So true. Also, an explanation of the edit is included along with the name.
Sometimes a witty, or meant to be witty, remark is thrown in. Smile

Is this type of thing par for the course for ARG's or does Cloverfield just attract hoaxers for some reason?

If it's normal I don't know how you regular players can stand having to sift through all the constant bulloney.

I would say, no, it isn't par for the course. The combination of the number of people searching for new information and the lack of official updates creates a condition where some people just take advantage of the situation to get web traffic, attention, or to be malicious. ARGs require players to sift data, so that might contribute to hoaxers thinking they can capitalize on a game.

That isn't to say it never happens, it does happen in big games.

Is there any chance of permabanning someone who deliberately posts fradulent material, and/or plays the way Origin has played here? I mean, this is just abuse of the forum for his personal enjoyment or for attention, and signing "Administrator" is an attempt to further mislead by claiming an acknowledgement of legitimacy on the part of unForum mods or admins.

Locking the post is one thing, but I think removing such a deliberate bad faith actor is called for in this case.

Just a thought. I'm just saying.

Bumping to repeat my edit to the initial post: No communications from Paramount Pictures or any associated party have been received to date by Unfiction. This post was removed by the author, not us. Adjust your trust detector dials accordingly.

Impersonating an admin should be grounds for permban. Or at LEAST locking/deleting this post.
