 		I had read about the "Yale College" thing when Yale was first brought up, but it didnt click in my head that that may have been important till yesterday when Tom mentioned the missing historical detail. Thats when I posted about Yale College... its funny that when I posted it, Das posted it like 5 minutes later.. great minds think alike! anyways, I do believe this was my first solve in THP.. but I couldnt take full credit.. Nicole was the one who discovered that that specific picture was the picture with the hidden file so partial credit goes to her as well..

has anyone had any luck with this new code? its a tough one, or so it seems.. itll prolly become obvious once Tom points us in the right direction..im waiting for a reply from now.. ill keep u guys updated..

BTW - Thanks for Lorax, Deadfish, could I ask where you found it? there didnt happen to be any other poems by Dr. Seuss on that site, were there?

you would think finding his poems online would be easy, but most of what Im coming up with are biographies of "Theodor Seuss Geisel, Springfield MA.."

So far Tom has only been referring to one poem by Dr. Seuss. The "Oh! The Places You'll Go!" poem is posted below, just for reference:

I bolded all the words that began and ended with the same letter, and there was only one instance where it was followed by a three letter word (which i italicized) but thats where that similarity ended, because the next word in the code is 4 letters, and the instance above is not. The words in this poem that were bolded were:

High, Gang, and Tact.

in an earlier post, I had said that the word "that" was in there, but on second glance i realized it is not.

to sum this all up in one word?

Frustrating.

A FIND? - ok I found a poem by Dr. Seuss called "Fox in Socks" and it has some lines that almost match the pattern of letters in the code exactly.. not to mention the point of interest, involves a girl named "Sue"..im going to post the whole poem just for kicks, but I will bold the part of interest:

damn.. i was so close.. i just realized the third word socks has 5 letters, not 4 as the code does.. im going to keep this poem posted in hopes that someone may find something I had missed...

where is that reply from Tom when you need it?


EDIT: Looking over all of these poems, suddenly I realized the similiarities between them and THP... not huge ones, just names really... like in "Green Eggs and Ham" it is said by a person named "Sam" (Sam-I-Am)... and the poem I just posted "Fox in Socks" had a girl named "Sue" in it.. now all we need is a few people named Michael, Eric and Mary and the relationship will be complete Wink

 		Smooth, I don't think the code has to be exactly like the code, as in the first word doesn't have to be 4 letters starting and ending in the first same letter. The "named by professor at" code was "tnb radop e roes fymas" and the securekit.com code was "mder ucit set kooc."

I think "The Lorax" is a good lead. I'm going to try if I can pry a little more info as to which Seuss work he is referring to.

oh i know, trust me ive been pickin at this from all angles... anagram, cryptogram AND vigenere.. when i was talkin about the first and last letters bein the same, i was workin it from a cryptogram angle.. right now im back to vigenere.. ive been inputting every line of "Oh the places youll go" seperately as the key... honestly ive only come up with one line that came up with any kind of word that made sense...

with the key: "Any direction you choose"

it came up as: nqkk zbk camp age ngm


Ive read the whole Lorax poem and couldnt find any relation...of course I may have missed something... but for some reason, the title of the hidden file is bothering me.. why "Plants and Grass" specifically? I tried using "Flora" as a vigenere key, and that didnt work.. which made me think that plants and grass are both GREEN.. as in "Green Eggs and Ham", which as I said before, contains a character named "Sam"..

EDIT: I tried ROTing the code and interestingly enough:

the number 5 ROT came up as: sins mxt jyzi sjx mny

could just be a coincidence, but the number "5" was referred to in the hint..

OHYA: I forgot to add that if it were an anagram, the words "Dot Net" are there..

Just by looking at the code I'm fairly sure its an anagram. He said it has 5 words, but that doesnt mean each word is the same number of letters that he has used to jumble it up, so dont let that confuse you. Sorry, Scott already said that. Very Happy

yeah, i was just saying that it needed to be, if it were a cryptogram..

as for an anagram, some key words in there are:

dot net
sue
hide/hidden

but seeing as though he said it was a "prime verse from my favorite author" it probably wouldnt contain the words above.. i just wish he would throw out the next hint.. still no response from him since yesterday..

so far the clues we have for this new code are:

file title: plants and grass
5 words (prime number)
a "prime" verse from his favorite author: Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel)

what are the chances of this being a vigenere? ive already been blasting away at passwords..

im gonna take another look at all the anagram possibilities.. this would be alot easier if we could find a site that had all or at least alot of Dr. Seuss' poems, word for word..

 		Usually if it is regular rot or vigenere you will see a lot of uncommon characters like x z y v w. After doing a lot of these, when I look at that it just has the look of an anagram to me.

I have a bunch of Seuss books from when I was younger so I'll take a look and see if anything sticks out.

ok so obviously one of the words is:
SHINE

that leaves these letters, leftover:

so out of those leftover letters, 4 more words have to be created.

as for the "plants and grass" lol i didnt even catch that... we were looking inside a stegasaurus and we found plants and grass... go figure

We were probably looking at the exact same time as I too just tried those exact sites Razz

Could "Cat in the Hat" or "The sun did not shine" be used to desteg that other picture. The one with her hand under ground. The line makes sense with the picture. I am putting a spoiler on this because it's the same post as the answer and the edit includes the answer. Not sure if it is necessary or not. I've never figured out a clue before.


EDIT 3: Well I downloaded jphide but can't get it to work. I can't even get the stegosaurus to desteg. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if it's just wonky.

 		Well, it's not going to desteg the hand picture. It might have something to do with death because if "the sun did not shine" on "plants and grass," they would be dead. The clue came from the picture titled "Dead," so I don't know if this is supposed to loop back to the same picture or lead us somewhere else.
