Hard is... hard. I don't think I've had my ass kicked this frequently in a single player shooter in a long time. Big Daddies on Hard can and will 1-shot you.

If you happen to pick up one of the collector's edition, check out the special edition DVD that comes with it. Lots of comments on the thread about the audio design ... there's a section on the audio design in the special features. There's some interesting info in the interviews on their approach to the design... very little of the sound in the game is synthesized.

So who here isn't playing this game in surround sound? This is absolutely one of those games that makes your jaw slacken in 5.1 surround.

I found the final boss to be disappointingly easy when playing on medium difficulty. I didn't need to switch weapons even once, and didn't need to use any plasmids. I had to change ammo types in the chemical thrower just once, and reload a few times. That was all. It didn't even take multiple tries.

But I still love the game overall. As a storyteller, it is second to none.

The whole game was disappointingly easy, but it did allow me to finish the game in a couple days so I was free for Halo3. I wouldn't say that it plays with objectivfism so much as it meaninglessly name-checks it a lot. It's clever in the way a pun is, but it doesn't seem to have much of anything to say about the ideas. Well, unless Rand dealt with free will more than I think. I also had some trouble with character motivations.

Also it's doing the Illusion of Choice thing, but I've learned that's pretty much my own personal crusade and nobody else it bothered by it al all.

It IS interesting
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
to play a game where you are a sort of 2d tier character - important to the world, but not really the subject of the story.

I'm not saying it's bad, most of the above is true - the art direction and all of that, It's just not a GREAT game, or the GREATEST game.

Anyway, if you have not been watching Zero Punctuation, you really ought to be. You can start here because it does a good job of making the points I would make in a funnier way.

Really? I thought it was great! One of the best single player games I played in forever! I love the way the story is told, using the diaries so well, but also using the environment with more subtle things.

The bad part is that the game decreases in quality after the main plot event and the boss end was just terrible! Not because it was easy (it WAS easy), but because it just feels out of place!

But all in all, a great game, that does soooooo many things right!
