Shut Up...he says it.
Are you guys kidding?? I hope so....

OK....there has to be something going on here, it has to be one of several possibilities:

1. There is a team of people working to confuse and get readers of posts second guessing themselves.
2. There is some inside joke among a few members of this forum, and they are rolling on the floor.
3. The Abrams team IS watching and on occasion tries to throw us off by having people disagree.
4. There are a few members who scan the posts and deliberately disagree with EVERY comment or observation made by other members, without any useful contributions whatsoever.
or
5. UnFiction membership has a very high rate of:
a. Hearing loss.
b. Illiteracy
c. Stupidity

I have been reading this forum since the beginning. I do not participate in other ARG's (I have learned my lesson with this one!)
Do those of you who CANNOT wait for someone to post something, only so you can SCREAM in disagreement, ever get tired or embarrassed at how often you are proven wrong in the long run???
I just scanned back over some of the main discussions of this forum, and it is hilarious how many of you basically swear on your life and ridicule others making observations that you say are 100% wrong, ONLY to be proven correct as time goes by.
Stop acting like you KNOW anything....you KNOW nothing. None of us KNOW anything at this point. You monster/Cthulu/Godzilla/Voltron people are gonna be so very disappointed at this film. You ain't gonna see a huge CGI creature tearing heads off statues and people in NYC, (my God...I pray not after all this....surely the Abrams team has more intelligence than that.....). You won't see it...on this I am almost sure. (If you insist that you will, please send me a photo of the creature from LOST at your convenience...)

He says "Shut Up" or two words that sound exactly like "Shut Up".
You don't have to strain to hear it, or even turn the volume up very loud. Does it mean anything? I doubt it very much...I can't imagine how that is the key to solving the mystery of this movie. Unless he says "OK, I have to confess...I knew this was gonna happen, and here's how:.............." I don't believe we need to spend another second on this topic. he says"Shut Up".
Now on to the important discussions....

Interesting characterization, considering...

Solid assertion, countering what many believe...

Regardless whether Rob says "Shut up" or "Should've", it still seems odd when you also remember the look on his face in the apartment. The "Oh sh.. , I knew this was gonna happen" look. Together, they look a bit incriminating.

BoardRider53 is right. Download the center audio from cloverfieldclues.com (the link that was given). It is clear in that he says "Shut it off". Out of 'Shut up", "Should've" and "Shut it off", this makes the most sense in any case.

Thanks for the audio segments Cloverfieldclues.com Very Happy

Also, it does sound like someone is saying "listen to it". Which is weird. Problem is, however, its said quickly, so it may not be a voice at least.

I should also point out in the right audio, at around 1:24, someone says

I spoiler ed this, so that if someone wants to listen to it, without the power of suggestion, they can.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

"...in the subway"

I listened to those tracks, and what I hear is Rob saying "shut up". I don't think it matters much to the plot of things in any case.

What I did find more interesting is that if you listen to the left (front) and right (front) channels you get the dialog spoken by the cameraman, established as Hud. This includes "What was that noise?", so there's a mystery solved there.

Another interesting thing I always found odd in the trailer is that as they are going down the stairs at one point you hear drums. I thought about this, but until I heard the tracks cleanly separated I didn't feel the conclusion was that strong. Now that I have, I'd say that the drums are music playing in an apartment (studio apartments it would seem based on Rob's) as they are descending the stairs. Sounds like someone bailed out of their place and left the music playing. This shouldn't be the party though, as they turned off their music and listened to the news report. In any case, you don't hear them as they are at any of the other points on the stairs, so they travel several floors down in the process.

But Mr Tippet will give us a peek.

Listening to just the audio, I agree that it's "shut it off."

Having said that, even "shut up" wouldn't be incriminating, to me at least. I don't think the cameraman is actually going 'Hey, look, that bad thing is happening, you waited too long!' but making an attempt at gallows humor. Wow, just think, if you left town early, you could have missed this! And the "shut up" or "shut it off" then is Rob going "this isn't funny, stop it."

You mean Phil Tippet, of Tippet Studio? AICN had a story about him possibly doing the monster F/X, but there is still no mention of it on his website, or in IMDB.

The reason discussion here is tagged [SPEC] (for speculation) is because it is simply people's opinions of what may or may not happen, has been said, etc. People disagree about the tiniest things, often in a way I find surprisingly vehement, without much evidence to support their opinion. This is perfectly valid discussion as long as people are playing nice and not making personal attacks.

Example: a person claiming that we will (or we won't) see the monster in the film is simple speculation right now. No reason to get personal about the view anyone holds, or comment on the other people on this forum, whether they agree with you or not.

And, again, just to be clear, people involved behind the scenes in a game aren't allowed to post here. Doing so violates the TOS.

And, I've gotten pulled entirely off topic. Sorry.

I love these discussions about the various trailers.

I notice you didnt add

6. I might be wrong

Didnt you just accuse Unfiction members as acting as if they know everything? Look its ok if you have a theory. Even if it is blatantly obvious to you. Some people though wont see it your way. Get over it. I personally dont hear "Shut Up" But I dont know what he is saying, so it could be "Shut up" But dont lose your mind because people dont agree with you. It kinda kills your creditbility on Unfiction when you go postal on everyone. The people will flame your theory just out of principle. (people dont like being yelled at) So dont take it so personally. People wont always agree with you.
