Bob says (10:07 PM):
Ah deathbringer.
Angelus Ex Mortis says (10:07 PM):
The gates of life and death are ever in balance.
Nikki says (10:07 PM):
<reminicent>
Bob says (10:07 PM):
I must relay something important to you.
An error on my part.
Angelus Ex Mortis says (10:07 PM):
Do tell.
Bob says (10:08 PM):
I have been a bit disheveled in my search tonight that I got confused.
Your hint "auz", you should not look to the left, but to your right.
Nikki says (10:08 PM):
hmmm
Nikki says (10:09 PM):
is there a word we are missing
Bob says (10:09 PM):
Nothing is missing but an answer as a whole.
Nikki says (10:09 PM):
a whole
Bob says (10:10 PM):
Referring to the only thing missing is the answer.
Nikki says (10:10 PM):
still lost myself...
Nikki says (10:11 PM):
does it have anything at all to do with the 13 letter words
Bob says (10:11 PM):
Ah. Tonight's hint? Let's say they go hand in hand.
Nikki says (10:11 PM):
oh....
Nikki says (10:12 PM):
aux should maybe be aux.
nvm
Bob says (10:12 PM):
I do not know what you mean. Auz is auz, the meaning underlying is for you to find.
Nikki says (10:12 PM):
that's 10
oh, auz...I got confused
Nikki says (10:13 PM):
damned fumes from the bar
Bob says (10:13 PM):
You don't need any tools for this answer, just the little digits you posess.
Nikki says (10:14 PM):
yeah, have to tell you sir, I am not feeling the love roght now...but if you say this is it, then it has to be it
Nikki says (10:15 PM):
sorry, hard to type and chew gum at the same time
Bob says (10:15 PM):
If I was to show you love, you would be severely disappointed Mrs. Bennett.
Nikki says (10:15 PM):
Well, I didn't mean THAT!
lol
Bob says (10:15 PM):
Of course, my misinterpretation.
Bob says (10:16 PM):
Where is the angel? Reading Thoreau perhaps? Very philosophical man.
Angelus Ex Mortis says (10:17 PM):
Philosophy is the nature of the soul in search of the answer to the question why.
Bob says (10:18 PM):
Correct.
Angelus Ex Mortis says (10:18 PM):
The nature of a man shows true when action is met without forward planning.
Bob says (10:18 PM):
Odyssius showed that trait.
I believe you are directly quoting, correct?
Angelus Ex Mortis says (10:19 PM):
Actually no, those weres I plucked from the air at that moment
*words were
Bob says (10:19 PM):
Then I commend you.
Angelus Ex Mortis says (10:20 PM):
Thank you.
Bob says (10:20 PM):
Of course.
This will be the time for any question or concerns, going once...
going twice......
Nikki says (10:21 PM):
um
er
Angelus Ex Mortis says (10:21 PM):
Have you heard the tale of the emperor and the tiger
Bob says (10:22 PM):
No, care to enlighten?

Kyle has been added to the conversation.

Bob says (10:23 PM):
Ah, a new member to the brigade I see?
Angelus Ex Mortis says (10:23 PM):
One day confucius came upon an old man in the jungle who was hungry and scared, confucius l ked at the old man and asked him why he was in the jungle and why he did not fear the tiger.
Angelus Ex Mortis says (10:24 PM):
The old man l ked at confucius and replied 'the emperors wrath is greater then that of the tigers'
The moral being a tyrant is to be feared more then that of a tiger.
Bob says (10:25 PM):
I see. I've only read into confucious once or twice.
Angelus Ex Mortis says (10:25 PM):
Welcome Kyle I find the stories of the buddhist teachings a very enjoyable read.
Kyle says (10:26 PM):
Seems so
Bob says (10:27 PM):
Nothing wrong with buddhism. I prefer reads like Walden though.
Angelus Ex Mortis says (10:28 PM):
Any word from the three st ges
Bob says (10:28 PM):
None actually, last I heard they were nearing Colorado.
Angelus Ex Mortis says (10:29 PM):
slower then we calculated.
Bob says (10:30 PM):
Well they move the rate of their IQ apparently.
Nikki says (10:31 PM):
<sniggers>
Bob says (10:32 PM):
On an off note, did you ever research your name Gabriel?
Nikki says (10:32 PM):
ok, so our new clues are AUZ , l k right AND the digits 19 9 24
Bob says (10:32 PM):
Correct.
Nikki says (10:32 PM):
that is all we need
Bob says (10:33 PM):
One thing leads to another ma chere. This hint will help you with the bigger picture, to be brief, the one with the canyons on the side.
Nikki says (10:33 PM):
merci
Bob says (10:34 PM):
Is there any other inquiries? I will try to answer the best I can.
Nikki says (10:35 PM):
<l>
Bob says (10:36 PM):
Your paths may lead you to the same spot.
Nikki says (10:39 PM):
Bob, would we be heading in the right direction if we set out for Walden
Nikki says (10:40 PM):
It seems you like to refernce Walden
Bob says (10:41 PM):
Ah. You noticed my little quotes ma chere. Sadly that would not help you right now, but keep that in mind. I will say this. One of those quotes does give you a little taste of what's in store.
Nikki says (10:41 PM):
hmm
Nikki says (10:42 PM):
so drive fast, turn right..... I mean just stick with l k right (in the pic ) 19 9 24 and AUZ which to me means austrailia
Bob says (10:43 PM):
Auz has nothing to do with australia.
Nikki says (10:44 PM):
g d, glad I got you to fess to that...lol
Bob says (10:44 PM):
You do not need any internet tools for these hints. No decoders, no google, just your fingers and decent counting skills.
Nikki says (10:45 PM):
ohhhhhhhhh
Maybe.....
stiations
striations
Bob says (10:45 PM):
I think you can agree that I have given up enough information, yes?
Nikki says (10:46 PM):
oh alright.
a girl can try though
Bob says (10:47 PM):
I understand.

Kyle has left the conversation.

Bob says (10:59 PM):
Goodnight all, I must depart.
Angelus Ex Mortis says (10:59 PM):
G dnight Bob
Bob says (10:59 PM):
Au Revoir.
Nikki says (10:59 PM):
night

Hey guys sorry to join the hunt so late in the day. The code's got me pretty stumped as well although I'd have to say that from the structure of the words it most likely isn't a Rot cypher, also Bob seems to be pretty insistant that we don't need any decoders for this just the simple ability to count... so I'm going to have a fun after noon counting out words (this could also fit with his clue about shifting as we could find multiple lines within any single line depending on where we shift the start point from).
If any one still thinks this could be rot cypher look at the first word 'uuur' now my english is not amazing but I can't think of many words that start with 3 identical letters. Which would mean that if this were any cypher really it would have to treat each letter dynamicaly. This would almost certainly need a tool to crack, so I think chances are we just need to simplify... we're looking for a chariot when it's only the wheel we need.

Any way's I'll keep at it let you know if I find anything. Ta

I think that when Bob said we didn't need the decoder etc it was referncing just 19 9 24 and AUZ equaling six. so six must be the key. when i decode just HCMONTY with the keyword six in the purple hell cryptogram solver I get century so I am gonna play a bit more...

For completeness' sake, the ISBN numbers of "Life Without Principle" by Thoreau:

10-digit: 1573922021
13-digit: 9781573922029

I can't see anything to do with the tridecanumerism there though. Smile

well its like this...seems to me that bob is telling us that this is just a "skip-so-many-letters" code (if there's a proper name for that i apologize. he 's talked of counting, given us numbers, said we didnt need tools, and said the anwser was right under our nose. I thought maybe even the "look to the right" statement meant work backwards. Here's the problems I've run inot with that..

1) What the --expletive-- is Auz?
I know nb said it could make six also...but why would he give us a code for that twice? (plus by the way i didnt follow how you turned that into six...your magic mystifies me-lol)

2) skipping letters destroys hcmonty...
I agree angelus that hcmonty will probably decode into a recognizable word before the rest do...if you skip letters though you skip parts of the word....there are a bunch of h's, c's... and so on in the text but they seem to be at random intervals. I mention that because i thought maybe when we found the right intervals we'd spell it out again...im still double checking that but it dont look good

3) why the tridecalogisms?
if they arent keywords for an "internet tool" then what are they for?

4) did we squeeze everything out of the g.c. picture?
Bob:

"This hint will help you with the bigger picture, to be brief, the one with the canyons on the side."- by the way that's arkansas diamond mining depicted on the side of the u-haul in the first picture

"Beautiful n'est pas?
Your next clue lies the walls within the walls"
Lies the walls within the walls...maybe it is just a typo...but then you got to think he looked it over...dude quotes thoreau...

well thats my piece...i think we got to talk this out guys....dont seem like any of us are getting much of anywhere alone....

alright, here is what I know for sure.....

it was given twice to re-push or confirm it.
six is ONE of the keywords.
it gets us century for hc monty on PH Cryptogram solver
six is the shift from auz

I am sure we need to keep shifting. "work in shifts"

I don't think that Thoreau is impotant now, many of the quotes are from Walden.

In IM we got confirmation. Take the coded text and ROT 6 it to get:

WARNING: BRUTE-FORCE RESULTS AHEAD
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Out of curiosity, I tried to brute-force the shifted text by running it through one of those Vigenere programs that automatically finds the key. It was entirely unable to find a key that resulted in any comprehensible message. So, I suppose this reinforces the idea that there is no complex cipher applied to this text

they got six from auz by looking at their keyboards... the letters to spell six are one letter to the right each of a-u-z

Another way to reach six is with the numbers 19 9 24 using the numbers to letters coding.
