New Mods Targets? Uh, something just occured to me. Those of us who have been made SO mods...do we need to worry about getting attacked???

Well, most of the original SO mods/characters have now been murdered so the only remaining character has made some of the players mods on the SO board.

I think the mods are more of a practical point; can't have dead/gone characters showing up to delete spam from the forums. ^.^

On the otherhand, he did choice the mods based on which of us reminded him the most of the dead Sentries. Which is a little creepy.

ok, i'll be creepy and itemize the list:
HPhack = Howard =
Mkaos = Marie = Unfictionrose (because we need a den mom),
Themagician = Bryce = Sidtheduck (because we need someone to run the server who we can trust with all those passwords),
GetMEout = Kevin = Wolfhawk (because we need someone who thinks radically different),
Y2Kveteran = Art = Dante (because we need a fiery critic),
Econjen = Jen = Biff (because we need to not lose our sense of humor), and
Politicaltexan = Alan = Sinyx (because we need someone who understands influence).

Oh great, my boyfriend's going to be so pissed when Chorazos breaks in to send us a flaming cricket bomb or whatever. The attack cats will have to be at the ready.
I was also wondering at his choices, and who represented who. Cath's assessment seems right, creepy or not. I'm still wondering about my supposed understanding of 'influence', but I suppose Howard has his reasons.
Also, how many of us have websites, etc that could be attacked?

Which begs the question: Are each of these people needed because they possess the individual traits that, when combined, form a cohesive unit capable of defeating the encroaching evil? -or- Are each of these people needed because there are currently six empty serving dishes in some ghastly, ghoulish all you-can-eat buffet and each person represents the approriate refill?
Okay...that's two questions, but you get the idea.
Sidenote: I can't be the only person who wants to log onto SO and ask the new mods, "WTF are you thinking...you're singing your death warrants!"

Better you guys than me.
Moderating an Internet message board would give me an embolism within a week.
Seriously, though, check out the new area of the SO forums, where Howard's opening up the secret forums; there are a couple of old Sentries who didn't re-up after the hax attack. Maybe the new clues will feed in through them.
Or, they'd been there all along and I'm too dumb to notice.

Are those old Sentries? I thought they were unfictioners who were among the first to find SO and signed up as returning members.

Xestrix and AisforApple are both unfictioners who joined SO at the very beginning, and didn't say "HEY, I'M NEW HERE, WHAT'S GOING ON?!?!"
So the Sentries PM'ed them and said - "You two look familiar - we don't trust these other 30 new people, so join us in this sekrit forum so that we can talk about the new people"
Which allowed Xestrix and AisforApple to pass along everything in the sekrit forum back to us.

It is kind of creepy - Howard definitely has a strange personality. He seems to be unable to handle change very well - which leads me to my wild spec: He's the one behind trying to summon Yoggy (perhaps with peter's help?) in order to bring back Adrianna. He's been moping about that loss for years now. Plus, he's just about the only character left to point fingers at .

Er, we weren't given the choice. Howard made us mods THEN made the announcement.

I don't. I don't even leave my computer on all the time.

Okay, that in and of itself is scary. Unfortunately, it's very plausible. I just never thought that he might be the Yoggy summoner. Do you think he's at all related to Marie's absence and other's deaths?
I also seem to recall him being gone a while... but I don't remember what happened during that time.

Yes, his absences have always been very convenient, and generally right around the time people start disappearing. And it's always because he can't 'handle' what's going on, but to me his explanations have never seemed terribly plausible - as if he's manufacturing a PTSD personality as a cover for his necessary absences. I know paranoia is par for course when we enter the Cthulu mythos, but still, Howard is the only person who we know would have a concrete reason to want to summon Yog Sothoth (other than immortality and space and time and what not).
Plus, I can't help but think of the plot from Agatha Christie's ten little indians as this story progresses.
