kona- I prefer Reno- but by the same token, I get the feeling a lot of people are going to be of the sort that would say "OMG RENO NV SO COOL LULZ."

That been said, so I can contradict myself, I'm open to try absolutely ANYTHING. I think we should mass email/petition NBC to give unFiction its own branch. Exposure would be TERRIFIC(especially if unFiction puts it on the front page and ARGnet in the what's hot section(HINT, HINT)) for them here. Petition, anyone? Anyone?

I already did e-mail NBC about our prediciment (and unfiction group) and that we still are trying to rally together somewhere, and that for me, the experience has not been fun before the game actually begins, since I never heard from any new manager, and am still not in a group despite the fact that I tried 4 times and the show starts.

There is a contact link on the sign-in page of Dunder Mifflin website that applies specifically to this game if anyone else wants to.

Perhaps our downfall was to sign up for large college towns - I am worried about Billings MT as that is the home of Montana State University, and Kalazamoo is the home of Western Michigan University. Perhaps a smaller town with no major university would have a better chance.

Not to be a killjoy or anything, but Montana State University main campus is in Bozeman, MT. The MSU-Billings is a smaller college (used to be Eastern Montana College) and Billings is by far not a college town. Very Happy I grew up just north of there and would bet that not too many people would sign up for it. I'll re-apply to Billings as well! Very Happy

Well, Clearwater is just a beach town in Florida. Cool No major college there -- not too far from Tampa, though, which does have USF. But it's mainly a really chill beach town for retired yuppies. There's a great sandwich/ice cream shop called the Kooky Coconut (used to be the Tacky Turtle). Highly recommended if you are moving to the Clearwater branch. Cool

In truth, though, I don't know whether I'm 100% sure the sign-up process is working properly. My boyfriend, for instance, received an email stating that his branch in Greenville does not yet have a manager, and he should wait to find out who is chosen. However, he reapplied for Clearwater long ago (after their first error when we had to pick different locations). I even asked him to try reapplying for Clearwater again, and he got an error message that said he was already signed up for the Clearwater branch. Very confusing. Confused

Perhaps we're missing the underlying message of Spacely's rejection letter -- NBC (and, Dunder Mifflin by proxy) are biased against fish, and have assumed that the Bass in Spacebass is representative of aquatic life.

Take this for example: When offered the Barney Miller spin-off Fish, NBC passed on the opportunity. While they cited "an irreconcilable difference of opinion between NBC and star Abe Vigoda" at the time, could the name of the series have been the real reason the show was never put on the Peacock?

Another note: On the hit series Heroes, are any of the special abilities water-related? Birds (flying), chameleons (invisibility) and spiders (time travel -- you knew they could, right?) are all represented on the show through special abilities, but fishy and fish-related abilities are oddly left out. Coincidence?

My thoughts continue to drift towards setting up a shadow management at the Kalamazoo branch. We'll show those fish-hating bastard just who is pulling the strings -- in this case, the fishnets -- at DM K-Zoo.

Absolutely I agree. In fact, I move that any branch that finally does become the official UnFiction branch should make it a point to throw fish into every completed task. At our Dunder Mifflin branch, we celebrate who we are and what we love, even if it includes odd things with fish. Corporate needs to finally recognize our diversity. Exclamation

I have also been unsuccessful in applying as the manager for two seperate branches (and I know i have over 15 people) with another message board, but not getting accepted to either, and all of us being denied from joining a branch. Based on observations, here's what I think has been happening:

I believe that people who post/were already registered on the Office forums on NBC received the website and information first about DMI and the branches being opened (possibly before the launched to the public), and had much more time to gather people. Now they are making up pretty much all of the full branches and are only "hiring" other people they know from the boards or friends from real life.

I also sent a message to NBC listing both of my codes I had provided to employees to see if there is any way they can create a branch for us. If they don't want to make too many new branches, maybe we can merge with the unfiction branch =)

For those interested- I PM'd SpaceBass in IRC today and made mention that we should lobby with NBC to get our own branch. Whether or not it makes a difference to them, the idea of using ARGnet and unFiction to offer more front page promotion to DMI has been discussed. The only thing I know for sure is that Bass did contact them, and hopefully we'll get a real, official response from them soon.

recruiting employees

I am beginning this whole thing was a marketing pyramid scheme - recruiting website memberships for them. Maybe they had no intention of letting us (or any member of the public) be a regional manger in the first place. They dangle a prize before your nose (in this case the regional manager); with the task of recruiting employees (in this case website members for them). Then those 15 employees you recruited go on their merry way and apply for another regional manager opening (after the error letter or rejection letters), and then those 15 people recruit another 15 people. I feel taken.

Does anyone actually personally know someone that got manager?

That would be so evil and I would be so sad that The Office was drug into NBC's evil plot! I really hope that's not the case! Besides, I want to do weekly tasks dammit!!

Edited to change this post to say that there are a bunch of new branches that have been created so you guys could probably easily claim one of those ones.
