Now, Froschblicks profile states the owner as Alexander, Vienna, Munich. What I can't find there is either the Moira video or that url. Where did you read that? Has someone done some backtracking and deleted the video, or am I missing something?

Very nice video indeed, I hope it will be backed up by something good. Smile

If this Alexander guy is that young and producing things that creepy and that professional looking, he could have one heck of a film/video career forthcoming. I hope the Arg turns out to be as good as the first vid was in catching my attention and sending chills down my spine. I just hope it doesn't get to graphically ploddy in the style of the standard slasher flick but the mythology connection gives my hope that a deeper story may unfold here.

My present theory is that the being that was speaking in the video clip is actually imprisoned inside the body of August. If you listen to the audio another voice interjects and says "I'm scared of you" and the later as the camera fades to black, he talks about which mental illness to have. Makes perfect sense if hiding trapped in someone else's body/brain. There's some similarities to the Red king project which turned is turning out to be a very simple technically yet very well written piece of CF

Interesting theory! I was thinking that the strings represent the weavings of the Fates (Moirae)--each a different life, which is why each has a different taste. Is he weaving August's fates "from the inside?"

Where he says at the end "Should I start with Black", do we really know if sure he is talking of the shade 'black' and not a person named Black
Just a supposition Very Happy

EDIT--Just listened to it again, and taken a part transcript of what he says--

white, I would move the (k)night, move the (k)night up, and then black, I would move, my other (k)night

Think about it Very Happy

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
A game of chess

Ooo, I like a whole lot. Modern creepy mixed with ancient mythology, just my bag. The production value seems pretty darn good too.

So, with some poking around, the Moirae page on Alexander's site has a blog archive page refered to in it's source. Archiv.html But there's nothing there yet except the option to subscribe to an RSS feed that doesn't work. However, it may just be a link problem as rss.xml seems to do the trick.

I can explain a couple of those things.

Why the RSS link doesn't work: The RSS link does, in fact, work, but it's an RSS feed for an iTunes podcast, not the typical news type. Subscribed to it (have a Mac) and I'll see if any casts pop up or if it's just a fluke.

Also, I'm not sure if it will help any, but this site was composed using Apple's iWeb with one of the default templates. You can still change the source, however. The archive page is the iWeb default for a podcast/blog.

RSS is an XML based standard. What its an RSS feed for is irrelevant. Copy and paste the link into any browser, and you'll see plain text. We're saying it doesn't work because nothing is published to it, that's all.

Couple of things. I snagged the original video from http://alexanderlitschka.de and I'll be seeing if I can pull anything from the audio that isn't apparent from just watching the video. I'm also planning at looking at some of the black frames to see if there is anything hidden there. That last one is highly unlikely, because of the encoding method used, but I will see. I can already say that either someone really doesn't know how to encode video or they purposely did some screwy things with it to make it difficult to capture and analyze.

I was also thinking about the chess part at the end. It sounds like he's setting up for a two knight defense, but its hard to tell.

Quote:
Two Knights:

The name of this opening is a good description. Both knights are put into play without moving a pawn. They both go two squares forward and turn toward the center of the board for the final move. Often this opening is preceded or followed by moving the king's pawn forward. This opening allows for at least four offensive pieces to enter the game within about 4 to 6 moves. For the inexperienced player it almost always means the loss of one or both knights with little in return.

Many other openings exist that are mostly just ploys to try to confuse or disturb the thought process of the opposing player. Personally, I think it is better to learn a little by playing the game before trying to implement openings used effectively by some master. Without the master's strategy to follow up on the risky opening, it is a formula for a quick loss.

Once you have reached a comfort level with developing strategies that look ahead 5 or 10 moves, you can get a book and integrate some of these moves and defenses into your overall game plan.

Then again, that may be reading way too much into it.

That's true, but also the URL is itpc://www.alexanderlitschka.de/MOIRAE/Moirae/rss.xml

itpc:// (iTunes podcast, I'd guess) isn't http, and it's handled by iTunes (or a compatible player)

It still works if you replace itpc with HTTP, and it works in browser in that case.

All I was trying to say is that the link didn't work because the browser didn't recognize itpc://

Or was I totally misreading your post? Smile

That's it mostly. I just wanted people to know you didn't need a Mac in order to follow the RSS feed, its just a little more tricky.

Just another thought, towards the end of the video there are two lines of text that read:

Moirae
Coming to the Internet

(Don't quote me, I can't play the video right now)

And these lines start blinking on and off - but only one line at a time. Is it possible that we are looking at a quick message in morse code where one line equals dots and the other dashes?

If anybody is adept at such things, check it out *shrug*
