[SPEC] Building the Bigger Picture
Where does what we know fit?

I've been spending a lot of time this evening gestating on this whole soiree, and I think I've come up with a decent outline of the structure of this thing - call it an ARG, experience, guerilla marketing, or just chaotic fiction.

We have 3 key sites, the only confirmed sources of information and context. They are:
1-18-08.com
Slusho.co.jp
MySpace.com

Slusho.co.jp is obviously the most cryptic of the sites, but it is evolving over time and based on it's evolution and apparent response to input exists and is fully relative to our own real time context. It makes no reference to any characters seen in the trailer, or the trailer's physical location, which brings us to...

MySpace.com is where we see the profiles of the characters seen in the trailer, however they are responding to input from us in real time and are apparently not aware of any of the events shown in the trailer. This tends to imply that they are in our own real time context. What few if any references to Slusho are made, they are apparently unaware that it has any special meaning to them or any portent of what's to come.

1-18-08.com documents in a forensic way things that have already occurred, but which are as yet in our future. It ties together the previous two sites by it's references to Slusho, Japan (where Rob is headed), and 'the 7'. In the visual chronology of the trailer, we see those elements all put together before the action truly unfolds. This impiies they are all important to what follows.

Basically I think the MySpace profiles and Slusho site are going to gradually change and set a framework for the events of the film to unfold. I suspect we know almost all if not all there is to be known about the Slusho site until the movie comes out, and any more info relevant to the product Slusho is likely to come from the MySpace profiles. Basically the movie will be the convergence of all the information we get from the two sites.

My predictions based on all of this:
The MySpace postings will flesh out and if there is to be a second trailer, will be largely culminating in that second trailer. I expect very little to follow from MySpace if such a trailer appears.
If there is a second trailer, it will occur with a timing relevant to Rob's official notice of his departure to Japan. Companies usually give at least two months to allow you to arrange such a move, which would coincide nicely with my prediction on another thread of the timing of a second trailer ( see this thread for details ).
The 1-18-08.com site's next major update (more than just something like a roar sound added) will be immediately following the debut of the movie, and may actually contain an epilogue of the events of the movie.
