Something new!

On SentryOutpost, someone new named "StuR" popped up and claimed that they were the other person being hosted on the same server as SO who had been experiencing the weirdness recently:

They were actually about to contact me and another poor soul that's hosting on the same server when I called them. They said they are looking into it and will call me with updates later. Apparently the other guy is not very pleased either.

Who's the other guy?

I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and say... me. Better be. It'd really suck if there were three people having problems.

So, Themagician - you're Bryce, right? Have you figured out what's shaking up your part of the box?

On his SO profile, it says:

So, he's from Provo. Think this is for him, then? http://bsuwiki.arghive.com/Craigslist_Postings/April_21#Provo

Ronomi.com is this guy's blog, and he's some kind of IT person. In the most recent post he mentions similar problems with his host also, and that he "dug around" on his own and discovered that SentryOutpost is having the same problems...

I'm positive it's nothing...but the pic of the boxing gloves is a dead ringer for the logo from my old gym...it's probably stock art...but you never know.

I'm sad I have nothing more to give...damn these long work hours!

Not seeing anything on the new page, offhand (save for a bad "targer(t)" reference for the secondlife link).

StuR seems to like titling his blog posts using references to popular media (mostly movies with a few others thrown in for good measure). These came from the IRC crew in #stfeline:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In reverse chrono-order from May 11, 2007 (from top to bottom in his blog):

Pulp Fiction
Fight Club
BSG (TV shows)
Invader Zim (animated TV show)
Casablanca
The Matrix
Alien
Shaun of the Dead
Red Meat (comic)
Pitch Black
Sluggy Freelance (comic)

Is this a puzzle/do these lead anywhere? Dunno ... maybe we need the names of the characters who spokes the lines? Or maybe StuR just has good taste Smile

I hope not, because I know for a fact that the character who says that line in fight club isn't given a name. Razz

So I'm finally done with finals and ready to get back into this.

The April 2nd entry seems interesting. It seems that he's in technical support, since he's checking out computers used by other people.

Any body have any idea what Ronomi means?

It could be an anagram for "I, Moron"

Or maybe I just need some sleep. I'll see where you guys are at in the morning.

Or it could be an anagram for the prophet Moroni (from the Book of Mormon), tying in with the Saints angle (Church of the Latter Day Saints, Saint Feline, who knows)

Looks like they're "opening" lines or firsts.
Tried versions of open, opener, open window, first line, front line, beginning, in the beginning....etc. Dunno I've never been good at guesswork though...

Yeah I thought the same thing, but I think maybe it's his first name and last initial. Stu Ronomi.

[phonetically when bunched together, sturonomi - ess-tur-onomy - kind of sounds like astronomy]

Or tying in with the angel Moroni. PBS just had a documentary on the Mormons a couple of weeks ago. I kept thinking about the angel Moroni on the LDS temple in Manhattan, but it's too high up to be the angel that BA writes of.

Interesting thought. I like it!

I feel like an idiot. I went to the sentry outpost board first and didn't see anything about this posted there. I had no idea what Biff was talking about in one of his posts.

Anyway.

Looking at the page source I didn't find anything too terribly interesting, just some RSS and Atom feeds that aren't actually linked anywhere on the page.

I thought this post was really interesting:

http://www.ronomi.com/2007/04/life_here_began_out_there.html

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but:

Quote:
So I dug a little deeper and he's right…someone is watching him. Pretty innocuous program actually, just keeping track of where he's going what he's browsing. But it made me think…who put it there? Who wants to know? Who is this guy that someone bothered to stick a watchdog on his laptop?

I wonder who this guy is? And if hes being tracked, I wonder if this is how BA found out about SO?
