[Spec] First Third of the Movie

I found this site a while ago http://www.cloverfield-movie.com/blog/, today they posted what basically happens in the first third of the movie. Give it a read, sounds pretty interesting. There is a spoiler warning obviously, take it how you want, just thought i would let you all know. Haven't seen anyone post about it yet.

And yes, faker than hell. That entire thing was based off of a trailer and a call sheet. And the guy who wrote it would definitely not leak his story, nor anybody on set. Not if they wanted to keep working in the industry, anyways.

The story sounds likely, but it's nothing nobody else could have guessed at. Probably fake, the story sounds a bit "eh" to me.

First, fake.

Second, if that really -were- the plot of the movie, you would have already lost 90% of your audience.

JJ's not looking for something that preposterous, complicated or strange. He wants an American monster movie.

Godzilla--easy. Dinosaur gets irradiated by nuclear bomb. Gets big--gets pissed.

King Kong--easy. Lost island, big ape. Ape gets brought to NY--gets loose--dies from falling off something.

Gamera--easy. Space turtle comes to Earth, saves mankind.

Mothra--easy. Gigantic larva hatched from prehistoric egg. Tiny women sing to it and it becomes a moth.

This plot as listed is stupid, inane, complicated...and not easy at all.

Boy, do I wish people on the Internet would raise their standards at ALL. (No, that's not aimed here or at the first poster of this thread. It's actually aimed at gullible people like the admin there who post ANYTHING in case it turns out to be an actual scoop.)

Hrm. Maybe I'll get myself made a source for some of these sites. See how far I can get them to run with me... Smile

I should of worded my first post a little bit better, but it was late i just got home from work and i was tired. It looks to me like its what somebody thinks going to happen, everything makes sense to me from what slusho is; to the aggressive/non-aggressive organisms. Maybe the aggressive organism took control of a squid and then it mutated someway to make it more of a predator, sounds like an original monster to me. Although it coming through the sewers doesn't tell us why the SOL had its head ripped off. To me it doesn't bother me if its fake or not, just interesting stuff. Its not like anything we find on the internet is real about the movie anyway. I still can't believe that not much stuff has leaked about this movie, they really want to keep it secret.

LOL

its clearly meant to be written in humor that everyone will believe it to be true and get all into it until the end... note the source steaknbj.com... its a joke video site...

I like the idea for a movie though... quite creative.. but definitely a little bit too far out.. I like that he included many of the titles "cloverfield"..

In other words, you're saying it's yet another hoax.

I agree.

Hurm...

So, let me see if I got this straight...

Back in Pangea, when "life on Earth was still at the multi-cell level"... boy, those were the days, huh? Back in the primitive "multi-cell" times? Not like today, what with the super-mega-multi-celled level of life that we got. Anyway, I digress - back to our story...

So, there were these two types of ... parasite? It's not exactly clear what kind of organisms they were, but there were passive and aggressive ones, and they stayed put! That is, "they remained mostly in their habitat." Since habitat is singular, we can only assume that the passives and aggressives shared the same habitat. Ok, so, the passive ones enjoyed a symbiotic relationship with...umm.. something that wasn't them. The aggressive ones, true to their name, weren't symbiotic with nothin' and nobody! They're like, "symbiotic? HA! Symbiote this, ya' passive piece of garbage!" Instead, these aggressive... things... adopted a strategy of "control[ling] larger beings for their survival." And, since life was still lumbering along at the "multi-cell level" these larger beings could have been, well, anything I guess - dinosaurs, trees, birds, fish, insects, you name it!

Everybody with me so far?

So, Pangea breaks apart and ... oh wait, I forgot - the aggressive ... things... liked to eat the passive... things... and they satisfied this desire "as often as possible by going around the land mass." Presumably, this doesn't mean they circumvented the mega-continent, but that they roamed all over it. Since both kinds of organism/parasite/thing "remained mostly in their [shared?] habitat," their habitat must have been the entire continent. So, LAND, basically, was "their habitat."

Aaaanyway, they all die in some big disaster and end up, dead, at the bottom of the ocean. The continents break apart and settle into what we're familiar with today and N.America happens to be parked just over the one spot where all the aggressive organisms ended up, at the bottom of the ocean, one billion years ago.

Then, a Japanese company puts the passive... things... into a drink called "Slusho!" and all the waste from NYC sewers "awakens a very hungry and aggressive organism." Hence, the movie.

What's at ALL unclear about that?
