1. R'lyeh, where dead Cthulhu lies dreaming, is in the Atlantic. Approximately where the Bloop was recorded.

(it's still not a Cthulhu movie, in all likelihood)

R'lyeh is not in the Atlantic, it's in the Pacific. Specifically, according to the Lovecraft story "The Call of Cthulhu," it's at:
S 47 9', W 126 43' 47". It's in the middle of nowhere in the South Pacific ocean.

The Bloop was around S 50, W 100, which is closer to South America. Still, it's not THAT far from the supposed location of R'lyeh.

FYI, I just finished writing an article on Cthulhu, and happened to have all my notes handy. That's the only reason I knew this stuff.

I double-checked, you're right, I sit corrected. I must be screwing up my memory with all the crap that DOES happen in Massachusetts.

Lovecraft was an American.

JJ = HP?

Reading the HP Lovecraft wiki pages there's definitely some similarities in style. Ideas and names are reused and referred to in different books; writes under different names or anonymously.

I think JJ is definitelty inspired by Lovecraft.

Doesn't mean the monster is Cthulu. Just interesting.

Ok, so once, way back in early July, i believed this may be a Lovecraft film; but since then, especially because of the post on AICN from Moriarty, I no longer believe that;

The VOLTRON project that Justin Marks is writing is still moving forward. They are not related. I'm not speculating, either. I'm telling you that's exactly how it is, and if you spend the next six months invested in this being VOLTRON and then complain because it's not, you'll have no one to blame but yourself. You're delusional. And there's no reason for it, since you'll get a VOLTRON movie... this just isn't it.

However, since that time I read "The Call of Cthulhu" by Lovecraft at the following site and now all I get is "Forbidden!"

Can anyone see if they can get into this page?

http://www.dagonbytes.com/thelibrary/lovecraft/thecallofcthulhu.htm

It has all his works, and I thought I'd be able to enjoy them all at my leisure one by one but, apparently, not any more! Evil or Very Mad
