I really don't like it when things announce themselves as ARGs. It just completely rips the creepiness away. i loved the video and was all up for joining this until I saw the ARG label.

Yeah, I'm picky but it defeats the point for me.

Does it sort of bother anyone else that we've had this dropped in our laps and then ... nothing? The video is pretty high quality and the website is good as well. So lack of planning doesn't seem to be applicable here. However, we have no way of contacting any character, no timeframe for when something will happen next, and only the vaguest idea of what we are supposed to do (make a choice of some kind). So it seems like we're missing something. Anyone try emailing the owner of the website yet?

Also, some args have 'meta sites' that are OOG, but at give some bit of info in some way as to the plan or even just an ad... most recently and significantly, Edlritch Errors had one from the start.

I thought it was pretty obvious from the start that this was an ARG being that it was a video response to the "WHAT IS AN ARG" post from ARGfest 2007.

Meigeist likewise had announcement and signup and was incredibly well done. Also from looking at some of the other stuff on the alexander website, this may well be the company's first foray into ARGing or chaotic fiction, whichever turns out to be the best descripter in the end so there well maybe some misteps. Granted I've not yet been involved in that many games yet nor am I a technical wiz so some of you will pick up on potential glitches much faster, but I think its a bit early in the experience to start dismissing the games's potential because of small things. From the point of view of a reader/gamer the prologue did everything a prologue is supposed to: catch attention (in this case both visually and verbally), introduce character and setting and pose questions for later exploration. I'm certainly looking forward to the possibility of interacting with influencing this character but it's to early to assume that won't materialize Michelle

Oh, I'm not saying it affects the quality of the game in any way - this will probably be lovely, the production certainly is. I'm merely saying, for me, personally, I can suspend my disbelief in the way it's released (via a mod here, mailed to unfiction, to a response on an obvious ARG video on youtube) but when it starts to say "Hey! I'm an ARG!" I just don't find it as hard hitting, is all I'm saying. The video was creepy. It was great! Fascinating and all, but as soon as it calls itself an ARG I just start to wonder how it was made which isn't quite the same. My heart sinks a bit, is all. It takes a bit of the magic away and pulls me back to reality

Just a personal opinion, you don't have to jump down my throat for it or defend yourselves or the game, yeesh. :p

I totally wasn't game bashing, I'll probably jump in this and enjoy it, like i said - it looks great! I was just expressing how I felt over a tiny aspect of it.

I'm feelin' you, Dome. I haven't managed to get into an ARG when the head hits, so I'm pretty stoked so far.

I'm probably not going to be in this full time, but I'll watch and jump in pretty often. I'll take a look at the black frames and some other 'interesting' points in the video and mess around with it (After Effects ftw )
