[FANART] I saw it, it's alive, it's HUGE A pic of the monster. (created by artist Doug Williams)
I've been looking at this forum for a while now, never poster here. I can't take credit for finding this, but i think that it looks pretty cool.
edit to add tag for FANART and name of the artist ~rose

hm... so the obvious question is....where did you find this? It looks pretty cool. i guess if the monster really was a whale i wouldnt mind it looking like that. Its definitely huge, and alive looking. and those lice are gnarly. but doesn't this creature look like it would be real slow and lazy.I know the videos never showed an indication of the creatures speed but i duno, There is just alot going on with all it's limbs and whatnot. i guess it could work if done properly i guess.
guess it couldn't drink just six

Interesting and novel looking, but in scale comparison the claws are vastly much larger than the marks left on the SoL in the official movie poster. I also notice the 8 'tentacles' on it's sides, when the number 6 is the one so strongly emphasized in so many other places. The idea of 'sea lice' that have mutated with it are clever, but clings (pardon the pun) to a supposed leak that's been largely discredited of the 'scales' idea.
Early concept drawings are very often way off, but this is a bit more refined than the more casual sketches usually seen in those early stages. Also common in those early stages are multiple concepts on the same page.
I think this is just someone's speculative drawing based on the movie rumors and speculations thus far, and not at all from the movie project itself.

where did you find that picture/drawing?
It looks great. I could see that being the monster, along w/the "little" parasites. Even if it's just something a fan made up, it's damn good.

If you look at the size scale, the monster is shown to be a little bigger than the man (6 feet).
This would make the statue of liberty about 5 feet tall or so.
At least that's what I think.

I think you missed that the thing by the man is supposed to be one of the parasites shown to the right of the main monster.

I am very inclined to think this isn't genuine. A few of my reasons:
The whale chosen to resemble is a baleen whale. A filter feeder, even a huge one, doesn't seem too terribly ominous. I would expect a toothed whale, and from my own personal speculations if the monster is to be relative to a proto-whale it'll be a preditor. To add to that it'd be a simple quadraped, not a quadraped with 8 extraneous tentacles.
The sketch is not signed, doesn't have a table with studio labeling, and only has a working title we are all hung up on (Cloverfield). If this was to be an unlabeled sketch why chance it and put such a leading name on it? A studio would tend to label such a piece, because if it DID leak they'd want to be able to point out the copyright info on the image so that there would be no doubt it was not intended to be distributed without their permission.
Aside from the sea lice being related to the 'scales' rumor I mentioned before, I find the use of the SoL as a scale reference to be too much of an appeal to the clues we already have. It's just trying too hard to appeal to us as authentic.
I'd call this some very nice skillfully rendered fan art.

i believe its fake since the OP hasn't answered any questions about it's validity.
but i wouldn't blow this out of the water just yet...stuff like this doesn't appear that generously in this "ARG"

And, even if it's not a leak from an inside source, it's still a pretty good guess at what the monster might be like. Best candidate I've seen so far. After the Teletubbies, that is. Or, Rosie. Those were rich.
Also, the big thing doesn't need to be very menacing - it might not even leave the water. It could just wade up to Manhattan - toss the SOL's head, etc., while the lice run amok in the city.
EDIT: scratch that - I just remembered the poster w/the big whole in the skyline - I guess it does leave the water, then.

I'm almost certain I've seen it in one of those 'fanart' videos that's circulated on YouTube, I suggest the topic be retitled to include either [OOG] or [FANART] in the title.

this seems very official looking, because they could have changed their mind about the claw size after releasing the poster. but sadly this still looks like very nice fanart...

yeah, me too. That photo is beyond awesome.
I'll have to agree that it may just be fan art.
But, hell major kudos to whoever created that.
I'd be scared out of my mind if I saw something like
that and the lice as well. eww. >_<
