From Giveen's Guide to Internet Trolls:

Quote:
– Classic Troll Tactic Number 5: When all else fails, claim to be
leaving forever. Trolls who claim they are leaving never do, of course;
you can bet that anyone who proclaims, "I'm never coming back here,"
will most certainly at least check back for responses, and probably
will not be able to resist posting again.

Funny but sad: This reminds me when i was a kid. There was a boy who would say "I'm taking my ball and I'm going home" because he got mad. He would always show back up to play the next day.

I know, do not feed the troll. But I sort of feel for the guy. A while back, I had a huge moment of doubt that this was where I wanted to be when the end came nigh. Poor Rose, got a rant and a half about the way everyone on the boards treated each other, and I walked away for a while. But I missed it, and some of the great insights and ideas. Think i'd rather see some of the ideas from you guys on the big screen than what may be in store for us.

Principle key to the universe: Everything has an equal, and opposite. For every poster here that takes this seriously, and to heart, there's someone who wants to goof and have some fun. Doesn't mean they don't care to see this through to the end. They may not have a lot to contribute analytically, but they provide some greeaat moments of levity.

Give the goofs some room, and a little positive reenforcement. If you don't want to read the humor tags, blow by them, mods will make sure the tags are appropriate. Just have some fun, and save some of the F-bombs and questionable name-calling for private messages. I personally hate to see people treat each other that way, especially when you have no idea who's at the other end of your verbal tirade. Too many people use the internet that way, with no fear of retribution because of their anonymity.

You guys are gonna be so surprised when you find out I'm Buddha reincarnate. Be cool. Lol

Honestly, I can empathize too. Though I have not received the fancy fish emoticon, I see people real quick to "trout" someone. I have read that the term "trout" is to be considered sort of a compliment, but telling people "Someone said that, here is a symbol of naivety" seems rude when it happens that often.

I know how to search the forums, and for that I avoid posting too many of my ideas. However, we all know that searching through thousands of posts is a pain in the ass. And sometimes the "trouting" seems to be due to the concept of:

"We already decided that this is unimportant..." or something to that effect.

People can seem overly excited to discount others sometimes. I suppose it is like that in every forum on the internet though.

I am a newbie here, and house rules existed before I came, so I accept them since I consider myself a guest of the mods/admins. I just wanted to express my empathy for the guy (no matter how melodramatic he/she was with the point).

I posted a similar image, and received a firm statement regarding offensive images of that nature from a mod.

Yeah there are few noob friendly forums on the internet. I know TresCom.Org is one, only because we set out to be a place people would want to come to (which has turned the forums into a competition to get names attached to things). Could be worse, I hear there are forums that if something was said before and you make a new post they threaten you with a ban but if you dig up the old post (even if it was years ago) they still threaten you with a ban.

I definatly agree with the balance of the universe thing. Tho it sounds cliche, what goes around definitely comes around. People that are inconsiderate of others and only about themselves, do get that in return and usually several fold. That gives me solace in life, those that cause me grief get that back and then some

You're missing the point. Don't take solace in the fact that bad things will happen to bad people. That serves no purpose at all. Everything has a place, and a purpose. And all things are needed, whether we want them or not. Learn to accept all things, and see them for what they are.

And yeah, I occasionally pause for the cause. Laughing

Lemme rephrase that, cause i see how it came out wrong. I dont take enjoyment in it. It just keeps me from wanting to do anything in return to them, cause i know the universe will take care of it
