The FCC number has apparently been updated

this was found by Doug52392 over at abo and im just letting the peaple here know.

anyway yeah im from the UK so i cant call up to confirm it myself, but it seems like a new company has taken over the number.

yet it still seems halo related, and apparently theres federal laws governing if phone numbers used for advertisments etc can be sold on, so its pretty likely its still halo iris related.

the options the company gives you aswell are very wierd apparently.

this is the number out of interest - (888) 778-5672

ok, firstly, pressing 0 takes you to the menu, with the ability to list off the available extensions:
1 - "Extension 1" (no answer when I tried)
998 - "EXHALO" (the initial message played when first calling)
33 - "if a woman answers hang up" (no answer)
6454 - "messages from nikki" (no answer)
999 - "ring central voicemail" (didn't bother)
37 - "ring central VOIP" (didn't bother)
0 - "Thomas Marquez" (no answer)
88 - "test(?) fax" (didn't bother)
44 - "Thomas" (no answer)
2 - "(?) general voicemail" (didn't bother)

My guess is that those are the extensions in use with that 800 number, people who have 'licensed' the right to use it, and are oog.. could be wrong, but that's my guess - and EXHALO at the moment is the one we want.

Listening to the audio from that message, it sounds like there are a few recordings overlaying each other from the start. Just after the portion where the Ring Central promo lady says "essential communications tools in on place at a low price", it sounds like 2 of our FCC friends are quietly chatting in the background. I really want a recording of this to try to bring out what they're saying. All I can make out on the phone is guy 1 saying somthing up to "--ocket", and guy 2 says something; there may be more, but the promo overpowers it all.

For some reason my Skype won't let me connect to the # from my "calling area" (probably knows I'm in Canada by my IP), but my cell can connect just fine. So I'm stuck for recording. Anyone else want to give it a shot?

edit: it's Tom's VOIP account, not a reference to VOI

I'm still on the ropes on this one. It was brought up in CI that it could be a call center in the background. Which could be very true. I'm leaning towards OOG but not completly.

the background voices near the beginning do sound very much like the FCC guys. I hear no background sound other than those two at the beginning; the rest is all ringcentral promo (even the sound effects) right to the end.
It's hard for me to pass it off as entirely oog... it might be, but my decision rests on what we can pull from those background voices. Confused

37 - "ring central VOI (?)" (didn't bother)
0 - "Thomas Marquez" (no answer)

Voi is supposed to be a area in africa where a halo 3 level takes place, and thomas marquez isnt the person who wrote all those amazon comments is he?

Edit - oh no thats thomas santos but the other thomas mentioned could be

no that's Thomas Sanatos. Marquez is generally considered at this point out of game, as with all the extensions except the default (listed as 998-exhalo) - at least, IMO, its content is inconclusive at this point, so its validity is in limbo.
can no one get a freakin recording? Razz hehe

Very Happy This is interesting, strange and possibly related!

It just has a bunch of weird Sounds.

"...unlock it" says one of the possible FFC'ers.

Activate is an odd word with Ring Central. Activate the Ring?

"Communications" weird emphasis.

Plus all of the background tones are very creepy..

Although...http://www.ringcentral.com/

well, it's now unavailable entirely for me. Couldn't get it in skype, but could on my cell. Now my home line is reporting 'unavailable from my calling area', as well as my cell. If it's OOG, I think they're catching on and making sure the # is entirely deactivated.
