The anomalous world is in a perilous location beyond the line.
{//}The secrets it holds must be preserved.
{//}Plans within plans within plans.
The inhabitants; these unique denizens, must be researched.
They may hold answers to our own mysteries.
{//}What irony that we discovered this treasure, only at the end of things.
{//}But what fortune that we still had time to save them.
The thing we built on that world will vouchsafe their lives,
{//}But perhaps one day it will be used for its intended purpose.
If the plan succeeds, and they are saved, it will be a good world.
If the plan fails,
{//}And the adversary succeeds,
it will remain an enigma forever
{//}With no-one left to reclaim it.

 		I find this spine-tingling cool! The Forerunners thought something special in us and sought to preserve us. I wondered how the covenant races survived then? Unless they all originally come from more than 3 galactic radii out?

They may hold answers to our own mysteries= humans has similar/same genetic code to forrunners, and they want to know their own past.

This is sadly strait forward. Its intended purpose was to destroy all other live, and protect those living inside.

 		Dual purpose
Somehow, the text imply a dual purpose for the Ark (if that's the referenced "thing"). Because, the pronouns may not refer to the same thing at every mention.

"But perhaps one day it will be used for its intended purpose." = does not flow with the saving purpose they are talking about. This may iimply we're to be saved to reclaim the technology, but the denizens are the FCC studies on the ebola strain/alligator mitochondrion we're seeing and need to research.

So the "thing" referenced is actually a viral research facility (intended purpose), but is hardened to save "reclaimers" as well, who may be capable of continuing the research (implying the Ark purpose - not the main intent, but Ark also implies more than one type of life can be saved).

So we'll probably see Halo-type labs to study earth viruses, similar to Halos researching flood.

Basically, the first half of the text pertains to this virus, but the second half pertains to us. At least we're part of their plan, albeit not the main focus . . .

I think this goes back to the theory that the Ark is a portal to another dimension, like Onyx. It could be the "anomalous world beyond the line". Perhaps it is the human home world, where the Forerunner currently reside. Apparently, we are of some great importance, since the Forerunner had to save us and work us into their great plan.

A question, though: Is the speaker referring to the first activation of Halo as the plan, or what we deal with in 2553?

 		The transcript confirms that the Ark is on Earth, I don't know what other planet it would refer to and what other device.
