...evil thought but you'll find it amusing

okay, what if its mating season for these unusual beasts from the deep and seasonally they go ashore for their ritual. What if...this time they happen to come across New York? The Males gotta prove his strength so he chucks the SOLH or carries it a certain distance and then chucks it? Meanwhile the girl does some thrashing to get out all of her pent out rage or whatever she needs to do to get ready....

I'm not serious...but it made me giggle. I mean if I was in new york during that sort of thing, I believe that would be about 50times as scary as Gojira or anything else.

sounds pretty good. [I'm referring to the multiple head monster theory.]
But, wouldn't it take more money to create a creature like that?
Just curious.
I mean if they expect spectacular special effects with a creature like that wouldn't it take a larger budget?

I like this theory...I think it would be interesting.
However, I'm curious whether a creature like that would take more money to create. Does anyone have an idea if it would?

excuse me if my question sounds retarded.
I'm sleep deprived.

It might be some what more, but once you design a head or arm it's quite easy to duplicate it. The way the movie is made with use of fairly unknown actors and some handheld digital cameras alot of the 30 million dollar budget will be towards special effects and it's sure to look good what ever the monster is. I just hope we get to see alot of the monster like the great Korean monster movie "The Host".

Ok, I've seen people say this before and many dismiss it.... the monster has to be some kind of whale thing. At first sure, it sounds a little lame. . . Slusho.JP gives the most clues about it. First of all, all the whale from the depth of the ocean crap in the history. Then all the creepy ass whale happy talk (and please people, how can you really think the happy talk is actual people commenting on slusho, ITS NOT A REAL DRINK)... And then one of them talks about the thames river... the thames river incident was about a whale that came into that river on 1/19 ... day after 1/18.... It just seems now that they are pushing the whale because no one seems to take that theory seriously. Mark my words, its gonna be some kind of whale monster. Haha I don't care if it sounds corny, done right it will be scary.... and that's all I have to say about that.

It would be fun to see the whale thing form its flipper into a U-shape to pull off SOL head. The flipper with three claws, I should say.

http://www.damninteresting.com/?p=517[/url]

And it is not definatley three claw marks,

proof? Confused

I said it is not definatley I didn't say definatley not.... I'm just saying don't dismiss a theory on what animal it could be based on if that animal has claws in real life..... If something can resemble a real animal but also now be big enough to destroy a city, its possible it also now has claws... or that the three scrapes aren't claws, but teeth, or spikes on a tail....we don't know yet. remember its a giant monster movie.

Viva la whale!

fish to whale

To me all the references to growing from a tiny fish to a whale suggests mutation.

I like the theory very much, not sure if I like a multi headed creature though.

I posted in another thread about an idea I had on mythological hybrids. I came to this idea because of the "donkey" on the Slusho site. I thought it was a mule and then I remembered that a mule is a hybrid. I googled mule and found this quote from wikipedia; "The term "mule" (Latin mulus) was formerly applied to the offspring of any two creatures of different species - in modern usage, a "hybrid".

I thought this kinda matched up with the story on the Slusho site. I also thought that Noriko could be the mule thinking of the mitt? It leaves to never be seen again like she did in the story. I could get more into it but I am in a hurry.

I then googled Hybrids and found there were all kinds of Hybrids in Mythology. That made me remember the "Lost Experience" where JJ Abrams (or whoever) used greek mythology with "Persephone."

So I find your theory very plausible. Great job!

Hydra

Hydra is Greek for water
http://www.wordinfo.info/words/index/info/view_unit/1009/?letter=H&spage=5
hydro-, hydra-, hydr-, hyd- *
(Greek: water)

So this is kinda interesting, so if Ganu is earth and sky............

Gaia(Earth) and Uranus(Sky). take Ga from Gaia and nu from Uranus(insert joke here) you get.. Ganu. (He is very big).

Gaia or Gaea, known as Earth or Mother Earth (the Greek common noun for "land" is ge or ga).
http://www.pantheon.org/articles/g/gaia.html
and.....
Anu/Sky/God
ANU/the/Heavenly/One
Anu/Uranus
http://doormann.tripod.com/engsum.htm
Ga and Anu - earth and sky - Gaia and Uranus -

.............then where is water--HYDRA.

The Slusho site seems to emphasize earth(Main page), Water(history page) and sky(downloads page). The Hydra was the offspring of Typhon and Echidna (Theogony, 313), noisome offspring of the earth goddess, Gaia.

Also... both Noriko Yoshida and Ryouta Yoshida have the word HYDRA within them. In fact Ryouta Yoshida has the anagram "To you is a Hydra" or "Is a Hydra to you".

Is a Hydra-like creature or even the Hydra itself the monster?

I think Abrams would have alot of leeway as to it's looks.

This theory always made sense to me. In literature, and subsequently theatre then film, names mean A LOT. I have a hunch there's gonna be some "green" sub-commentary in this film (no, it's not normal to be 63 degrees in NY in Jan), and this is one of the best ways to go about it.

I'm not saying "It's gonna be a Hydra". I personally don't think it'll be dragon like. However, the multiple voices I think are in the roar that's discussed in the site shutdown/update thread and the name Ganu are coincidences are too apparent to ignore.

So instead of it being a 4 legged hydra it may walk on two legs and have arms and claws type of thing?

I dunno if im okay with the hydra thing, i'd accept it if its true but I still prefer to believe that there's more than one monster.

Sad

That is a great theory but from looking @ the Slusho history page and the Happy Talk I think it can do with a whale? I dunno what you do you think?
