[SPEC]Theory on Monsters' name and identity
New theory with explantions

First of all, I'm not as confident in this theory as I am with my theory on the possible title being "FOUND".
FOUND theory: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20323
The Found theory had some fairly solid reasons, this one has alot of little things adding up - but with no magic bullet .
My theory is the Monsters name may be "KOTTOS" or it's known variations Kottus, Cottus or Cottos.

Here's my reasons:
#1.
With the addition of the squid thinking of the hammer in the Slusho! history page a pattern jumped out at me --
Six letter word with double middle letters. haMMer chEEse miTTen
There is one known monster which fits that criteria: koTTos

#2.
Of the teaser posters, Monstrous, Terrifying and Furious -- Furious was kind of a strange word for a tagline(to me anyway).
Believe it or not there is one known monster always associated with that title: KOTTOS the furious.

#3.
Kottos has multiple arms with at least 6 heads -- hydra-like, both Noriko Yoshida and Ryouta Yoshida have the word HYDRA within
them. In fact Ryouta Yoshida has the anagram "To you is a Hydra" or "Is a Hydra to you".

#4
Kottos is known for throwing boulders at his enemies, just like The Statue of Liberty's head was thrown.

#5
Kottos has six brothers. Sons of Gaia(Earth) and Uranus(Sky). take Ga from Gaia and nu from Uranus(insert joke here) you get.. Ganu. (He was very big).

Gaia or Gaea, known as Earth or Mother Earth (the Greek common noun for "land" is ge or ga).
http://www.pantheon.org/articles/g/gaia.html
and.....
Anu/Sky/God
ANU/the/Heavenly/One
Anu/Uranus
http://doormann.tripod.com/engsum.htm
Ga and Anu - earth and sky - Gaia and Uranus - Parents of Kottos

The first 3 monster brothers from Greek Mythology are: (Quote from Wiki) the Cyclopes—Brontes, Steropes and Arges —were the sons of Uranus (Sky) and Gaia (Earth). The next three are the The Hecatonchires, or Hekatonkheires - Kottos the furious, Briareus the Vigorous, also called Aigaion, the "sea goat" and
Gyges (or Gyes) the Big-Limbed. Six monster brothers - this may be referenced by all the Sixes at the Slusho site and the Six flavour bots standing there breathing.

(I just realised this while I was writing . Three of the flavour bots have one eye like the three Cyclopes)

"Kronos had helped his mother, Gaia, free the monstrous brothers but he feared their strength and beauty and imprisoned them under the earth where they remained until the war between the Titans and the Olympians began; Zeus brought the three brothers back into the light and gave them nektar (nectar) and ambrosia to renew their vitality; Briareos, Kottos and Gyes joined the Olympians in the war against the Titans."

Nektar (nectar) and ambrosia are the drink and food of the gods http://www.answers.com/topic/ambrosia Something with an especially delicious flavor --
does that sound like Ganus' out of this world tasty ingredient.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
There are more little things (such as all the Avengers' references on Huds' Myspace page and Kottus being an Avengers villian) but not that one thing which will prove my theory. I'll keep looking for that magic bullet.

Like I said I don't know, but a multi-armed serpent giant monster smashing and throwing bits of NYC would definitly be original and intense just like Abrams said. It's vague enough from Greek Mythology that he can put his own take on the looks.
This may be nothing but it is interesting.

Cottos, Kottos—Greek. Monstrous child of Gaia and Uranus. One
of the Hecatoncheires
http://www.us.oup.com/us/pdf/thury/ListofGods.pdf

http://www.babylon.com/definition/Kottos/English
http://www.monstropedia.org/index.php?title=Hecatonchire

This is from the original Greek source:
each had six enormous arms above their waists:
two emanating from their powerful shoulders , four
attached below.
Three other sons were born from Gaia and Uranus,
huge, powerful, and indescribable:
Cottus, Briareus, and Gyes, hybristic offspring.
arms sprang from their shoulders ,
unapproachable, and they each had fifty heads
growing from their shoulders ;
the enormous strength in their awesome presence was terrifying

Wow...

Good find! Even if this doesn't turn out to be an ARG, even the non slusho related stuff seems to fit what little we know.

This is by far the best theory on what the monster is that I have read. Looking at that illustration you found, I can totally envision the "roar" in the trailer coming from something like that.

yeah was thinking that lookign at the picture but then who is to say that picture is how it has to look? artistic license allows that to change.
and the multi head part could explain the multiple type "roar" in the trailer.

nice idea though

Thats a damn good theory dude! All i have to say is that if the monster is killed/captured by the US military or anybody else i will be sadly disappointed. I hope this monster will shit stomp the hell out of NYC and surrounding area and then somehow manage to disappear into the Atlantic only to show up again in a sequel.

That's looks pretty solid. Could very well be Kottos.

My money's on blOOp though. I think that theory is more appealing to me because it's taken from a real world mystery.

It fit in the gaia theory

It works!
Also because Kottos could be like a huge white blood cell tryning to wipe off the parassite (us, the people) who infest mother Gaia.
If hearth is a living being like in the Gaia theory, we are the infesting parasite that are killing her, so here came the medicine.
It Works!

Hi. This is my first post, though I've been lurking, reading, etc. since early July (the week after Transformers came out and I became obsessed with figuring out what this movie is!). I had nothing to really add, so I just kept reading (though I was in the city at the time of the shooting of the movie and didn't realize what it was until I read it here - DAMN!). Anyway, I have to say, that this is a VERY good theory, even though you say you don't have that one "magic bullet" to prove it. You do have a lot of good tie-ins, and, if you are right, it is a bit horrifying to think that Kottos is the monster, just by reading the information from the links you provided! And what if it's not just him? What if one of his other brothers comes to play? Even with all of our firepower, we wouldn't stand too much of a chance (though apparently, according to other threads, since this is pretty much a flashback as to what happened, the monster was defeated or appeased somehow). VERY interesting theory - good jorb!

I think bloop can work with almost any monster, we just know the sound of it. I've wondered for a while now if the bloop story on cnn last yeargot the ball rolling in the writers head for an unkown monster lurking in the alantic ocean.

Thanks for all the positive feedback, like I said I'm not even 100% confident in my theory but things started adding up and I thought I should share it with you. Maybe you guys will find more links.

That would be fairly ironic if all this time we were talking about the "parasite" movie and it turns out we are the parasites.

well that is quite a regular theory about humans, it has cropped up before in films, it was in transformers cos megatron thought of humans as vermin or parasites, and if you think of the term parasites take over and live of everything destroying it in the process, which is kinda what we have done.

This is a pretty thorough theory. I like it, especially working with the bloop.

Seeing as "The Parasite" was a rumored working title for the film, the Gaia theory is timely with the trend to be more "Green", isn't it? If we can't fix it, then Earth will fix us...

I actually like this theory better than the "Found" theory. Good work!
