Hi --
I'm relatively new to this, but this seems like a interesting puzzle.
After reading through the posts here, I noticed that several posts were made on the somerstradingcards group page on Sunday. Links to three profiles of the Somers family, a husband and wife Roderigo and Yvonne, and a Steven, whom I'm guessing in their son.

Roderigo's and Yvonne's profiles both mention some sort of New Year's eve incident. Probably involving a ship as Yvonne says she "Was also involved in the New Years Incident, but unlike Roderigo, I was never taken aboard the Carcharias". Caracharias is the species name of the Great White shark, and from the context sounds like a ship name.

schroetter58 also has a post with some encrypted text.

The town is Bgruw Eifagaof

And the nearest hotel is the Uwxloep 25 Yilkchfg Rvpmdv

And they don't take any reservations, they're only a 1st come first serve. "

 		yes. What I did was turn the picture upside down using Windows Paint. That seemed to make sense but the translation doesn't.

 		There are two types of cyphering going on on this one.

The first one is the first line which uses varoius letter shifts to hide the message. Use the tool at http://www.unfiction.com/resource/rot-it/
A ROTation of 25 gives:
