Title: Question on the Nine Paths
A message from a Bulletin Board... highlights
book by John Matthews entitled "The Celtic Shaman".
His list of the nine are: Seanachie, Poet, Healer, Brehon, Hunter, Smith, Warrior, Seer, and Shaman.

This from the one follow up message:
Quote:

The quick answer is yes, the term implied by Shaman may include all of the others. The term Shaman is much overused these days, a media term extracted from a Siberian tribe to describe a walker between the worlds.

Synopsis

For the other pages Drizjr got from TuringPrincess:

http://www.sacred-texts.com/oto/lib868.htm
LIBER VIARVM VIAE SVB FIGVRA DCCCLXVIII
(relating to the philosophy of Thelema)
For numbers 21-13, to the left bracket:
"Nine locks of the Inferior Beard."
To the right bracket:
"Nine paths below Adeptus."
(side note the Thelema Texts also include a chapter entitled "Mass of the Phoenix"
which can be found here)

Quote:
You'll meet eminent scientist Willy McGilly, who employs magic as his scientific method, Epikt the Ktistec machine, the first transcendent computer, pride of the Institute of Impure Science, which (who?) prefers pipes over cigarettes and dislikes giving plain answers to unanswerable questions, Aloysius Shiplap the seminal genius and Margaret the Houri, the ageless intergalactic mistress. They'll break your perception of reality into unmendable shards, and leave you writhing on the floor laughing yourself mad!

(the bold on this one is mine, the Dactyls are mentioned)
Quote:
… the story itself refers to a much more obscure myth that of the Dactyls, a group of makers in Greek mythology serving the same mythic function as the dwarfs of the Northern peoples. By playing upon this notion which resonates with a mythic niche that speakers of Indo-european languages have -- he invokes a spiritual nostalgia for this magical tale set, of course in Tulsa.

Hey Sunny, do you think Tulsa OK is West enough?
