of cognitive functions. I think he was one of the Psychologists involved in the project, and I think he wants to convince R.F. to get help (I don't understand why R.F. won't get help).

But seriously. Is he telling anyone else of this? Is his doctor concerned, or anything? Does he have contact with anyone else?

And ask him when does the black goo most "ejaculate" (for lack of a better word) out of an object? Does it do it with certain ones?

 		New post up. Greg emphasizes injuries and other strange happenings. He doesn't go into the actual hallucinations much.

Nice to hear he'll probably be posting every now and then on the blog.

I think Almijisti is right about the Red King controlling things. It still seems very odd that they won't seek medical attention.

Seems to me something like this would show up on an MRI, they are not only fighting for their sanity, but possibly their lives whereas so many of their colleagues have gone missing.

I think that Samuel Tyler is the only one of their group to have sought medical help.

This was a disappointing blog post. I didn't really learn anything new.

I would like to have his neighbor's account of what happened with the squatter.

Also... there's another person in the background of this whole mess. And it's likely not Samuel (unless he's using a different email address.)
The guy that got his mind checked hasn't contacted anyone. That's.... odd.

i had asked him why he was so interested in how r.f. was going and so on.

i keep coming back to johnny got his gun... the feeling of discovery and ensuing despair of the poor man who is helpless to help himself. is this addition to the hallucination an attempt by r.f.'s subconcious to show how it is feeling? trapped and helpless? or is this imagery a shout from the man they tested on during redking?

i'm more likely to lean towards the second.

i am also interested in what is happening to the people who are dropping off the face of the earth, who were involved with the project. it would be neat if tapes or notebooks or something showed up from one of them.

in the email samuel says that he has ways of keeping tabs on his fellow victims, and that some of them still know...

still know what?

is it worth a shot to see if samuel would give access to some of these other people?

The other victims may not know that Samuel is contacting them. He used strange methods of contacting R.F. (well rather harrassing methods) and R.F. says he doesn't know/remember the person.

I think the squatter is one of the other victims and possibly the subject. I would really like to hear the neighbor's account of what happened when they went into the woods. The box that had the video in it was gone when the police got there, so either the squatter removed it before he ran or R.F. took it with him.

It's definitely worth a shot to find out if Samuel will give us a way to contact the others, but so far he hasn't been any more forthcoming with info than R.F. I wish we had been given a way to contact Greg.

Could be wrong, but, according to what "really" happened, the box, tapes, and books didn't exist at all, from what the police found....

You're right, but I really want that tape to exist and I really want to see it. Laughing I would still like to know what the neighbor experienced, R.F.'s wife wasn't there and yet we're taking her word for what happened.

Yeah, me too.
According to what "really" happened, the green printed, yellowed note didn't exist, either.
Personally, I think R.F. may find the tape, whether it's supposed to exist or not.

And I also would like to hear the neighbor's side of the story. But something tells me R.F. would say the neighbor told the same story as everyone else....

First, from my most recent correspondence with Sammy:

I will be blunt for once: I do not know what happened to the subject. I know they were dissatisfied with him. I know they did something to him. I know they've done everything they can to separate him from anyone else involved on the project. I know anyone who says they've come contacted him is lying because I know what they've all been doing and I would. . . I guess know if they were speaking with him.


Sammy had previously stated that the Red King was the person who was part of the experiment responsible for the "accidents" that started occurring (emphasis added):

I had to fix the people you see. That was my job. They had a man whose mind they studied. He did some eerie things in his past. They wanted to understand and control him. Some people there jokingly referred to him as the Red King. I don't always remember what I was doing there. . . I know I was supposed to help people.Employees were being tracked to make sure that if they were hurt they could receive immedate attention. I remember an overturned truck and a man covered in glass and mud. I remember a man's face being permanently scarred from an electrical accident. I remember a man losing a hand. ...


These accidents to others in the Project were confirmed in the conversation that Greg and RF had (person who lost a hand, car accidents, person who's face was etc.). That's important because it confirms that Sammy was, in fact, involved in the Project (or at least has detailed knowledge). More interesting, I am convinced that Greg refers to Sammy:

This pretty much matches what Sammy himself claims he was doing (see above quote from Sammy's message). It also may be a key to why Sammy is different from the others--he may well have been an addict or may have been "conditioned" to be somehow insulated from the project. That may well be the cause of his unusual behaviour--so far, for instance, we have no mention of Sammy having any hallucinations (though Sammy himself only entered the room after the experiment when awry--that could explain some things too).

The key to the whole thing is clearly the Red King himself, i.e, the subject of the experiment. He is not who R.F. or Greg was led to believe he was and Greg is certainly leaning that way as is R.F. upon learning of the remarkably high I.Q. Someone else, the "puppet master(s)" of the experiment, were up to something else--the Red King was chosen precisely because he was not normal. He was chosen because he was special and because, as Sammy said, he had done some "weird things in his past".

I've asked R.F. directly if the subject was the Red King, just to confirm; though this is already apparent:

The "the" above means that Greg was about to refer to the subject by a title, rather than a name (and he didn't say "the subject", else R.F. would not have set that word off with brackets). We'll see where this goes.

This is beginning to look like Door to December, as someone else has said before.
Maybe the Red King's brain is so advanced that he's trying to communicate with everyone involved in the experiment against all odds (the odds being here, the fact that he's impenetrably contained by God knows what.)
Has an IQ as high as the Red King's ever been recorded before?
