[INFO] - Server 04 audio file from the Bounce Path Control page The transcription and recording are available on the wiki, but I'd heard no discussion of here, so here it is for your perusal:

Quote:
In the grand ballet of stars, we are almost the same, you and I.
Breathtaking and mundane, but my identity is not your concern.
I am expected - doors open for me and the Universe sighs.
But the unexpected, the chance to regain the future -
You need look no closer than yourself.
The legends that spring up around unaccountable signs,
The tiniest differences that make the world inhabitable,
That's how to you came to be known, that's our connection,
That's why I lead you to the renowned.
Haven't you seen the signs, redeemer?
The small, under-the-surface bridges between all this?
Those connections saved you before,
But this time you are on your own.
We are all on our own.

I think this is one of the more important transmissions.
It's saying we won't have another FCC or Amazon situation, and we might already have what we need for Server 5.
Also the line: 'My Identity is not your concern' was also said by NeoAR. Followed by "My intent is your concern".

Durandal?
I wasn't a Marathon player, but for those of you who were/are, does this smack of Durandal?
It sounds so much like something timeless speaking to the Chief. Like whatever vocalized that hidden lament in 2.

Hmm. It does actually. Not quite mad enough to be him, hever never resisted a chance to mock you mercilessly.
Although. Having said that. That poem does do that as well just a little subtler this time. definitely smug enough.

Well In Marathon Infinity Durandal(Tycho) was trying to leave this universe and get outside it so he can control its recreation, maybe he did and this is a repercussion.

I agree, it sounds like Durandal. Im still thinking Durandal became Gravemind by plotting ever so correctly to become organic *sighs in the corner*

Hrm...ya' think they re-releaded Marthon:Durandal just to get people up to speed on who Durandal is, just in time to reveal his place in the Halo-verse?
Yeah, I think I'll join ya' in the corner, man.

Marathon takes place after Halo though. Although there was time travel...but I'm not sure how that worked...

I had a thought about that last night actually. If halo is in the marathon timeline, right now the marathon is well on the way to it's destination of tau ceti, meaning durandal really can't do much near earth. We know he is rampant at this point but he's keeping it a damned secret to everyone else.
Marathon infinity though, time went nuts. Each chapter was a "what if" secenario that while being seperate, still managed to tie into other sequences and by the end, everything had been, nearly reset into proper place with a couple of changes made permanent.
At the end of marathon he had merged with the ancient spht-kr AI Toth as well. Now he wandered around the universe waiting for the end but he wasn't always a patient one. So perhaps he went back in time and made some alterations to the time-line to suit his needs? Perhaps this is not the mad bastard we met in Marathon, perhaps this is a much older durandal ensuring certain things happen so he can reach the closure.
Perhaps we're just so obsessed with the mad AI that we'll put him in any theory that sounds cool.
oh and damnit. I'm going to go read the plot again.
For those that are interested, there is a nice little discussion page here including all the panels in the game and theories about the out of place and downright weird panels. Have fun. Hehehe.
Oh and yeah. Cortana = Catherine Halsey in digital form. AI's either have a father or a mother (Depending on the gender of the dead brain that's consumed to make the AI) That also has a part in shaping the AI's personality as seen with Durga/Yasmin from ILB's.

Nicely spotted. I saw that while reading the marathon story page, but I didn't quite make that connection.

I like Lord Baztard's theory. Maybe Durandal went back and changed everything where were left with the Halo universe...
that sounded better in my head

Just re-read the Marathon timeline. 100 years still left blank in the critical time-frame.
But how to reconcile the Haloverse with the races we know in Marathon, if it's at all possible?
Would the Halo-stream be the "reset" universe of Durandal? A timeline that is replaying in similar fashion, but with slightly different players, with Durandal outside and master of time?
And there's still the W'rcanacter (sic) = Flood theories out and about.
Um. Yeah. That's about all I got.
