Don't worry about using whatever language gets your point across. Just please, please don't say the V-word. Smile

Yes, I too can hear the *distinct* sound that a cuckoo clock makes and that point of the video.

Now for the context of this ARG:
Is there anything special about the building that the SOL head hits?
Is there a connection between that building and the Ding Dong lounge?

Does anyone think that the Switzerland jacket, Swiss Cuckoo clock, Swiss cheese, and possibly Swiss Chocolate are related and may have something to do with the movie?

Are the Oven Mitss swiss?

Is the Hammer swiss?

maybe its the swiss government that discovers the monsters origin you know like the french discovered godzilla was heir mistake , just abarams omage to godzilla maybe Question

Honestly, guys, I think we might be looking a little too hard at the trailer. Yes, there is a cuckoo clock noise. Yes, most movies blend tons of "everyday" noises together to make novel noises, and you can hear them if you listen carefully.

The main function of the trailer is to get you interested in the viral campaign. There may be a hint or two (slusho shirt anyone?) But this early in the game, I think "CLUES!" will be fairly apparent, leading to actual puzzles.

Its tough, but... patience is good, here.

Or, perhaps, are we the cuckoos?

My family's cuckoo clocks are Black Forest; the sound I'm hearing is definitely not the same that we get from the pair. Which, probably as far as any of this goes, is pretty damn irrelevant. Batman may have to crack a case by tracking a cuckoo clock's sound at some point in his career, but I doubt we gotta for a movie.

edit to add - I'm not really disagreeing with 'fellow whose username I am too lazy to go back and grab, but who also knows cuckoo clocks', I'm just throwing my opinion out there based on two clocks out of thousands out there. I am not a sound expert.

The other interesting bit is cuckoo birds themselves - again, probably irrelevant but interesting: Some types of cuckoos are brood parasites, lending to the ideas of cuckoo children; the black sheep of the family or xenogenesis. The cuckoo will leave its eggs in another bird's nest for them to raise.

I personally think we are over analyzing the Cuckoo clock sound. Maybe they just pt it in to mess with us, seems like the kind of thing Abrams would do, no?

it was only a matter of time before someone found the sound. remember jj is smart with this viral campaignig but he wants to keep the movie as secret as possible so im sure he is throwing out many clues and leads but very few of them are actually real or will have a connection about the movie just to keep you hooked

I think we're looking too far into it as well.
For all we know, it could be the camera-holder's watch going off as an alarm. The camera would pick it up and it might even have precedence over the SoL head, seeing as how it would be closer to the microphone.

Why i know it's a clue:
J.JAbrams knew that we would be looking for clues in this trailer, both audio and visual. If he knew this, then he wouldn't put in any weird sounds to throw us off, that would just be cruel.

I think the clues would be a little bit more obvious than that. Such as 'AKM', the aforementioned Slusho! shirt and so on... not a sound which, until pointed out wasn't noticed, seemed out of place if it was deliberate and not an accidental product of other sounds mixing together and doesn't really seem to lead to all that conclusive a theory...

It's either out of it's context or it's not actually a clue. It's probably like a lot of the grafitti. It's being mistaken as a clue but in fact is unimportant to the plot.

Now, 401 Broadway is an office building, and is apprently an 'anomoly in TriBeCa', although according to the article it may no longer be an anomoly and be comverted to residential space.

After spending maybe an hour yesterday evening listening to the trailer and reading through the 'Cuckoo' Thread, my girlfriend got tired of thinking up explanations for the sound and turned on the TV while I read on.

After watching for about 2 minutes, a news show came on, and its standard opening sequence (random news-of-the-world-ish clips) for some reason ended with a cuckoo-clock doing its thing and sounding exactly like an office building getting hit by the head of the SOL. After that, the first report started - with a close up of the SOL!!! I kid you not!

We both were completely speechless (and maybe a bit pale, too). This ARG stuff really gets to you after a while... I don't know what the report was about since my freaked out girlfriend switched channels, but I doubt it was about mystery-trailer developments on the internet. Since it was German TV, it was propably OOG Wink

Just wanted to share a bizarre moment with you.

I know it starts to get to easy to see connections all over the place.
You should see me after I just watched a final destination movie -- I see weird ways I could die for days.

I find it a shame the movie isn't getting any much buzz in uk.
