[PRESS] 1-18-08 feature on Five News tomorrow (UK)
Section to be aired at 11:30AM, Wednesday 22nd

Firstly before I begin, I apologise to the moderators if this carries the wrong tag... I checked the list and there didn't appear to be a definite tag for a news appearance or mass media appearance of an ARG, so in the absence of one that was accurate, I created the tentative 'MMR' or 'MASS MEDIA REFERENCE' tag...

Please feel free to change it if required.

As for the subject, I live in the UK and I had Channel Five News on at around ten minutes to 11 in the evening and during the news summary they suddenly played a section of the 1-18-08 trailer, specifically the bit after "Guess you should've left a little bit earlier" and ending before the camera pans and closes in on the flaming fireballs burning in the sky.

The commentator dialogue was effectively the same as the original On The Money article, about the film not having a title or known plot, but that they'd be looking at it in more detail tomorrow morning at 11:30AM (BST).

Figured I'd drop this line so all us homebound Anglophiles can tune in. I'll try record it with my DVD recorder... but I can't make any promises.

I think we generally use [PRESS] for media and publicity. But you're correct that it is missing from this forum's guidelines sticky.

Indeed. If the recording's successful, I'll try turn it into a .AVI using a desktop recorder... from there I'll try load a temporary file to YouTube whilst also uploading a more permanent, unshrunken version to MegaUpload.

I'd think YouTube would remove it for Copyright infringement, remember when EHWR just started and they removed the videos because they had "Cloverfield"/"Slusho" in their descriptions/titles?

(And yes, this is the Guest TheBeginningIsTheEnd. I finally registered an account)

Truth be told, it'll probably only be a five/seven minute segment discussing the phenominum... but it's nice that it's finally trying to break into the UK market.

EDIT: The Five News site now mentions Cloverfield in their features section for today:

Five News features story

As Kingpin thought, it was a bit from the trailer and a short discussion with a film critic and a viral marketting expert.
Sadly, no new info. Excellent bit of UK hype for JJ though.

"JJ Abrams, a man who made his career by keeping things secret."
Laughing

Oh, some guy said something along the lines of, its buzz is gained by nothing being revealed about it.

Well its finally good its getting some coverage here.

I just watched this on YouTube. They shot the news story in the style of the trailer. Very clever.

I have posted the video up on CloverfieldClues.com: http://cloverfieldclues.com/2007/08/cloverfield-on-five-news.html

Wait... when did that air?

It's certainly not what FTTM and I watched at 11:30 yesterday. Neutral

Top props for the 'in the style of the trailer' reporting though. Smile

It's also funny that Nostalgia Critic got some free advertising out of it. Razz

I'm not sure if this video did air ... I'm not in the UK.

I was hoping someone had recorded the original broadcast, and I found this on YouTube. It's in the Five News YouTube channel.
