Why? It worked with Blair Witch.

Given it's IMDb, I wouldn't trust that post even if it actually came from someone who was involved because the forum users make stuff up and claim it's legitimate all the time there.

You sure we are talking about the same blair witch movie? I remember horrid reviews on it. When we seen it I remember half yes HALF the theater walking out mid movie. Thanks god I hope this movie is not done in all handhelds.

I remember half hearing a news report that said people were throwing up and walking out of the theater so I wrongly thought -- Wow this must be a real gory and upsetting horror movie -- but the news was really talking about the handheld cameras making people sick.

Originally the entire film was all destruction from beginning to end, J.J wanted all action, all the time. It was, like I said, your basic Monster movie, no real plot, as long as people die and te monster destroys a lot of stuff... But after the buzz over the trailer, the producers felt that there needed to be more to the story than just things blowing up... so the rewrites began..

I don't necessarily(cant spell that word) agree with that specific post; mainly because it wouldnt make sense to film part of a trailer for the only purpose as to have a random trailer. It would be much more cost effective to use existing film, IMO. Also, there's been too many "insiders" posting to various high profile high population sites, so it makes me rather skeptical about the validity of the information. Besides, there's already a movie coming out about all action all the time. It's called Shoot 'Em Up. I dont think I've seen a successful monster movie about only action. There's got to be *some* plot hooks in there that make you want to keep watching. Besides, if JJ only wanted action and that was it, why would he set up the Rob character going to Japan and all his friends talking about how they will miss him. That's just my opinion Very Happy

Exactly, I didn't buy this guy's explanation that they didn't have a name to begin with either... I can believe they might change a name during production, but not actually start making a film without a title. I also think he's overblowing Abram's real role in 1/18/08... a lot of people seem to forget he's just the Producer. Plus, that whole "the original title was 'MONSTROUS', but they covered themselves by making it a description' explanation is real hokey. Sure, they'd play it off as a description rather than a title...

I've seen Blair Witch so yeah, whilst I didn't see what was so scary I remember reading that people were scared. Thing is though this movie has a bit more budget then Blair Witch had.

I agree...I think this is a symptom of the ultra-secret movie production...the "deep throat" type of inside reporting...

I don't really care, I just want to see the freakin' movie. I'm willing to bet that most people will agree with me on this...

I like it! True or not, I like it! I agree with IronJ146, I think this brings all the craziness back down to a more reasonable account of things that may happen in this film. If it is not true, then who cares? It's an logical view that no one person has made where they have taken ideas and theories put them together and made something worth reading. I think it would be an awesome film if this were to be the actual movie. If his post turns out to be true, there are still a lot of things we do not know (and will not until the film is released) that we can all speculate about.

I am so tired of all the "know it all" people blasting anyone with an decent idea or theory. So many people on here (as well as other forums, blogs, etc.) are so narrow minded and think they are so much smarter than everyone else and that only their theories are correct. They will be the same people that will take credit for everything others have said once the movie is released. It's kinda happening already.......names are withheld but you know who you are. Sure there are some BS ideas out there, but lets stop destroying everyone else for at least attempting to come up with something intelligent.

I applaud you Sir, Bravo, someone give this man a cookie! Very Happy

i agree. I'm tired. all i want now is a picture and a title and a hint of storyline. Thats all. For transformers i could care less about the story, all i cared about in the years leading up to the movie was seeing a picture of Optimus Prime... thats all that mattered to me period!

yeah, but everyone thought ethan hass was right- and look how that turned out. I think this guy's half on, half off. My guess is that he caught wind of a couple of spoilers and then made assumptions on others in order to beef up his post.

And come on- any little dribble regarding plot speculation is SOMETHING... better than a 5 second sound byte...

Absolutely, positively true.

Anyone who's been reading these boards for the last two weeks, never mind
the last two months, can come up with this "scenario."

BS it is.

I don't think anyone in here is claiming to be a "know it all," we're simply stating that not one piece of information that he posted is even relatively new, besides this infection portion (which is, not coincidentally, the worst part of the storyline that he proposed). We're just simply calling BS on something that is clearly just that....why call something it's not?

Exactly... it's not a case of egos exercising what they think they know but simply dismissing something that claims to be an insider when there's nothing really to proove it. It's not even claimed as a theory, it's something trying to be passed off as fact.

I mean, my secret insider friend says the monster is zombie Jesus, so that has to be it. Razz Wink

And why does he get a cookie? I want a cookie!

I somewhat agree with you both to a point. It may be BS but it is the best BS I have seen so far. I was just trying to stand up for the poor guy. I like how he put together some of the speculation that is out there and made something I would actually enjoy watching. He tied a lot of things together that were both logical and well, stupid if I may be so blunt. It was a great idea! It may not be his ideas or theories however he put them together very well. I have not seen anyone else piece it together as nice as he did if he in fact did so.
My problem is with those who love to give their opinions/theories as the only great ones. They then shoot down anyone else who is intelligent enough come up with what they have not. They make claims like "we already knew" and "it's nothing new." I do not see any of their posts putting it together like he did.
This may not be and ARG but if it is then we all need to brainstorm and work together (unless its Goatse, haha, so sick).

Agreed, J.J. needs to put something of importance out there already, people are going to start getting fed up with knowing nothing about this movie, its just going to end up alienating some of the fan base that he's already created, but then again, I want to see it no matter what it is at this point really

Fair enough. I mean, the OP on this board and on the IMDB forum did both apologize if this has been posted and did pass this off as possible speculation. I just say that it is a half-assed collaboration of what is already known. Than again, what is "known" is very very small...i am quite certain that when the movie comes out, we are going to be surprised by the plot, not relieved that we guessed the correct outcome of it.
I also didn't like that he said that JJ/paramount/bad robot were surprised at the cult phenomenon that arose out of it. I mean, look at lost and TLE...it gained cult status VERY quickly. What would make them think that jj doing a very mysterious movie would be any different? Ah well, we got months until this thing came out, speculation is good and diverts us from doing the dirty work of going through gamejacks and filtering through obviously false stories.
