Moshi Monsters
What Mind Candy did next

Teaser site for Mind Candy's next (non-ARG project) in case anyone's intrigued. Meant for kids, although Michael Smith seemed keen to include the young of heart (and soft of head) as well.

Currently I'm reserving judgement but god I want to judge!

gee, i dunno... sounds a little too much like those WEBKINS everyone is always asking if we sell at the book store.... and webkins was always just a rip on NEOPETS and BEANIE BABIES...

Of course, with the "monster" label, if they were dark and spooky, the hot topic crowd would swarm on them.... too bad it is taylored for young kids.

And I thought I'd seen before... Firebox has been selling these for a while, obviously they sell quite well. Mopods are made by these guys (I actually have one of their hairy cards sat in my desk at work - for those occasions where you know you should have bought a card). Which solves one of the problems they had with Perplex City, that of making the product without experience of making a product.

I hope the interest is in the detail as from initial view the "highly innovative new virtual world and online game, where people adopt and care for their very own monster pet" isn't seeming that innovative. It's the puzzles and the nature of interactions between pet owners (and the pets?) on the site that will make or break this.

I full on agree.

on a total side note, WOW, odd... tonight, out with some friends, we got into a Doctor Who conversation, and someone mentioned tardis cell phone things. Went searching, and sure enough firebox.com has them - almost the same as these things {minus the interactive games?}
