Just asking. Smile

If I were a cynical person I would say that the people making this video just maybe are a bit irritated with their audience.

I TOTALLY agree here.

most important

I think the most important piece of information is that there will be more videos to come. We now have a view inside a characters relationship with her boyfriend. Hopefully they will come up with other ways for us to become an insider on other characters lives such the way they did with Jamie, cause I gotta be honest, the myspace just doesn't cut it. It's a cool piece, but not to exciting...

Lonelygirl15 is a story of a girl named Bree who put videos on the internet. People went beserk (1-18-08 is a small bit of what happened with that story) trying to find out if she was real. She wasn't...the creators turned her story into an ARG. Um, if you don't know what happened to her...let's just say the good guys didn't win that one...not a hollywood ending.

Maybe all these videos are just to set up some sort of side plot relationship drama between jamie and teddy (which all movies tend to have) so that other more important characters like rob, his brother, etc. can just worry about the monster thats trying to kill them?

Some more Teddy analysis

Some analysis and thoughts of mine (along with a large helping of speculation) regarding the video and role/background of video, possible clues and how Teddy Hanssen may fit into the story:

Jamie's room is very sparse. For someone her age and active lifestyle, to me its odd there are no other pictures on her wall, no posters, art, pictures of friends etc…only the one framed document on her wall. Even the furnishings are relatively simple…bed with plain bedding, two nightstands one with a light and the other with some Kleenex? Seems to me the "stuff" is being kept to a minimum so we can focus on what stands out.

With the minimalist way her room is set up, my eyes (when not looking at Jamie—hubba, hubba) are drawn to three items; the document on her wall, the teddy bear, and the Hoberman Sphere. I believe the framed document and sphere are fairly important (the bear not so much). It's impossible to see what the document is in the first video, but I'm hoping subsequent videos will reveal more. She may reference it or talk about it, or some of her next videos may be shot at a different angle or more close up so we see more of it…for now, I'm putting it on the back burner.

This brings me to the sphere and Teddy's role/background in the story. Now I admit a lot of this is speculation and I'll be making a few leaps of faith here, but I'm trying to use simple logic when doing so. Logically Teddy has to be involved in the story…if he is just some stockbroker working for Morgan Stanley who is on a west coast business trip, then there is no point to the videos…nothing will be learned. He has to be part of the larger back-story for this to move forward.

I believe the sphere is a gift from Teddy to Jamie. Once she is finished recording, she picks up the sphere plays with it while most likely reflecting on what she said and thinking about him…it was also on her bed while recording so it's something she keeps close to her. You can buy these at a lot of places, including educational type stores (i.e. Discovery Store) or Sharper Image type of stores. Hoberman Sphere's are marketed as being an educational toy. Reading Jamie's blogs and myspace entries, plus her interaction with others, (sorry about the stereotype) she does not seem like the type of person who would normally find something like this interesting or would come across one and buy it for herself. It's got to be a gift from Teddy.

Assuming so, what that tells us is Teddy is a cerebral guy who found it interesting enough to buy it for his girlfriend. I'm betting he interested in math and science and his profession may be science/math based, such as physical geography or maybe marine biology…(see where I'm going here). So leaping forward, one could speculate that Teddy is working for a company (possibly Slusho or some yet unknown entity) and is either in Japan or even (since this is in real time) on a ship on an oceanographic expedition.

I'm guessing he's going to find something while on his trip. Rob may be involved and this could be one of the reasons Rob transfers to Japan. I'm sure more will be revealed in future videos, but I'm sure Teddy is a very important link to the entire back-story and Jamie's role is just a vessel with which the info gets to all of us.

P.S. Please don't let me low post count fool you…I made several posts as a guest and have been following everything since July 3. I cannot wait until the movie is out. Exclamation

I wish I could say that now...

I do concur that the purpose of us finding this is as a sort of "watch this space". We'll see how long it takes to get another vid now that we've found it.

hehe, actually at unfiction there is a sort of ethic that new people are more valuable than the oldtimers because new players bring new ideas and perspectives. I have to say that this ethic is not overt though. Everyone's ideas are good!

maybe I should say "welcome to the church of SpaceBass." Wink

On topic, the video, I don't have any good ideas. Maybe we will get some more soon. At least now we know to look for people that are mentioned on the myspace pages.

Chump Force 1,

I like the way you think. There are a couple of other things that stick out to me. The way she told him not to put it on the internet sounded way too obvious and out of place. Almost like it was intended to be said in a way too obvious manner.

Another thing that sticks out in my mind is the webcam/recording device itself. Not that it has a crazy translucent shield that flips over the eye. Or even a lens cover. It looked like she poked the camera in the top left of it. Now I speak for myself, but others may agree: If you were turning your webcamera off, you'd definatley know for sure if it was either on or off. The fact that she didn't once look at the computer screen to see if she was still in frame, even just a passing glance; is a bit unnatural. I for one like to make sure I'm still looking stone sexy when I make videos of me talking. I also don't just send videos without making sure that I did a good job on them.

So it's my personal opinion that if she didn't know that the webcam was off, she's either completely blind, or completely stupid. The intellectual toys and the look of her room tell me otherwise.

That's a good indicator of what kind of person someone is.... the way they keep thier personal space. The sterility of the space shown in the video is only dotted with several things that stick out. Her dress, the sphere, the wall picture, and that's about it. Two bland laps adorn the nightstands. The bedding is completely bland and unsuggesting. There are absolutely no personal effects. Just the toy and the bear. Maybe the document on the wall.

And the document on the wall looks like it's written in calligraphy. It's too short to be a prayer. Perhaps an old document like the bill of rights? Declaration of independence? Magna Carta? Who knows?

That's my breakdown.

Agreed with this part.
Her room gives me the apperance of someone who just moved into a new home or room. Its too sterile. anyone else think she lived with the mystery man

Thanks for the kind words. I agree, she sounded kind of rushed and it was almost a don't put this on the internet (wink, wink). Or it could just be bad acting too.

Good point...I didn't think it would be a webcam, I was thinking along the lines of a stand-alone digital handycam on a tripod and she would upload the vid to her computer later...a webcam seems much more plausible.

There is a temporary feel to the room...hopefully its not due to poor production values or limited budget...just something thrown together to pacify the growing fan unrest. I would prefer to think there a bigger meaning to the look and feel of the room.

Thanks much. If anyone on these boards watches Battlestar Galactica on Scifi channel then this may remind you of the 8 or 10 webisdoes that aired on Scifi.com a month or so before season 3 started last October. They filled in some of the back-story between season 2 and 3, but didn't do much else. I can see a string of these cloverfield type webisodes over the next couple of months filling in the story and more fully developing the characters in the movie.

Either not at all, or just for a little bit. It seems like they are in the initial stages of a relationship... you know, when you are blind to even the most annoying things? That is supported by the fact that she just started talking about Mr. Hannsen(sp?) recently in her blogs and comments.

Even my house (and I'm no expert at decoration) was not THAT bland for longer than a week when i moved in. To my knowledge, she's lived there for longer than it takes to decorate your room. Looks like a hospital room. And I still can't get past that part where she "thinks she shuts the cam off".... I don't see how you can forget it was on, or just go ahead and send that without editing it first.

Way I figure is that since she finally figured out that it was still recording and turned it off for good, that means she knows 100% that the bladder infection part is part of the file/tape/cd/etc. So why would you send that crap to your supposed lover.

When you're in a young relationship (assuming theirs is young), you are afraid to pass gas or burp. You go in the bathroom and lock your door and run the fan and spray and make sure you aren't thought of as disgusting. So if I actually sent this, even by accident (which it wasnt, obviously), I'd be completely appalled and would probably hide for a long time.

Everything she said in the entire video just seemed out of place, exaggerated. So it's either completely OOG or it's so IG it's not even funny.

I have no doubts in my mind that this is NOT someone's personal video.

Hope there is more soon!

uncluttered room

I think it's kinda of funny that there is so much interest in how she keeps her room. I know it could be something, but it's funny to me because if I took a picture/video of my bed, from a similar angle, it'd look pretty much the same...except with less stuff. My wife and I don't have nightstands, there's nothing on the walls in a bedroom and stuffed animals stay mostly in our little one's room.

The room just doesn't seem that out-of-place or temporary to me.
