This is beginning to look like Door to December, as someone else has said before.
Maybe the Red King's brain is so advanced that he's trying to communicate with everyone involved in the experiment against all odds (the odds being here, the fact that he's impenetrably contained by God knows what.)
Has an IQ as high as the Red King's ever been recorded before?

Thanks. The IQ is very high, but it's difficult to compare since there are numerous ways of measuring IQ (and many people don't believe any are accurate or that IQ is even a useful measure of anything other than the ability to take a particular test). The highest "confirmed" IQ was Marilyn vos Savant , though she took the test at 13 and has refused to be tested again (she's in her 60s now).

The strange face in the vid-cap R.F. posted looks to have some sort of symbol on the "forehead". Any ideas what this may be?

After zooming in on the face, the marks on the forehead appear to be contour lines.

Good job on drawing the connection between the two accounts of accidents (losing a hand, electrical injury to face, etc.). This is all starting to come together.

Yeah, I see that, too.
One thing that's odd, though.
What are those dim lines within the white squares?
They look like frequency measurements of some sort....

yeah, zooming over 800 times makes the lines appear to simply be contour lines.

this little adventure strikes me more as being an exploration of the story itself, than a "crack the code" kind of thing...

though, i must confess that i tried everything i knew to do with the note, and came up with nothing more than gibberish and silly stuff.

Yeah, this is definitely a game of trust.
The puzzle is simple, yet extremely difficult.
Find the truth within the lies.

The Room
sorry for the double post....

My amnesia's kept me up long enough to witness an update.
R.F. had a nightmare, and it's a lot like the hospital scene in Jacob's Ladder, but instead of decay, it's completely sterile.
There's also a Johnny's Got his Gun reference.
Also an apparent break in. Black muddy hand prints leading our troubled scientist to one of the items that wasn't supposed to exist in the shack: a cassette tape of heavy breathing and people in the distance that just came out of cars.
I'd REALLY like to listen to that tape.

I want to hear the tape, but I mostly want to see the video. At least he shared the image that Greg gave him.

Quote:
I encountered a series of black handprints leading from my kitchen floor into the basement

Black handprints on the floor? Did someone crawl throught the house?

I hope he gets to meet Sammy in person so we can know if he's the "creepy little guy" or not.

I've only watched the trailer for Jacob's Ladder. Let me guess, the part where they wheel him in a seemingly harmless operation, but it goes all decayed and the doctors strap him to some sort of torture device, and they're going to operate on him, alive.

Anyway, I think the handprints are the Little Boy Blue's... unless, they're too small.

Ask him if he's ever heard of Silent Hill. I have a feeling that the Dream Cop might play a Pyramid Head-like role, as punisher. (not like from the films, where he just killed random people.)

Personally, I don't lump the film in with the games.
Understand that these are only hand prints R.F. has found.
If the person crawled, where are the knee prints?
The dream cop doesn't seem to me like a punisher at all, anymore.
Not since he (I could be wrong on WHO said this, but) told R.F. not to "go that way" in the shack in his dream.
That was much more of a warning than a threat, and that's nothing the executioner (PH) would do.

It could be someone (or someTHING) that walks on its hands... there's several people who were disabled and had the lower torso cut off, so they walked on their hands...

Funny, D1ABL0 hasn't posted on, anymore. Didn't the rules say you can't use guest status to promote your own ARG?

There's nothing to link this to Silent Hill. As for Jacob's Ladder, it seems that the PM drew a lot of ideas from it.

Consider WI. It was Bambos' own project, and didn't promote anything, but the story drew heavily from Neil Gaiman's The Sandman comics. I think a similar thing is going on here, in which case, while it may interest us that elements of The Red King Project resemble those of Jacob's Ladder, we would be wasting time trying to draw connections other than the thematic.

There are three sources, however, that the PM has confirmed: Through the Looking Glass, Johnny Got His Gun, and The Sun Also Rises. These, I believe, may be relevant to the story in ways we haven't anticipated. Our focus should be here, if anywhere.

EDIT: Out of curiosity, Velociraptor, what makes you think that the figure in the video is a cop? You seem to have labeled it more or less arbitrarily, in that, while its stance may resemble that of a crossing guard (is that what you were getting at?), neither R.F. nor anyone else has mentioned anything about a policemen. I think it's dangerous to move too far away from our sources of information.

Hey all. I am new to ARGs (this is actually my first one) and I must say that I am getting completely drawn in. The idea that there is a constantly evolving story that is discovered by a community of people working together is extremely appealing to me.

In any case, one thing that I'm not sure that anyone pointed out concerns the black fluid from R.F.'s dreams. It's not the fact that he dreamed about it that concerns me, it's that he saw a jar of black fluid at the squatters place in the woods. Is this the same substance? If so, that would mark the first time that his dreams and his "hallucinations" have crossed paths, if I'm not mistaken. I posted a question about this on the blog hoping to get a clearer idea as to what the substance is about.

Sartor, I christened him that, because someone kept referring him as "Guardian". Plus, the thing looked Tron-like (or so they say) and he's holding out his arms like a traffic cop.

Good thinking, and welcome to unFiction, Brettrick Smile.

I was the one who referred to the figure as a guardian because it was assumed by the scientists that he was guarding the Red King's subconscious mind.

RF's response to my question in the Greg-meeting post confirms that the subject was called the "Red King", so that's another plus for Sammy's knowledge of the project.

The black goo stuff reminds me of the recurring theme in the X-Files where the aliens infect people with this black oil substance. I don't think there's any connection, though the Red King also reminds me of the X-Files episode about the guy who makes people commit suicide by getting inside their minds. At best, I think it's X-Files is another source of ideas; otherwise it's probably just coincidence. But I don't think there's any direct connection (if that show had still been on when ARGs became all the rage, I'm sure they would have taken advantage of it).
