I'm almost certain I've seen it in one of those 'fanart' videos that's circulated on YouTube, I suggest the topic be retitled to include either [OOG] or [FANART] in the title.
You should call [FANART] [FART] mwahahaha

this seems very official looking, because they could have changed their mind about the claw size after releasing the poster. but sadly this still looks like very nice fanart...
Professional quality doesn't always denote authenticity. DeviantArt and even Worth1000 are full of professional quality artists, as well as sub-par ones.
For example, take a look at this Transformers artwork a fan of the movies has created: LINK He's even styled it to have a similar border to concept art that was used in the movie.
There's some real beautiful artwork out there that could get those people hired into the film industry, but given the whole buzz when this thing started and the other bits of fan created creature designs, I'd say that's good cause to dismiss for the moment.

If this actually is a fan entrant to a contest, would anyone happen to have a link? I'd like to see various people's guesses as to Our Main Monster Dude's identity.

I too agree that it is fan art.
However, this is by far the best looking monster thus far. That thing would be able to wreck havoc...i do think it is a little too big for the monster we have seen (plucking the head off of the SoL would be like a pebble in its hand), but amazing nonetheless. Nice work.

Great Drawing Very nicely done.
To the person who said this monster looks slow and lazy; maybe on land a little
bit, which is what the drawing implies. However, look at its design and I bet this
thing flies under water with the ability to launch itself onto land.
It launches itself onto Liberty Island, swipes the head of the SOL, dunks back into the water, launches itself out again and through the first buildings it comes
into contact with. The explosion is still unexplained reasonably and sometime
later it throws the head in the general direction of Rob's apartment.
I like this design.

It would really, really, really suck to be killed by lice.

I originally found this image on a buried thread on digg. I couldn't find any other info about the image, but I thought that it was good looking enough to show all of you. i also believe it to be fan art, but great fan art. Thanks for looking and sorry I took so long to respond, I was gone all day after I originally posted it.

There's no "believing it to be fan art". It IS fan art. Got a link and everything.

Is it just me or does the front view of the "lice" resemble Larry the Lobster from Spongebob?
