[SPEC] Idea on how 'Satoshi' name was conceived
Also includes another SIX link.

Hey here's an idea, nothing important. But Satoshi is the name of the guy we e-mail customer feedback to at the Slusho Website. Look at the latest article on ARGN.com it is about some new ARG coming out. Inside the Article theres a link to an old Perplex City thing about a Japanese guy called Satoshi. At the bottom of the page there is a link to findsatoshi.com And is all about finding the guy called Satoshi.

I KNOW it is unrelated but maybe its the way that they chose the guys name for the e-mail - taking the arguably the biggest ever ARG's character name (Mark Sloan on Greys Anatomy is a name steal as a link to Dick Van Dykes Character Mark Sloan on Diagnosis Murder - best one i could think of) - so perhaps this Satoshi guy in Slusho! is missing or something. I dunno just randomly found it and thought i would post it.

However the satoshi website (for PXC) talks about SIX Degrees of Separation

Which basically means. If you are one step away from every single person you know. Then you are two steps away from every person that they know. So you are only 6 steps away from everybody in the world. Its kind of confusing and i dont think i explained it very well.

At the bottom of the wikipedia article there is also this
"The television program Lost also explores the idea of six degrees of separation, as almost all the characters have randomly met each other before the crash or someone the other characters know. On the Season 2 Bonus Material DVD, there is a special feature called "The Lost Connections". It has an intro that mentions Karinthy Frigyes and explains the theory, showing photographs of random people and proposing that "you or someone you know" probably knows them. The actual feature is an animated interface of video clips of character connections, the frames of the videos connected by multi-colored wires. "

Interestingly, JJ produced (is producing?) a show called Six Degrees ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0801427/ ) about the "interconnectedness" of a group of people in New York.

Oh yeaah, i saw in the wiki article about that show - didnt mention JJ though. He obviously likes it using it in LOST and basing a show on it. Maybe it plays a part in Cloverfield too

Satoshi is a fairly common name in Japan. In fact it is the 76th most common name for men and women (PDF).

BTW, Noriko is 97th on the list, and Ryouta and Ganu are not in the top 100.

For comparison, my name - Dennis - was the 317th most popular name in the US in 2005

lol Mine is always in the top 15 (since I've been alive, at least).

Most people are so unoriginal when naming kids.

I think it was picked because J.J. or someone liked it, maybe not for some specific reason. I could be wrong though.

Another six. Is that why you bumped this.
I shall explainthe 6 degrees in one sentence for any real simpletons.
Due to connections, through 6 steps your connected to everyone in the world.

Thats the theory anyway.
Basically means that You know your mates, who know their mates, who know their mates, who know their mates, who know even more mates who know Tom from myspace.

Thus connecting them to the rest of the world.

And yeah another six, and i think the theory will probably be implemented into the film (LOST and JJ's Six Degrees both do)
