MST3k jumped the shark when Joel Hodgson left.
Interesting correlation to be made though, as JJ may be paying a lot of tribute to some of the films roasted by MST3k.

An Affectionate homage to the rampaging monster movies of the fifties, and to the city-stomping efforts of Toho's finest, the ad features a vast sea creature rising from the ocean depths and embarking upon a destructive walkabout through the streets of New York.
this is an excerpt from the site i found the picture on interesting.... but nothing to do with the movie at all but same senerio but only to promote the United States Postal service for a new year 2000 stamp
