[INTERACTION] Brother Theophilus

Since the original thread for this is getting rather large and confusing with the mixture of characters, I thought it would be a good idea to separate the characters out. I have a feeling each character thread will get pretty big.

I do not trust Father Beck nor his followers. At present I believe he is an unwitting pawn in a game of greed and power. Maybe he is more active than that. Thinking this I sent off a message to Brother Theo to get his thoughts:
Quote:
To Theophilus: My Brother

I am compelled to ask what your thought's are on Father Beck and this Guardian Prophet. Have you known the Father for any length of time? Were you aware of the writings pertaining to the arrival of a historic prophet?

I have information suggesting that Father Beck is not exactly what he seems, I am waiting on more evidence before I confront him on the issue. As for the prophet, I wouldn't trust him as far as I can throw him.

Stay Safe

James

His reply was precicely what I wanted to hear.
Quote:
Theophilus says: I do not know your beliefs Brother James - but if you truly are my brother then you already know that it was prophesied MANY centuries ago that "in the end days there would be wars and rumors of wars", and "the false prophets would be among us". Guardian and the other false religions of the HFU blasphemy are merely a cover for something that goes much deeper. If you can determine what - then you will succeed where we have failed. The end is a simple mathematical certainty, and nothing can be changed, for "what has happened will happen" and vice versa. A changing scripture is no scripture at all. We await your evidence. Tread carefully, and know that these messages are not safe from prying eyes.

Time to dig up some dirt.

Got this from Theo in response to a question about Mr. Wright's death.

Quote:
That memory is as clear as yesterday.

I suppose this was inevitable but I must ask: For whom do you speak notgordian? Are you on a quest of personal enlightenment - or personal investment? Credits are of no use to us and the database and its lies are an open book for us to read.

You see, I've learned after many decades of hiding that a secret unkept is no secret. Senator Wright still blames Brother Theo of the Sodality for his father's death. I assure you this is a gross untruth, for why would he have wished harm upon the one who risked everything for him?

I sent him assurances that I am not doing this for credits and that I am on his side. I was quite verbose in those assurances, actually.

Double posted because I believe Theo's response was important.

Quote:
The answers you seek will be revealed when you discover all three names of our organization. Sometimes it is not the destination but the journey that is important, a lesson we learned from Alexis Wright Senior three decades ago. It is now up to you... BROTHER notgordian.

So the Underground and the Brotherhood are two names...time to find out the third.

Weee you're a brother!

I'm wondering if the Skivers are the third name, or just something the corporate people call them.

Theo seems to be starting to trust people as Brothers, rather than just agents. Without saying too much, he's asked me to contact Foo aswell, about the Father Beck issue.

For context: Since I have to play double agent for one side or the other, at least for the time being, I let him know I might have to give Foo our comms.

Theophilus wrote:
Very well BROTHER Lex. Tell him everything he needs to know. We will watch the pipeline carefully and react accordingly. Once Beck is an enemy of the state his followers will see him for what he is. We will use the corp's paranoia against themselves. Well done.

May as well make a new post for this one...

I got this from him today. He seems to be talking about Phil:
Theophilus wrote:
Indeed. You remind me of a golden man I once knew.
Last time I saw him he gave me something of great value.
Of course he could say the same of me I suppose.

I sent him this in reply:
Quote:
Out of curiosity, where would your golden friend be now? The last we in 2007 heard from him, he was fleeing from danger. I am a friend of his, too, and I'm worried about him.

- Lex

I want to see if this links to either the slewth thing or this new "judge" thing.

Delete-repost yay!

I've been given a trail to go on, I think...
Theophilus wrote:
The time has come for you to know the answers. But I can not tell you - for if I do it will not teach you what you need to know. There is a man who has the first clue to the information you need. It is written in the folio:

The man of Gold is proud and vain
His greed shines with no apology
His gluttony and lust are unslaked
The bastard prince of Deus returns in time

What I can gather is:
a) Man of Gold is probably Phil.
b) 5 of the 7 deadly sins are mentioned, the missing two being sloth and wrath.

just had another thought... bastard prince. Could that be ADPrince?
Would the golden man change his name and become a security officer. I doubt it, but the thought occured and I decided to throw it out there.

Hm, if we count vanity as envy (don't know why I thought vanity was a deadly sin) then the sins are prevented in reverse order to how they normally are. Wikipedia linkage. So if the missing two are important, they're in order wrath then sloth, not the other way around as you'd think.

EDIT: I've contacted Phil the only sure way I know how, a message through YouTube. I gave him my email (which he should already know) and my AIM. I'll see if I get any response.

well we have 7 deadly sins, if were linking it in with the judge theory then it could be referring to God as the judge......wild stab in the dark. All these new things popping up all do seem to be in the same vein: find someone! He'll lead you to the next part.

My best guess would be its an incredibly important character who plays a pivotal role in the city coming to fruition, therefore each character and faction want to get to him first so they can control the character.

If you check the slewth post we have some weird shizzle goign down about how to find this man, if indeed it is the same person, which seems increasingly likely to me.

Posting for 2 reasons: new comms, and to bump this thread which complements the Brackin one, with regards to the Phil-hunt.

I seem to have lost access to the Brotherhood, I assume that it's not locked behind the Wall puzzle, which I can't get to since I'm yellow karma. I asked Theo about this, and he replied:
Theophilus wrote:
The brotherhood has gone into hiding.
But it is possible to find us again.

(this backs up my theory that the entire location is gone behind the wall).

I also asked him for information on Phil, saying I had thought about asking Foo for information. His reply:
Theophilus wrote:
In regards to your manhunt.
Do what you feel is right.

In other words, "I ain't telling you anything Razz" hehe

Uh, I can access the Brotherhood just fine; I have solved the wall, so that's probably what's hiding it from you.

I decided to ask Theo about the Holy Faith Church. Sorry if someone else already did it.

Here's my pm:
Quote:
To: Theophilus: Dear Brother,

I have had no further communications with you. Is all well? I am filled with questions concerning this Holy Faith United Church. What is it exactly? Is our Brotherhood affiliated with it?

I continue to await further instruction from you.

In Brotherhood,
WolfHawk

His response:
Quote:
Theophilus says: The bastard faith is not of the brotherhood, nor are we of them. It is the true "opiate of the masses". Intolerant tolerance of all things.

1 Cor. 10:23

And the bible verse he references:
Quote:
1 Corinthians 10:23 (King James Version)
23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

(and in english)

1 Corinthians 10:23 (New International Version) The Believer's Freedom
23"Everything is permissible"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"—but not everything is constructive.

Not really any new information. He seems to have been laying pretty low lately. I wanted to make sure he was still with us.
