Based on Kellie's conversations with John, I'm guessing the different squares shown represent the letters of the alphabet and the numbers 0 through 9. John said it was "just letters and numbers."

John said he wished they'd make a program to do the decryption for you, but instead employees are expected to decrypt by hand. If this is true, then I'd guess we're missing an encrypted document made up of tons of squares.

Header

Finally, it seems the header for the Nercomm site contains binary code. But it's hard to read and seems to fade out at the right edge, so I dunno.

Good catch! It is definitely binary but all I've been able to get from it is garbage. I've only done the first line though so I'll work on it a little longer. I've manipulated the image to make it a little easier to see.

I haven't been able to figure out any kind of pattern from all of the number combinations we've been given. R3C11-24 bothers me the most...we must be able to use it for something.

edit - I converted the encryption key to binary and it just produced garbage as well. If it's an overlay, I can't make it relate to a keyboard in anyway or Mantra's code.

If you're copy-pasting, make sure you aren't accidentally grabbing blank spaces as well.

I wonder what kind of code this is, it is found in Kellie's Trash folder and I believe it's from Van Mantra.

Looking at the email in her trash folder, it looks like she sent it -too- Van.

Could this be what she decoded using the visual key?

The conversation between Kellie and John about using her visual key occurred on 4/21. Kellie said she was trying to "decipher some specs."As far as I know, the visual cipher was never changed by Triton again.

The red number/letter code that Kellie left in her trash folder was put there on 6/27... more than two months later. The day before, she'd had a conversation with Van Mantra where he asked her to get the key to open the door to Divinus.

4/21 instant message

The way she cut the conversation with John short makes me wonder if she saw something in the cipher that scared her.

JW813414: what?
KG655321: i have to go
JW813414: whats wrong?

The difference in dates makes me wonder if the two puzzles really go together or not. Confused

Actually, I'd guess that's when Van Mantra busted in on her instant messenger channel. I'm still not sure what happened there. He started encrypting their conversation, and then... her chat feature was disabled? By who, Corporate Security?

Ok, I see what you're seeing.

It seems like Kellie and John must have been talking about a different key code on 4/21, or am I missing something there as well. Confused

Lurker Underground, I did that too but I can't see that it gives me anything. It certainly doesn't convert to text in a binary converter. Smile

edit - What I mean about the code is that the code that Kellie was working on when she was talking to John had a leading letter and is prior to her talking to Van. Unless she could just use the same key for everything. The leading letter was given to each employee separately and is probably different for each employee.

From what I see, it looks like Kellie disabled logging so that the chat wouldn't be recorded, in case corpsec decided to go crawling through her account to see what she'd been telling Van.

The Nercomm site was updated this morning with a press release stating that three Triton employees died in a car accident:
http://www.nercomm.net/PR_20070813.htm

This press release was not posted at the in-game Triton web site. So Houston, we have a problem. Laughing

That said, I'm going to continue with it because I'm curious. Smile

Spoiler:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If you highlight the bridge image with your mouse, you'll see an encoded message. It should be possible to decrypt this with Kellie's visual key.

That is a mighty big problem. Laughing

I still want to see what else we can find as well. I really think there might be more information if we could login to the other servers.

I wonder if the site belongs to a fan that is trying to get support for a campaign once the RPG starts. I'm unfamiliar with RPG's but it seems like the more people you could convince to be on your side the better (or maybe not).

Ooookay, that took some work. Cool First, let's start with the visual key. We know it's letters and numbers. John's "leading key" was g.

Then we have the mystery image to decrypt. (I find it's easier to see if you highlight the image with your mouse.)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The characters were too random to find the answer by hunting for common symbols/letters. So I took a leap of faith and assumed that it would make sense later. I had nothing else to go on, so I assumed that Kellie's starting letter on the visual key was g, just like John's was. At one character per square, that would mean the key translates to this:

GHIJKLMNO
PQRSTUVWX
YZ0123456
789ABCDEF

When I matched up the symbols and used the letters above, I got:

BX71RLD5
Z4QBHM8E
D0W6TO8I
5VE8PN3J

Aha! The first line is Kellie's password to get into her corporate email. Therefore the other lines are probably passwords for other people. Using my list of servers and employee numbers, I hunted and found matches.

Cleo Williams:
login: CW611723
password: D0W6TO8I
http://thetis.nercomm.net/

John Wainwright:
login: JW813414
password: Z4QBHM8E
http://thetis.nercomm.net/

I haven't found a match for the final password, "5VE8PN3J." The only other employee ID that I have is for Allen Feinman (AF913412). He's the coworker of Todd, that Nercomm network administrator whose email started this whole scavenger hunt. It looks like I'm either missing something or did something a bit wrong.

There isn't much new stuff to see. However, we're clearly a step closer.

Cleo Williams sent Archibald Graham a project report that involves whatever was going on with the D-ring platform. However, the file was encrypted. And the decryption tool provided by Nercomm seems to be broken. So we can't read the report or even retrieve it. Not even with that pretty red block of letters we got earlier. Razz

If you check back to Todd Nazer's account, you'll see Allen is telling him to fix that decryption tool pronto. So are we waiting for a fix? Or are we supposed to fix it somehow? Laughing
